2.1 shmoo.1. I want one of everything, and screaming deals make me happy. Tooooo much time on hands. Rip, you could double the prices and I still don't think it would be worth the headache. Good man.:karate::thumbup:

??? Am I an old fart, but just a youngin' to kiting. I'm assuming most here were in diapers or a gleam in their daddy's eye 40 years ago!
Assumed that power kiting started in the late 90's. Did I miss something in my younger years!!!!! Am I historically disfunctional!! I've been called a crazy old man....so have at it! Open season on Leojim

70's for 2-line foils, mid 80's for four line

I was around but in the aviation biz at the time and knew nothing of them.

bobalooie57 - 14-12-2010 at 09:13 AM

@LJ sometimes it's just hard to think about the 80's being 30 years ago! hehehe...

Nuttin like good ole wikipedia for a history lesson! It's hard to imagine it took so many years to develop from a curiousity to a viable sport. But then, Otto Lilienthal (1848-1896) made over 2,000 "hang gliding" flights yet the sport didn't kick off until the 1970's when the hippies picked up on the Rogallo wing (developed 1948).
I guess when the right factors come together all of a sudden it becomes available to the masses.

heliboy50 - 14-12-2010 at 12:07 PM

@ Feyd- WOW- no wonder I can't sell stickers to save my life. I once misspelled my own business name on a banner and no one noticed until my mom saw it like a week later. :embarrased::puzzled:

@ Rip- I think the venom bags might be more popular because of the logo. The "V" is a cobra and looks pretty neat.

-edit for spelling errors- I give up:wow:

rocfighter - 15-12-2010 at 06:12 AM

As others I have no gain from this for sale add. I did post on it but just to ask questions. I had no intent on a purchase. I feel as others do that this is in no way a violation of any rules.
I also want to say that is saddens me that one negative post like this can send this forum into such a tailspin. Rip was being a good guy and it all got sucked into a black hole of crap.
If this was old jonesy or some one else with an axe to grind it worked. I'm very dissapointed in the way this is ending and I hope it all gets ironed out soon. I would like to think that we are more grown up then to let this split us apart. Lets change the attitude and move on in a more friendly manour.
We are a family of people who most have never even met. And yet we call ourselves friends. So lets take a deep breath and have a piece of cake and start back on the right path.
Ok, Dave.

Maven454 - 15-12-2010 at 06:17 AM

What I think is sad is that someone asked a simple, reasonable question and everyone is acting like he kicked their dog. Perhaps he should have used the report button, but that's no reason for the kind of response that has happened.

This used to be a open welcoming community, now new people can't show up without being accused of being jonesband. People are suddenly so ready to assume the absolute worst about others and read all kinds of nastiness into their posts.

rocfighter - 15-12-2010 at 06:24 AM

Maven I agree, And as for your first post you were correct to ask the question. You made no statement just asked a question.
Lets all just get it out and have a good day.
OK group hugg and a patt on the back. I need to go bring in fire wood. It's to cold in here.

Not to be divisive but Maven, you were the first to use a backhanded compliment as a personal insult on kitee. Your other posts were high road. The questions weren't posted in an innocent inquisitive manner but in an accusatory tone bound to illicit a strong response. 2 of the posters raising questions were relatively new names here (or first post) so our suspicions of a troll were warranted IMHO. Geokite is the exception of those wanting the question of impropriety asked. He is a regular poster here, did so with class and without being inflammatory. If everyone had asked the way geo did, this wouldn't be an issue. So its not that the question was asked but that it was asked in an inflammatory tone by people we aren't familiar with.

Surely anyone concerned about this thread has reported it and the post isn't closed so apparently it isn't considered a gratuitous commercial post. So lets just move on.

Mine wasn't meant as an insult of any kind. Unlike those of you who haven't met him, I like The Doctor.

rocfighter - 15-12-2010 at 10:11 AM

The Kidd would be very interested in knowing about C-Quads as well. We have a few and he loves them.

krumly - 15-12-2010 at 02:00 PM

I'm normally one to keep stuff on thread, and have carped to a few about starting threads in sections that have nothing to do with the subject. But as long as this one is so f'in off track...

C-Quads are awesome. You can piss and moan that they are hard to coil and bag, that spars can break if you crash 'em, or that you may have to do the walk of shame to relaunch if you botch a landing. All true to a point, but if you can't deal with that, you obviously didn't start out flying stunt kites. I can't speak for anything bigger than the 4.2 m, but they are really fast and develop great power through that speed; they depower awesomely on handles (use long ones for max range); and they turn quick, with a tendency to oversteer. Closest comparison I can make is to a detuned REV Supersonic or Shockwave, which if you've flown one, you know how quick those handle.

I am looking to enlarge the quiver, not just for novelty, but because they are great traction kites and really fun to fly.

absolutely the truth here...... i hang out at jamsession (a music forum) and though there are certainly differences there--i have not seen even one example of acrimony directed at anyone there...... i think some people here need to get laid........i say that last sentence jokingly of course......

NJLandboarder - 15-12-2010 at 06:26 PM

im am soo buying a venom bag or maybe a vortex or a scorpion to use as a backpack for school! or whatever i may need it for

which bag is the biggest? and are these the ones wiht unzippable bottoms for expansion?

heliboy50 - 15-12-2010 at 09:06 PM

The bags vary somewhat in size, but any of them would hold more than you could lift or the seems would hold if loaded with school stuff:smilegrin: The venom 1 and scorp bags are the expandable type, as is the phanny bag I think, although I have yet to have a chance to unpack mine so I can't really comment on its configuration. They are all pretty cool with lots of important looking loops, zippers, and pockets.

Kamikuza - 15-12-2010 at 10:11 PM

You could always rip out the netting and internal bits used for expanding the bag and sew the zip shut. The other option is getting a fixed bridle bag - my Core has a very nice bag :)

... seem to remember the Phanny had an expandable bag too ...

awindofchange - 15-12-2010 at 10:20 PM

I too have a bunch of older PL bags. If there are any interest I will dig through our back room and see what is there. I know there are some Bomba and Guerilla bags...I think some Phantom bags as well. e-mail me if your interested and I will see what we have. These have nothing to do with Rip's deal and I don't wish to hijack his thread with this post.

Kamikuza - 16-12-2010 at 01:16 AM

Do you have any Ozone Megatron chicken loops?

Rip,
I'd still love to have one of those Venom 10 bags whatever the cost, hate having a kite without the proper bag.
Thanks

sorry again for the delays, but im still on schedule as it did arrive shortly after X-Mas.

shehatesmyhobbies - 26-12-2010 at 06:53 PM

Excited, but patient here! Hit me with a u2u when you are ready! Thanks again Ricardo. I may even try and grab a bag if there are any left!

g-force junkie - 26-12-2010 at 08:08 PM

Sorry if that felt like pressure, none intended and no hurry

BeamerBob - 26-12-2010 at 08:24 PM

Phannies in da house!

shehatesmyhobbies - 27-12-2010 at 02:43 PM

G force, my post was in no reflection of your post. Sorry if I made it seam that way! Party on!

ripsessionkites - 30-12-2010 at 12:22 AM

2 phanny left.

Bags no ETA yet. Holiday delivery sucks.

Thx again everyone. =)

rocfighter - 30-12-2010 at 06:56 AM

Very temting Rip. But 18m is a bit large for a first Depower, and right now the money is tight. Just for laughs what would bar and lines cost for this beast?

Todd - 5-1-2011 at 03:05 PM

Wow, unused brand spanking new Phantom WITH a phantom T-shirt for the boy.

Thank you Riccardo!

shehatesmyhobbies - 5-1-2011 at 03:52 PM

Mine is in Todd's box, I can't wait to get to it.. Sounds like a small road trip is in order!

Thanks again Ricardo!

BeamerBob - 8-1-2011 at 07:17 PM

Wow, getting a brand new Phantom in a brand new bag with everything still wrapped up in the plastic is quite a privilege. Didn't know there would be a tshirt neatly folded in the bag. I think I'll do a video of its first unpacking so everyone can enjoy. Now Ricky can you send me some wind? I'll cover shipping. ;-)

ARCitect - 18-1-2011 at 05:00 AM

Hello!

Is there any possibility to buy one of this F ARC 1600 if I live in Europe?

TIA

AD72 - 5-5-2011 at 04:52 PM

So has anyone out there used their new old stock kites from this buy? In particular I would like to hear if the 18M Phantom lived up to the hype. What conditions and board or buggy did you use?

BeamerBob - 5-5-2011 at 04:58 PM

I am just about to go give mine its inaugural flight. I was hoping for a buggy run today but the wind is light and variable. I've used Angus's 18 twice now and it is a pure joy to fly. Both times, I was surprised at how much the 18 flies like the 15 but it just doesn't need as much wind. It is truly a gentle giant. My first flight was at Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine FL and the recent flight was at Jekyll Island last fall.

macboy - 5-5-2011 at 06:58 PM

Yup - I second the "flies like the 15". I was stunned the first time I flew mine.

BeamerBob - 5-5-2011 at 07:39 PM

Just flew mine static. Ran video of the whole process. Not many ever got to see an 18m Phantom have the plastic removed for the first time so I thought it was worth recording. Launch was sketchy because the wind cut in half at launch time. No bowties or inverts though. It was slow but up she went. I missed launch assistant tabs though. Vid to be posted after editing.

A super easy mod is to add about 1" of velcro to the deflate zip pull tab. Works a treat. ;)

sand flea - 7-5-2011 at 08:29 AM

I haven't had a chance to try mine yet.
Hopefully, you and Flexi will come up for SOBB again this year and you guys will show me how.
That was great fun,
Chris

Bladerunner - 7-5-2011 at 09:26 AM

I got mine out for it's virgin fly last weekend. I can see how it would shine in a wide open space. I was pretty impressed with the turning speed.

I will have mine down at SOBB. We will have to fly them together. Mine will be the one up front !
