kitedog - 18-11-2009 at 09:53 AM
Can't make it this weekend. My folks are coming in and both my daughter and wife are fighting the crud so I'm on duty. I'll try to meet up with you
guys in Jekyll though.
Oh yeah...tried out a Liquid Force WLF 140x44 the other weekend. Great lightwind board for me so I picked one up on ebay for cheap.
Have fun this weekend. Wish I could be there!

Sullivan's is looking good for Monday. Tridude...are you off or back to work?
tridude - 27-11-2009 at 07:06 PM
sorry back to work on Monday...................took it to the south end of Sullis today for a bit of WNW action........12 to 17
kts.............Pulses' rocking, very stable.....................1 of 2 spots that in Chaz that hold NW/WNW direction....the other being the north end
of Folly.................semi tight launch area, in and out of the shipping channel, Ft Sumter about a 1/2 mile out..............basically you're in
the Charleston harbor...........................:duh::duh:
kitedog - 27-11-2009 at 07:22 PM
Too bad...it's looking like WSW 13-20 with a midday low tide. Is 28 1/2 street good for a WSW?
G
tridude - 29-11-2009 at 03:40 PM
only one out again today on the Nates 17m SA 1.5 and my new custom monster plydoor................tomorrow is nukin nad hope to meet Kitedog for a
lunch time session........................
acampbell - 29-11-2009 at 04:17 PM
I got skunked today. Forcast was light and variable but I saw a trend On the weatherflow station for east and took the trip. Launched the 10.8 reactor
in 4 mph and got 100 yards before it died, never to return besides a couple of brief teases. Nice day though; almost December and I'm wearing a
T-shirt and can see 30 miles.
tridude - 29-11-2009 at 04:34 PM
about 90 mins of Silverarrow winds this afternoon.......................you must have had O mph for that Reactor to be
skunked............................and yes the weather was awesome today........................70, sunny blue skies.............crystal
clear..................oh well this weekends BBFM has a promising forecast............................
tridude - 30-11-2009 at 10:36 AM
14 to 16 kts from the SW..........................Kitedog just arrived.....................should be an awesome sesh.............................stay
tuned.....................:duh::duh:

Atlanta kiteboarder assault on Sullis this afternoon.....................SW 14 to 16 kts...........................typical FSer upwind and aerial
show................................Kitedog workin it on his 12m and new board........sweet combo.................:duh::duh:
tridude - 30-11-2009 at 06:40 PM
thanks to all the ATL folks who made the trip.......................I think KD and I may have converted a couple
them...............................:duh::duh:
kitedog - 30-11-2009 at 08:47 PM
Just got home. Long drive but fully worth the trip. Can't wait to get back out again. First jumps...man, I thought I was hooked before! Flysurfers
rule!
Good seeing you Tridude! You grabbed some big air today!
G
tridude - 1-12-2009 at 05:23 AM
another awesome sesh Kitedog............your transitions and jumps were lookin very good...............you def had your 12 locked in........such a
good lookin kite in the air and stable as a rock...................I told you the 12m Speed 2 was a "jumping machine"............................no
doubt we will do this again soon........................:duh::duh:
kitedog - 1-12-2009 at 06:47 AM
Thanks Tridude! Sullivan's is my favorite. Lots of space even with lots of kites in the air. The Atlanta contingent was in effect. Maybe now I
have some peeps to share a ride with down there.
My progression is advancing slowly but surely. Next I want to learn some aerial transitions. Any hints?
G
PHREERIDER - 1-12-2009 at 07:05 AM
next couple of days big wind from the south, wednesday should be full on . 25mph + all day.
KD ---try cross wind line, moderate speed . set up like a jump just before the apex redirect the new direction expect down wind landing. maybe open
up arm to new direction to help with balance. remember LOOK where you want to go and that helps most redirect reflexes develop. get a good feel of
air speed for the day, land on your strong side if you have determined that.
kitedog - 1-12-2009 at 07:07 AM
looks like some rain though, huh? nice warm trend down there. I wish I lived closer... (big sigh)
PHREERIDER - 1-12-2009 at 07:15 AM
your gonna be wet any way? ton of great sessions in the rain
BeamerBob - 1-12-2009 at 07:20 AM
I've wondered about that. How much does the rain impede kite performance? I know we get them wet but then they dry off. If they are constantly
getting wet, does it slow things down?
kitedog - 1-12-2009 at 07:27 AM
I've been wondering about that too. Good to know that showers aren't a big deal. I guess thunder storms might be though!
PHREERIDER - 1-12-2009 at 07:35 AM
if the wind solid no problem. fall /winter rains here are ridable.
the sudden heavy rain contains odd wind patterns and should be avoided.
but if it 's been raining" all day " type thing and the wind is good no problem
hardest part the launch. gotta be quick to make it easy ....fartin' around with a wet sandy rig no fun ,AND DON'T OPERATE ZIPS IF SANDY AND WET.
leave them alone and work around it
tridude - 3-12-2009 at 02:19 PM
Sunday looking 15 to 20 kts NNE.........................woohoo................:duh::duh:
tridude - 4-12-2009 at 12:56 PM
Sunday holding strong 15 to 20 from the NE...................sideshore:duh::duh:
tridude - 5-12-2009 at 06:59 AM
ikitesurf, windguru, windmapper, windfinder, NOAA all call for 15 to 20 early, 10 to 15 in the afternoon, NE to NNE...............high tide at 10am
low tide at 430pm..............so come on down....................:duh::duh:
tridude - 6-12-2009 at 05:22 PM
11 to 14 kts..........the 19 and 12 in play...........................had the whole place to myself.................the 12 and Crazy fly combo worked
well...................:o:o:duh::duh:
kitedog - 6-12-2009 at 05:26 PM
Missed the action today. Family matters called. Wednesday is looking epic. Warm and windy. See if you can get some time during the day. Hope to
see you then!
Greg
tridude - 6-12-2009 at 07:07 PM
should be able to hit it for lunch around 1..........................
tridude - 6-12-2009 at 07:15 PM
high tide is 2 or so.........................when you get on the beach hang a left and set up there......beach is a lot
wider..................................forecast is SW 20 to 25 kts................10m Pulse and/:dunno:or the 10m Synergy will be in
play......................................:dunno::o:o:duh::duh:
kitedog - 6-12-2009 at 07:35 PM
I'll break the 8 mtr Pulse 2 out in those winds. We should be able to get there by 1 PM. That guy Rob who was at the beach last Monday wants to
share a ride. Hope to see you Wednesday!
tridude - 7-12-2009 at 06:14 AM
window of opportunity is tight but Im hoping to be there by 2:45..............................you should be lit on your 8m................Ill probably
put the 10m Synergy in play..........flew her static after yesterdays session in 12/13 kts.......................this kites gotta be good to at least
to 35 kts...................................Im guessing about 20 on the low end...................:dunno::dunno::duh::duh:
tridude - 10-12-2009 at 06:16 AM
Kitedog,
25 plus mph yesterday from the SSW..........................................any intel?:duh::duh:
kitedog - 10-12-2009 at 06:39 AM
Ridiculous day. I'd like to see a wind graph. Seriously...must have been gusts up over 20. The water was as choppy as I've ever been in and don't
even get me started about the rain. My Pulse 2 was in effect and even trimmed off all the way I was rocketing upwind.
I need a butter pond session after that!
Greg
tridude - 10-12-2009 at 06:46 AM
the tides were 180 off..........................next time we'll go to 3rd at IOP or Folly.............once you past the break its much
smoother........the sandbar at Sullis churns up a lot of waves/water when the wind gets honkin.......I had 26 gusting to 30 on the local
site................so the 8m Pulse 2 was rock stable..............how did she fly during the showers.......................OBTW with that session
successfully behind you promotes you to the intermediate level:duh::duh:
kitedog - 10-12-2009 at 07:42 AM
My new saying is "what doesn't kill you make you a better kiter!" Glad to join the ranks of intermediate kitersurfers.
There was a bunch of locals there that were doing downwinders to 3rd Street. Frankly, I was having a hard time going down wind at all. I need to
work on that!
Sullivan's was truly a cauldron yesterday. There wasn't any rhythm to the pitch of the swells. It really worked me. I'm glad I didn't lose or break
anything!
G
PHREERIDER - 10-12-2009 at 05:21 PM
tri/ KD i gotten a few sessions in around midday .
the SW thing yesterday WOW. big rollers . glad your getting the sessions.
KD on the down wind thing ..options to feel it out better
keep the kite in the upper part of the window, keep it FORWARD of you...
loosen up on TOP of the board , more tail pressure( kinda like slowly rolling to toeside) in a downwind run.
keep the kite active! be prepared to dive the kite to speed it up and fall back to keep everything hooked up. once you get it hooked a couple times
it s easy
2nd option
JUMP ! the action gets fast with landing down wind hot and heel edge hard to
pop again and again and again. this uses the very front of the wind window.
hardest part , giving up your up wind gain but when the wind is great , you get back easy on the next leg back.
SATURDAY NE coming!
tridude - 10-12-2009 at 06:12 PM
Phree,
where are you flying Saturday?
PHREERIDER - 10-12-2009 at 07:22 PM
if i can get it together with some shopping/dinner SAT. SULLI's if it works.
low tide start and wind combo sounds good. the blow will get here later in the day, so much better position up there for late am start.
i'll get that going. looks too good to pass, or hang for too late down here
tridude - 10-12-2009 at 07:34 PM
sounds good............... 28th or IOP 3rd..........Ill U2u my number......moms in town this weekend but I can get out for a few

kitedog - 11-12-2009 at 06:55 AM
Wish I could get back out with you guys. I think I used up my credits on Wednesday.
Good advice Phree...I'll have to try both those downwinder techniques next time I'm out. That was kinda frustrating and bass ackwards from what I'm
used to. Doing the reverse walk of shame was a strange experience.
Hope to see you guys sometime soon!

Nice vids. Awesome to see a kitesurf vid where you can see what the kite's doing. They always focus on the rider and I guess I'm more into what the
kite is doing. Talk about butter water! There was no surf at all. Cool to see the sandbar a foot under water as you went over it.
kitedog - 8-1-2010 at 10:08 AM
Sweet! Almost, but not quite, as good as being there! I'm jonesing bad!

tridude - 16-1-2010 at 06:32 AM
Sundays forecast is clearing in the afternoon with low tide around 3:30/4 pm so it should be nice....................winds forecasted SW (sideshore)

time will you be arriving................................
kitedog - 16-1-2010 at 07:37 AM
I think we'll try to leave at about 8:30 or so...that will get us there around 2. How does that sound? I'm psyched about the tide and good winds!
tridude - 16-1-2010 at 08:36 AM
that will give you about 2 hours on the water..............................................
kitedog - 16-1-2010 at 12:27 PM

Got a couple of hours in around low tide. Good wind and super low tide with smooth water. Not much room inside but I got some of my best jumps to
date. 8 mtr Pulse 2 in effect until rain swooped in a killed the wind and the session. Got my fix. Satisfied...at least for a little while.
