way too expensive for me, i think ill buy a synergy

i wouldnt go by those prices, they ARE NOT confirmed. there are no available Chargers anywhere. currently there is only 30 Chargers in the world, and all with TRs.

I will add one thing to this, because it took me by surprise. The Charger kite only price will be cheaper then the price of the Synergy when the Synergy was first released. I had forgot that the Synergy had a price drop a while back. So don't expect the price to be cheaper than the current synergy kite only price and definitely not cheaper than the current close out pricing for those of you got to take advantage of that

im taking advantage of that close out price, im glad i waited. Though i am a bit worried that i could get scammed at this price O.o

does anyone remember how much a syn cost when they first hit the market?

BeamerBob - 9-11-2009 at 01:31 PM

$999 and $1079 for the 12 and 15 complete. $749 and $829 kite only. That is MSRP from PL.

That is what i thought as well BB, but they were higher when they first came out. I will try and find the original if i can, not that it will really matter but it will give some sort of idea.

BeamerBob - 9-11-2009 at 01:37 PM

That is on a price list I have from back in March and a newer one as well. I stand corrected if my info isn't accurate.

DAKITEZ - 9-11-2009 at 01:46 PM

Unfortunately i do not have the original list either. I did have a conversation about this with Marijn when I was ordering your kite. He told me it was so long ago that the price was dropped that most had forgot about it. I think honestly we in the states never knew the original price because the synergy had been out awhile before we all took on PL as dealers. I have a rough idea what my cost on a charger 15m is, but I don't want to spread rumors on non-official information.

acampbell - 9-11-2009 at 02:04 PM

Remember that their whole distribution model changed after the Syn first came out, so dealers did not have those retail prices. If they are comparing to those prices then yeah my Toyota was cheaper too. ;)

syns were released in Dec 2007 ... i could go back if you really wanted but it will be in CAN Funds.

lol. canadians in front again, Dino wears a skirt. :moon:

-mj- - 14-11-2009 at 02:46 AM

Winds in Germany never got over 10 knots, but yeah the 19 flew (barely, pre inflated with the tent, and on 50m lines)
unfortunately enough because this event was set out to be the biggest Euro KLB event ever.

I almost don't dare to say but Chargers comin in real soon now, I can't give a exact releasedate though untill the factory ships them out.
Our director is going for talks with the factory now because of all the delays we had to cope with this year.

herc - 14-11-2009 at 03:13 AM

@marijn:
i can understand your situation. a relative of mine is running a business where he sells carp fishing gear (tents, rods and stuff) and the tents and sleeping bags are produced in china. they had all sort of difficulties (loong delays, oversea shipping problems, rotten stuff because things got wet, and alternating manufacturing quality)...
how do you handle shifting quality ? do you test the kites after they arrive at your warehouse? at least a random sampling? would be a great thing..
there is this story about one shipment of pl scorpions in 13sqm was not sewn correctly..

@all: what would you think? would the 15sqm charger be the optimal size for the lower wind days? or even the 12sqm ? but i suppose the old rule of subtracting 2 sqm to get an equivalent tube size still holds? but then i already have a 10.5 naish helix 09 tube kite - so the 15 sqm would fit in better.. (imass: 62kg)

Bladerunner - 14-11-2009 at 09:49 AM

I am happy to hear that someone is working on the production issues.

Even if the Charger comes out " soon " the timing isn't as good ( for me at least ). It will be too late for Christmas then Jan - Mar. tend to be slow months . I suppose that may not apply to an international market though ?

I bought 3 used and new P.L. kites with the money I had set aside for my Charger. Now I have to save up again.

Same here. I had cash in the bank in late September. Now I have a venom 13 and 19m. I also replaced my 12m synergy with a 15. I'll be set for awhile now.

tridude - 16-11-2009 at 08:17 AM

I viewed a couple of Charger/kitesurfing vids on you tube over the weekend.......I believe it was a 15m in 10/11 up to 13/14...................there was a wind meter in the field of view but I couldnt make out kts or mph..........................the kite looked stiff, worked upwind, and jumped well..................................

herc - 16-11-2009 at 09:00 AM

yes, that video is quite impressive! but still i am not sure if the jump from synergy to charger is that large as promised. we will see if first user reviews are going in.

ripsessionkites - 20-11-2009 at 06:14 AM

Holy Crap!!! Guess I'll be hanging on to my VII's a little longer...

power - 20-11-2009 at 09:39 AM

I don't get what makes a bar so expensive. Its just not very complicated of a thing, at least it shouldn't cost over 200.

carltb - 20-11-2009 at 12:10 PM

THE CHARGER IS IMMINENT IN THE UK, 1ST DECEMBER IVE HEARD

Well for what it's worth, it does appear to have a lot of engineering into it with adjustable width, new safety at the chicken loop, adjustable throw. And they all come with 3m line extensions. But yeah I blinked too and I kinda knew it was coming.

kiteNH - 20-11-2009 at 12:29 PM

Looks like the Navigator is only $315 if you get it with a new Charger. That seems pretty reasonable to me.

ripsessionkites - 20-11-2009 at 12:32 PM

the bar is supplied with lines

the Twinskin Bar RTF is $ 390.00 USD

its its only 90.00 more if you think about it.

it would be nice if they ship Kite + Bar ... I could use my old lines.

stephdip - 20-11-2009 at 02:17 PM

yep !!! not that bad

i can't wait,ican't wait,i can't wait:singing::roll::wee::spin:

Bladerunner - 20-11-2009 at 05:20 PM

Am I correct in the opinion that any long throw bar will get the most out of your new Charger ?
That the zero 7 bar will work but you won't get the most of the kite ?

Would it not be possible to just put a kit on your zero7 ( or other 4 line bar) to make it long throw? I think Best sell a kit for 1 or $150 ???

Any chance P.L. will sell a kit to upgrade your Zero7's throw ?

herc - 21-11-2009 at 01:16 AM

@Bladerunner: as the chargers new bridle is basically the old VPC system with added pulleys that double the steering impulse (afaik), i am quite sure that any normal kitesurfing bar with long throw will work fantastic on the charger. i am using a SLE naish 2009 bar for my scorpion. works fantastic, see my youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7EBwSDB5mg .

Bladerunner - 21-11-2009 at 10:36 AM

It was while watching that video that I saw what looks like the perfect bar to me. I'm glad you spoke up.
Naish know their stuff
I am too lazy to check but I doubt your bar goes for the price the Nav' is reported to be ?

I have to think that with VP3 and a stiffer kite you should see huge improvement even on you old P.L. bar?

I think the Nav' has it all. I would hate to think that people may shy away from a great kite because they can't afford the bar .
I doubt there will be a substitute for the Charger but I see options for controling it ?

herc - 21-11-2009 at 10:53 AM

well, the naish bar is not bad, but it hase imho some drawbacks:

1. the swivel does not really turn (maybe if you put some special weapon oil on it)
2. if the swivel would finally turn, the yellow safety line that goes to one frontline would tangle around the depower chord. if too often wound around the depower , a would be afraid that it would not properly work if quickreleased.

but otherwise, i really like my naish bar. and you can often get it on ebay for a bargain.

kiteNH - 21-11-2009 at 11:09 AM

Is the Synergy bar the Zero 7?

Yes, although it's just called the "Twinskin bar" bar now, as they don't associate it with a year anymore.

Bladerunner - 21-11-2009 at 11:59 AM

Sorry,

My Syn has a " twin skin " bar. I just like saying Zero 7 . Sounds so 007 !

I am not going to allow the cost of the Navigator stop me from ordering a Charger.

ripsessionkites - 21-11-2009 at 02:14 PM

If he is, no matter... search for his vids on youtube and you'll see how much he's put into the sport....

Bladerunner - 23-11-2009 at 07:31 AM

I see what you are thinking Power

It will take a little searching but we had a great discussion about what sponsorship / team riding gets you last spring.

Lets just say. Keep your day job !:D

go big or go home

the windrange for the 15 and the 19 are nearly the same. I like bigger kites than smaller ones (same thing applies for me when buggying with short lines) ....

a. im light so ill float more
b. i've pushed the 15 / 16m arcs to the limit and than some, so the windrange is WIDE.
c. i was looking at the low end more than the high end
d. i plan on kitesurfing for the winter months (thx BR for the Drysuit) GP just became my new sandbar "the ring".

Lets ride!!! CHARGE!!!
