I've never flown the reflex on low lift but there is something wrong here. A 3m Beamer this kite is not !

I'm not saying you are wrong just that there HAS to be something wrong with the kite.

Good move calling it back Scudley!

Something is wrong with the kite or it's setup.....in 10mph winds my SkyCountry 3m Escape is a brutal kite static flying:puzzled:

i said in an earlier post that the bridle was broken--i forget which side--thats why its not flying right......

Maven454 - 21-10-2009 at 11:44 AM

The kite is on it's way back to Scudley. Here's hoping (for his sake) that the issue was somehow caused by me not doing something right.

well.... theres no doubt that the bridle is broken--so its flyable, yes, but its not gonna fly right--shame they broke but it was bound to happen sooner or later--ive never seen a kite like that before--it looked like 8million people had flown it--i guess any kite will die eventually with tons of use.......

I picked up the Reflex 4 today. A quick look told me the problems: AoA adjustment was on the knot closest to the leading edge on right side and on the knot closest to the trailing edge on the left; the brake leaders were no where near the same length, 5"difference. Not surprising that the kite was not performing well. I am surprised it would fly at all. After a few minor adjustments to the bridles the kite should be just fine. Other than a little bird shlt, maybe field line paint, the kite is still in good shape.
It is pouring rain for the next few days, so it will be a while before I get to check if the minor fixes work, but I think it will be fine.

I didn't realize that it had AoA or I might have looked at that. Glad to hear that the kite is not too badly broken.

The worst repair is installing new brake leaders, very minor. The brake leader looks like it may have come into contact with a single line. That could have been me. The cut in the leader has a clean section and a frayed section. I think this indicates a delayed failure. So no blame is on anyone who tried the kite out.
Thanks to all who participated in "Pass the Reflex", I hope you had a good time with it.
