doddg - 6-10-2011 at 08:31 PM

I sold my Blowcart a few years ago, wish I still had it....Looking forward to meeting and flying with all of you!

shehatesmyhobbies - 7-10-2011 at 06:43 AM

martinipro as for the winds, yes unpredictable, but usually from the NW during the fall bash, ranging from 5mph to 25mph. I would be prepared for almost anything. Hard to nail down what everyone is flying due to the wide range of experience on the beach. Some will be flying 3m kites in the same winds others would fly 5m in. Some fly 10m depower where others would be flying 15m depower kites. Best to be prepared.

As far as bigfoots, yes would be helpful. The beach has a tendency to have a decent amount of hardpack for buggying about 2 hours or so on either side of the tide. If the tide is all the way up, the bigfoots will enable you to get a lot more time in the buggy for sure.

van - 7-10-2011 at 07:37 AM

We need to get the Vortex Aerial folks out there and do some filming. They have some slick toys. I'm gonna have to brush up my skills on the RC helicopter and try this out with my go pro.

shehatesmyhobbies - 9-10-2011 at 11:55 AM

Almost can't stand it! I will be on WW beach in T-minus 10 days! Can't wait to see you guys soon!

frankiter - 12-10-2011 at 06:21 PM

Turns out my steady kite bro Pokite won't be able to make it to the Bash. Sooooo, being the last minute guy that I am, I gotta ask, does anybody at the Shalimar need a roomate?

If not, I'll be getting a room and looking for a roomate myself! Shoot me a u2u if interested. I'll be there Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Not sure yet tho if I'll stay over on Saturday night.

rocfighter - 12-10-2011 at 07:10 PM

shehatesmyhobbies - 13-10-2011 at 08:44 AM

snowspider - 14-10-2011 at 09:38 PM

I'm so excited about this WBB I could'nt resist building another buggy type thing this evening. When I asked my boys what I should name it one of them just shook his head and said nothing the other said "it looks like a #@%$#!roach." Scratch the chrome paint idea, got to buy some brown now.
Ramps, rip stick, unicycle, atb, slackline, two buggies, one "#@%$#!roach", 10 kites, two kids , add a some wind and good weather, we're going to have a good time!

van - 14-10-2011 at 09:45 PM

Thanks Todd, I have one more box coming on monday ( XR+ upgrade rails and 3 seats)

wheresthewind? - 15-10-2011 at 10:35 AM

Todd - 15-10-2011 at 04:49 PM

No sign of them as far as I know but I'll double check in the morning with Maria.

rocfighter - 16-10-2011 at 06:17 PM

Patrick if this is anything like your other home brews I'm sure we are all in for a treat. Can't wait to see it.

buggydanny - 17-10-2011 at 07:47 AM

markite - 22-10-2011 at 06:06 PM

come on guys your driving us crazy skimming the forum every couple of hours to see if anyone is posting anything from what's happening at WW. Tell us some stories!

shehatesmyhobbies - 22-10-2011 at 10:12 PM

Oops, sorry about that folks. The bash has been outstanding. I arrived Wed, 6 of us pretty much had the beach to ourselves for straight on 12-15 mph winds. Complete end to end runs till the rains came. Lots more showed up Thursday for some great action with winds coming straight down the beach at 25+ all day. Some guys logged close to thirty miles 1/4 mile at a time. Friday was blowing almost straight off with a little side thrown in to make it interesting. Winds were still in the 20 mph range most of the day then backing off a little bit towards the end of the day. Today was only forecast to be in the 10 mph range but was better than expected. Topped off by a great night of BBQ, and raffle. The hanging out at night is sometimes the best part for me. Sitting and talking kite stuff with kite people is a great thing. The stories are always the best. Another great bash almost in the books and everyone looking to start planning to attend the next bash.

One of the highlights were the French Canadians that made the trek down. What a great group of guys. The best entertainment at night time even if you don't know French. Not to mention they are all fast in there buggies.

About 230 today we had a little tribute to A.J. A big group of us stood at the waters edge and static flew while the tribute kite that Glen made was released.( don't worry, earth friendly) . Pretty emotional moment as it flew till it was out of site.
By far the best WBB yet.
I am sure many post to come by those who attended.

markite - 22-10-2011 at 11:03 PM

Thanks for the update - very nice memorial for AJ
You should ask Claude about some of the buggy games they play. They do timed obstacle course at St Honoré that involves placing buckets around a course and having a bunch of tennis balls and racing around depositing the balls as you try and pass by as close and fast as possible. Claude also does all the DJ work and kite talk at most of the Québec events. Good group that know how to enjoy themselves and I know there was a lot of buzz on the French forum leading up to WW and they were all petty stoked to go.

shehatesmyhobbies - 23-10-2011 at 04:05 AM

I have had plenty of conversations with Claude. Very inspirational. I will definitely ask him about the games they play.

Bigbear97e - 23-10-2011 at 07:11 AM

Can wait 'til people have had a chance to upload pics and video... sounds like a blast

shehatesmyhobbies - 23-10-2011 at 02:18 PM

Bear, the helmet went to a great home, thanks for making this deal affordable to give it away at a great event. One of the young kids from the Power kite club at the local high school we helped get started and sponsor won it, it could not have been a better fit!

I am sure there will be plenty of great pics and video to come!

WELDNGOD - 23-10-2011 at 06:51 PM

Just got home. AWESOME!!! :D What a bash! I'm exhausted.... and I wish I was still there... ,some folks are still there (lucky bas#$%s). Claude is a great guy, and so are the rest of the french Canadians he brought with him.I couldn't understand anything they said ,but some things are universal . I deffo could PARTY w/ those guys, but ya better not pass out.
I finally got to meet Dino, WAY cool Bro' he is. I have talked to Dino on PKF for yrs., I kind of already felt like we were already friends, even though we never met face to face .It was nice to meet some of the newer members as well. Thanks to everyone who came and participated, or even hung out and watched or just took pics. ( You know how kiters like pics) Joecat aka LBJ brought the WCHS club out on Sat., it was awesome to see the next generation in kiting ,out there. Without them we don't have a future as a sport.(nice story about the username Joe,and yes, you are an LBJ )
I'm so tired, I can't hardly think , I'll post more later

Kober - 23-10-2011 at 07:05 PM

I see Benoit (Ben) from Concept Air also made it down - everyone is smiling!

ragden - 24-10-2011 at 04:41 AM

Wife came down to the beach on Saturday and took a few pictures. Posted below:

https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/sredir?uname=michael.d.march...

This was, by far, the best bash I've been at yet. Logged over 72 miles on Friday, and nearly 60 on Saturday. Sunday was a bust, but that meant a nice drive home. I'm gonna be sore for awhile...

Thanks to everyone who came out. It was great fun. See ya next time.
;)

joecat - 24-10-2011 at 06:15 AM

Just wanted to say hi and thanks for welcoming me to the sport.

I was *encouraged* to join the forum, so here I am. :)

It's too bad I was only there on Sunday, but I had a good time anyway. I'm looking forward to next time.
