You guys have fun. Wish I could be there but gotta head to JAX on other business. See a bunch of you next week in Amelia Island!

PHREERIDER - 7-2-2009 at 05:15 PM

hope beech island polo had wind, should have been good through the midday and afternoon.

got finished and free about 1pm caught low tide and a SW 10-15mph til about 4

phantom at AMELIA fully stoked on this rig see you guys then

pokitetrash - 10-2-2009 at 07:59 PM

Guys, I had a great time with everyone who came to our little field. Sorry the wind was flaky but I still had a great time, even getting totally tea bagged! Lets do it again soon before polo season if anyone wants to. I was told that Polo starts April, but then again, they mostly play during the week and if they do show up, we just wait 'em out for a couple of hours and then dodge the piles! How do you tell a happy buggier at Beech Island? Horse poo in their teeth! :smilegrin:Ok. That was uncalled for, but I really do always use my "mud" guard there. Hope some of you can meet up with us at Amelia Island this coming weekend. See the thread.

mgatc - 10-2-2009 at 09:01 PM

Poke, check the Aiken Meet Review thread for more comments and pix. It's fallen off the front page. Look under the "Meet up" header. More pix in the gallery.
Thanks again for setting this up.

Yo, I didn't know there was a new thread going for the Aiken recap. I posted this in the original Aiken Meet thread and wondered why it was awfull quiet! (Insert cricket sound here....)

I did get some video of some of you guys but not the superman stuff (I was one of 'em). I havent even looked at it yet since I've been working 12 hours each day this week and pretty much go to bed when I come home.

I'm glad many made use of the old RV, it's like my personal rolling clubhouse. I'll have it at Amelia Island also if I can park near where were flying.

Come back to Aiken soon!

Chris

tridude - 17-2-2009 at 11:05 AM

so whens the next get together??.............I was gonna travel up with my wife to Aiken Sat evening but stayed home instead................Pokite says Polo season begins in April....................Im good any weekend next month.....................................:duh::duh:

pokitetrash - 17-2-2009 at 11:49 AM

How about March 7/8? I'm off that weekend so I can bring the "Club House" RV out. Of course any weekend that folks want to come would be fine for members of Aiken Kite Club. Non members just need to fill out the form and get with one of the members who've flown there once they arrive for 'da rules.

tridude - 17-2-2009 at 12:01 PM

7/8th works for me.............................:lol::duh::duh:

harddrive8 - 17-2-2009 at 07:53 PM

7/8 wouldn't work well for me. Have prior plans. I'm looking forward to the next time I get to fly with ya'll again, whether it's this time around or next.

BeamerBob - 17-2-2009 at 07:56 PM

I know we have a baseball tournament that weekend. It could be local to Aiken/North Augusta though. If so, I could be free and there noon or so. There is a possibility that it could be in Atlanta, and that would knock me out. Time will tell.

tridude - 17-2-2009 at 09:11 PM

just got my Mar schedule....working the 7th and 8th.................................

tridude - 5-3-2009 at 09:28 AM

anyone up for the Saturday the 21st at BI........................Im off and its my oldest sons last day of spring break. Prob head up after an early morning surf session. He flies a 15m Syn as well. If Mgatc and BB show it will be an arc fest...................:duh::duh:

kitedog - 5-3-2009 at 09:42 AM

This could be good for me. I'll bring the newly acquired V2 13.

BeamerBob - 5-3-2009 at 10:44 AM

I'm out of town with the little guy for baseball. Tis the season now. I'll actually be in kitedogs backyard for the tournament.

kitedog - 5-3-2009 at 01:38 PM

Where's the baseball tourney?

mgatc - 5-3-2009 at 04:06 PM

Bob, seventh inning stretch will give you plenty of time to get that Phanny up for a lap or two before the top of the eighth:singing:

Checked the UPS tracking. The Big V and a bar is supposed to be delivered this evening. Feels like Christmas eve.

BeamerBob - 5-3-2009 at 06:43 PM

Phanny should be here early next week. Lines will be here tomorrow ironically. Along with the bigfoot conversion kit for the buggy and my 8.3 reactor. Christmas indeed! I could only hope for Christmas to be as good as Feb and March have been. Now I need to get to fly some kites and roll in the buggy instead of this collecting I've been doing. Congrats on the Venom!

mgatc - 5-3-2009 at 07:39 PM

Likewise on the Phantom. I think we need a Peter Lynn seminar sometime soon for all the neophites in SOFKA. Hmmmm........know of any competent PL users? Nobody comes to mind at the moment...............:spin:

Hello Tri? Phree? You listening?

tridude - 5-3-2009 at 07:45 PM

lets try for the 21st @ BI.......................do a good pre inflate and during launch keep tension on your front lines until shes off the deck...........................after that its smooth butter...............
:lol::duh::duh:

BeamerBob - 6-3-2009 at 04:40 AM

Man, I sure would like to get a lesson from the two masters. I'm quite committed that weekend already though. And right here in the back yard as well.

tridude - 6-3-2009 at 04:51 AM

no prob BB, we'll fly em up at Edisto.....................:duh::duh:

pokitetrash - 8-3-2009 at 01:57 PM

Hey Guys, I was out at OBE field in Aiken today with great winds , minimum 12 up to 20. Flew with a 2.5 Rage the whole time. I had what could have turned out as a tense confrontation with a couple on horseback. I didn't see them as they came up one of the dirt roads while I was already flying and rolling along. They stopped, watched for a minute and I stopped once I saw them but I was watching them instead of the kite and dumped my kite with the usual "POOMPF" of a hard leading edge bash and the lady's horse shied and got a little wound up and the guy yelled across that the kite was scaring their horses. I would love to have said "so what!!?, control your horses and ride elsewhere on the 400 acres...!" but knowing better and being ever the diplomat, I kissed their butts and packed up.

Just as a reminder, the Aiken field rules are #1, No Flying (static or rolling along) when ANYONE is on horseback (or if they are with their horses on foot). #2, see rule #1.

Anyway, after packing up, I went over to where they were grazing and resting and introduced myself and offfered sincere appologies, and they were very polite and thanked me for being understanding as well. So, crises averted, eveyone still happy (except for me having to stop my fun and turn my kitchen pass in mostly unused) and we can fly there another day.

So, if anyone comes to Aiken, please be mindfull of the risk of not getting to fly once you get there since the place is an equestrian facility and we're just a bunch of kiting hooligans so just be carfull of inadvertantly making contact with the locals. If you do: bow, scrape knuckles as you grovel backing away and wait them out. They usually don't stay long.

Oh, the guy turned out to be one of the 3 owners of the facility!

kitedog - 8-3-2009 at 02:31 PM

Good move on the diplomacy. We keep horses here and I have to be careful about flying the kites when my wife is working the horses.

Can you make it out to OBE field on the 21st?

pokitetrash - 8-3-2009 at 02:35 PM

I won't be able to come out to play on the 21st since I work night shift that weekend. I might try to come out before I head in to work as I pass the field on the way but I'm usually so beat from not really sleeping well during the day it takes about 4 cups of coffee just to get me to the point of puttting socks on! You guys will have to fly the missing man formation for me...

kitedog - 8-3-2009 at 02:43 PM

Too bad...we'll miss you. I hope the other arcoholics can make it.

Hey...what's the name of that equestrian farm anyway?

pokitetrash - 8-3-2009 at 04:59 PM

It's called Storm Branch Equestrian Club. They're trying to sell houses/lots on it.

tridude - 12-3-2009 at 06:38 AM

any one up for the 21st?

BeamerBob - 12-3-2009 at 06:41 AM

Looks like kitedog has it to himself at the moment.

mgatc - 12-3-2009 at 07:47 AM

Son and I are tentative. It could be an arc day

BeamerBob - 12-3-2009 at 07:55 AM

This hurts because my Phanny will be in this coming monday. I'd love the schooling and setup help I'd be sure to get. I'll just have to wait for Tridude to come to Edisto.

tridude - 12-3-2009 at 07:59 AM

yep, same here, if it goes off, Nate (home for spring break) and I will be there, he recently bought a 15m Synergy. Low tide is 1130 am so something here or at Phrees location could work too.................
:lol::duh::duh:

If Pokite, Kitedog, Harddrive, Sandman, and you can make it, we're in for BI..........:duh::duh:

Saturday, 21 March (Intellicast)

Wind Speed: 11Mph (17Km, 9Kts)
Wind Direction: 249° (WSW)
Partly Cloudy 67°

just enough south component for a water session at FB
just enough west to run the bugs or boards too
low tide around 1100ish/park opens at 1000
11mph is perfect for a 13/15, 15/15, or 15/19 stack job................:o

mgatc - 13-3-2009 at 05:54 AM

This might be a go. The trip, not the stacking! Have you looked at the swell forecast?
U2U sent.
Mel

tridude - 13-3-2009 at 07:11 AM

BeamerBob - 13-3-2009 at 08:43 AM

I'm scheduled for surgery early next week!

mgatc - 13-3-2009 at 10:42 AM

BB, the surgery is painless. It's the accompanying addiction that's gonna require years of re-hab....

kitedog - 13-3-2009 at 12:19 PM

I'm in for the 21st at Folly if no one is going to Aiken.

tridude - 13-3-2009 at 02:04 PM

sounds good Greg, and I see you've been "sized" too...................:lol::duh::duh: Phree, can you make it? Ive got a SS with your name all over it................:duh::duh:

kitedog - 13-3-2009 at 04:09 PM

Yes...I have succumbed. This is a recurring problem though. I had a similar issue with a couple of S arcs back two years ago. I'm looking forward to reacquainting myself.

I think we'll come in the night before, kite all day and then drive back. Any suggestions where to stay?

tridude - 13-3-2009 at 06:58 PM

http://www.mobilegeographics.com:81/calendar/month/1957.html

March tides for Folly......................depends on your budget. Holliday cabins at Folly is cozy, close, but $$$.....................

West Ashley has quite a few hotels, 15/20 mins from the beach..............................steer clear of Charleston proper or Mt Pleasant......very pricey...................breakfast at Hominy Grill downtown Chaz is a must do.............................
