I'm definitely trying to work that out. I'll be ready for another dose by next weekend.

tridude - 2-9-2009 at 06:24 PM

weekends getting closer.....................................

kitedog - 3-9-2009 at 06:25 AM

I think we'll try to come down Saturday evening and stay all day Sunday.

Hey Tridude! I was watching some low wind SA runs on youtube and I noticed they do a downturn for water starting but they turn it down in the opposite direction I would have expected. For instance, going left to right you'd bring the kite over the top and turn it down to the left and lock it in as soon as its going to the right again. Does that make sense?

Greg

tridude - 3-9-2009 at 06:35 AM

sounds good......my sons 12m Pulse 2 is due in today so that'll put two in the mix and the Pulse 1......add a 17m SA 1.5 to go along with the two 19s........woooohoooo lotza fun on tap!!

kitedog - 3-9-2009 at 06:44 PM

Looks like ENE for Sunday. How's that at Sullivan's?

tridude - 3-9-2009 at 06:57 PM

very good side on....................................

tridude - 3-9-2009 at 07:00 PM

with this direction downwind a few racks and your in the wider section inside the sandbar....you need to go outside and play in the breakers this weekend! Sons 12m Pulse 2 camr in today and its sweet...................hes on his way from Ole Miss as we type.................:lol::duh::duh:

kitedog - 3-9-2009 at 07:05 PM

Cool...luv that kite. Wind might be pumping...I'm hoping. Wouldn't mind stretching out my 8.

I'm trying to find that video of those guys taking off in uber low wind with the downturn. That looks like the ticket. We'll have to wait for another low wind session to try it out.

Psyched about this weekend!

tridude - 3-9-2009 at 07:09 PM

Sunday is forecasted at 17 to 20kts by mid afternoon! 3 Pulses will be rockin!.........................:lol::duh::duh:

kitedog - 3-9-2009 at 07:14 PM

Yeah man! I'm hoping my wife and kid will come this time. Last trip of the summer to the beach. Too much fun!

tridude - 4-9-2009 at 05:07 PM

10 to 13 was max today but the 19 and 17 were on fire. Local kite instructor was giving a lesson (2 liner down the beach), stopped by afterwards and commented "must be lonely out there"..................:lol::duh::duh:

kitedog - 4-9-2009 at 05:19 PM

Sweet!

I'm hoping to bring out the Pulses with some more wind but just in case I extended the z-bridle on the 19 mtr's FDS line to take care of that bit of a pucker. Thanks to John @ Powerzone I put one of those little pigtails on the z-bridle in case I need to lengthen it again. Thanks again John!

Sunday should be smokin'!

tridude - 5-9-2009 at 06:01 AM

forecast looks sweet for the weekend, 10 to 15 kts today, 15 to 20 kts tomorrow....................
tide cycle is spot on for glassy shallows inside the sandbar or take it outside in the breakers......................

tridude - 6-9-2009 at 06:35 PM

winds topped out at 23 to 26 kts around 5pm................Nate was fully depowered on the 10m Pulse and was boosting huge easy 25 footers and very floaty! Kitedoag was lit on his 8m P2 and I was rocking on the 13m V2.......................:lol::duh::duh:

tridude - 6-9-2009 at 06:38 PM

both Pulses were awesome in very punchy winds,,,,,,,,the 10m was boosting as high as any tube out there..........I popped a couple biggies on the V2....................:lol::duh::duh::crazy::crazy:

kitedog - 7-9-2009 at 07:35 AM

What an intense day! Wind was pumping...definitely the strongest all summer and the most wind I've been on the water in.

What a comedy of errors on the way to the beach though. First, I decided to play the gas game and lost. 2 miles to my exit and I came to a rolling stop on the side of the highway. 35 minutes later I was thanking Onstar for a quick pitstop.

Then, after I got to the beach, had my kite lines stretched, tip folded and sanded and my harness on, I decided it would be a good idea to give myself a dose of spray on suntan lotion. I proceeded to spray myself right in the face and the lotion (waterproof SPF 50) got in my eyes and REALLY messed up my contacts. I am still suffering and the 5 1/2 hour drive home SUCKED!

I swear, I learn something new every time I go kiting. Even if it isn't really about kiting.

Anyway, what an insane day. Nate was popping some huge air on the Pulse 1 10 mtr and Don was shredding upwind with the PL V2 13 mtr. My Pulse 2 8 was fully powered. It was epic!

Greg

tridude - 7-9-2009 at 08:37 AM

good to see you made it home safely...................awesome session for everyone out yesterday............one of the best I saw out was the guy on the black and green 11m Slingshot Fuel.....................he was rippin and lit................the foils were well represented and thanks again forr letting me use the V2...................tide cycle in 2 weeks will be perfect.....winds seem to follow....................:thumbup::lol::lol::duh::duh:

http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=135670

Sullivan's is gonna be pumping Sunday. Anyone game?

Greg

BeamerBob - 17-9-2009 at 09:01 AM

I'm seeing 6-7 knots. Am I looking in the wrong place? Stuck at home prior to the wife being out of town most of next week.

kitedog - 17-9-2009 at 09:39 AM

Look down at the bottom.

G

tridude - 17-9-2009 at 09:52 AM

just checked windguru.............11 kts all day Sunday................Milford bouy site has 10 to 15 kts out of the east.....................19s look to be in order that day................the Red Arrow rocks at 12/13ish....................................I think Todd is headed this way for the 19m Venom..........................:lol::duh:

kitedog - 17-9-2009 at 11:04 AM

The Silver Angel and the Red Devil will own the beach!

Gonna try to make this happen for Sunday. I'm juggling my daughter's 5th birthday on Saturday and inlaws in town but those all seem like perfect excuses for escaping to the beach on Sunday! Have to use my powers of persuasion.

G

tridude - 17-9-2009 at 01:11 PM

Beamer Bob, Phree, Angus?

BeamerBob - 17-9-2009 at 02:18 PM

The wife is gone most of next week so we'll be staying close to home this weekend.

PHREERIDER - 17-9-2009 at 03:55 PM

tridude - 17-9-2009 at 04:04 PM

kitedog - 18-9-2009 at 06:26 AM

Cool Phree...bring that new landboard. I wanna check it out! I'll bring mine as well but it may still stay in the car if the water is beckoning. We'll try to get there around noon.

G

PHREERIDER - 18-9-2009 at 06:59 AM

the eastern puff on sunday still solid on the forecast

kitedog - 18-9-2009 at 02:44 PM

I'll bring the PL V2 13 as well.

Do you know why the forecasts at the bottom of windguru don't match the top?

tridude - 18-9-2009 at 04:32 PM

windguru has two forecasters............................

kitedog - 18-9-2009 at 05:13 PM

My trip might have just gotten hosed. There's a new Kathryn Heigl movie filming in town and we just got a call for a couple of background dogs and we'll be handling them on screen! With an early Monday call time, the Sunday kitesurfing marathon may be too much to squeeze in. It's killing me but they're not going to change the shooting schedule for us. I'm gonna miss jamming with you guys.

Greg

tridude - 18-9-2009 at 05:55 PM

sorry to hear that.........................

kitedog - 18-9-2009 at 06:00 PM

You're not the only one...kickin' myself. There'll be other days (BIG sigh!)

Who is that?

kitedog - 19-9-2009 at 06:01 PM

Katherine Heigl is a red carpet diva known for her roles in "Grey's Anatomy" and "Knocked Up." She's basically a blonde bombshell. We probably won't even see her. Good credit for us though. I'm gonna be dying tomorrow thinking about kiting.

tridude - 19-9-2009 at 06:20 PM

sorry you cant make it Greg.........................Phree, Ill be at 28.5 around 1130

tridude - 20-9-2009 at 06:31 AM

Have fun! Report back and let me know what I missed.

BeamerBob - 20-9-2009 at 03:23 PM

I felt like Santa Clause missed my house the whole day. I'm jonesing for a phantom water day.

tridude - 20-9-2009 at 03:59 PM

Santa def came to Sullis today as did Phree.....................winds were 12 to 15ish around noon but with big holes............winds kicked in solid to 20+ around 3pm.............Phree and I were rippin...........speed runs with big airs.....................:thumbup::lol::lol::duh::duh:

PHREERIDER - 21-9-2009 at 05:38 AM

inside had a big flat spot in front of the sand bar and very crowded, but outside just like home big rollers and all. plenty of wind . great spot , station 28 sullivan's island

tridude - 21-9-2009 at 05:47 PM

Phree was rippin inside and outside...............shame about the board but a sun cure fix should do the trick.................................thanks again for the linear tip.........winds 15 to 20 tomorrow so a quick post work session most likely in order.................................:o:o:lol::lol::duh::duh:

mgatc - 21-9-2009 at 06:23 PM

Hijack: Gregg, you survive the rains? Sounds pretty bad.
m

BeamerBob - 22-9-2009 at 08:32 AM

Angus heard this morning that both kitedog, and Kullas that live north of Atlanta, had some washing on their driveways, but no loss of life, limb, or property to speak of. My cousin, Airhunter faired well too. 12000 people in the greater Atlanta area are without power this morning.

tridude - 22-9-2009 at 11:04 AM

Greg mentioned to me Sunday that the rain canceled his shoot which caused him to miss Sullis..............
hi is planning a retune trip arounf the 2nd/3rd October then continuing down to Jekyll................a sesh here and down at kite beach works for me.....................who knows:wow: I may come home with a buggy:wow::lol::lol::duh::duh:

BeamerBob - 22-9-2009 at 11:20 AM

My schedule is opening up the next weekend of the 10th. I'll post up and find out where some buds are getting in the water. Offshores or low winds just shift me to the buggy. I have 2 new kites to exercise in the buggy too.

tridude - 22-9-2009 at 01:02 PM

10th sounds good Bob...Ive got a nice lil buggy motor for you to try as well.............................

u2us dont work...........................

lad - 23-9-2009 at 03:55 PM

Total U2U's in all folders needs to be less than 100 to reply to someone - delete excess ones.

Sometimes I have to keep trying because the #@!&^ delete or move to trash option don't actually work, even after it tells you it was successful!

That way, you can successfully reply to all of the waiting, wondering buyers out there.....

lad - 23-9-2009 at 07:23 PM

Todd, Do you mean THIS 19m Venom.

The one I apparently lost out to kamaikuza for?

Then was mysteriously withdrawn and then promised to you for pickup weeks ago?

Then equally mysteriously shows up last week in a Foilzone Classified, offered by one "Tridude" in the USA?

THAT 19m Venom?

Ah...whaddaheck do I know?

I'm still waiting to hear back on that 15m Syn I was promised in both public and U2U exchanges.

Those sudden U2U outages are surrrre funny things...usin komputerz can be so hard...they make my head hurtz sometimez...

Kamikuza - 24-9-2009 at 05:51 AM

Whoops ... not so reliable after all, hmm?

BeamerBob - 24-9-2009 at 06:58 AM

Guys, I'm pretty close friends with tridude. I probably chat with him on the phone more than anyone else in kiting. I don't know about all the details of your communications with him but I'll add what I do know. Tridude took a new job back in the spring that seems to be more than full time. Just before this, he developed some issues with his computer that limited his participation here to the point where he didn't post for 2 months or more. Several times I called to check on his health and well being because I didn't hear from him for so long. I'm not sure he has that stuff resolved with his computer even today. Acampbell and mgatc have also had conversations with me about being concerned for tridude since none of us could get in touch with him at times. In addition, he has a technical problem with his U2Us here in that his box is full but he can't delete any of them while on his home or work computers so he is stuck it would seem. Without any of us knowing the whole story of all this, realize that he has been much more difficult for even his closest friends in kiting to get in touch with at times certainly by U2U, also by email and at times even by home or cell phones. This might not reduce your ire you have towards him right now for issues you have with failed transactions, but I'm sure it isn't personal or at all common during the almost 3 years I've been friends with him.

lad - 24-9-2009 at 08:32 AM

From previous postings, I recognize Tridude as a knowledgable, experienced and valuable contributor here. In fact, his insights have been instrumental in my quiver decisions and I respect him for it. He is a smart and trusted resource and I always look forward to his postings.

But at least THREE (that I know about) well-posted PKFers here have been completely baffled by his sudden drop off of all communications during a 99% already-concluded kite deal.

It's not unreasonable to expect at least some kind of follow up explanation for this, either in the forums, phone calls, emails or restored U2Us.

Better offers, local sales, second thoughts - all legit reasons to drop a deal in my book. Not very courteous, but legit. Heck, I wouldn't care if he suddenly decided he didn't like me for some reason. At least that's a reason - and I'm a reasonable guy! ;)

Todd - 24-9-2009 at 02:01 PM

.

kitedog - 24-9-2009 at 02:59 PM

Hey Todd!

I don't know the details of your transaction but I do know that Tridude told me at one point that you were going to pick that kite up. It doesn't sound like that happened. He's a stand-up guy so I'm sure its just a misunderstanding.

At any rate, this business ought to find another thread or go private.

Greg

tridude - 24-9-2009 at 03:45 PM

my my.........let me say this.......I had a couple of concerns with both kites and after much thought I decided not to sell them to anyone I dont know..............nothing personal at all............as for the lack of comm again Im having comp issues..................

Kamikuza - 24-9-2009 at 03:59 PM

That just doesn't make any sense ... you offered the kites for sale to all, then you realized there was a problem with them so you sold them to your friends???

Todd - 24-9-2009 at 04:01 PM

I'm done. Mods may clean up this thread and restore it to it's original form. Sorry to put you through all of the work.

tridude - 26-9-2009 at 02:02 PM

low tides coming the 3rd and 4th.........BBob coming to town on the 10th..........................let me hear from you!!!

kitedog - 28-9-2009 at 06:28 PM

Looks like it was howling today. Were you there Don? My bro comes to town on Wednesday evening. I think we could be there on the 3rd and 4th. Does the wind look promising? I'm worried because it looks like its shutting off along the south eastern seaboard. Let me know what you think.
