ChecS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s in the mail, Nigeria right?

rocfighter - 3-5-2010 at 07:03 PM

Is that 20,00 usd or EC?

rocfighter - 3-5-2010 at 07:04 PM

Hey any word on the abouve the boarder folks?

kteguru - 3-5-2010 at 08:54 PM

I was wondering if Don or anyone had any plans on making some t-shirts or something for this growing bash? I know I'd definately buy a couple. Maybe for the fall buggy bash?

ripsessionkites - 4-5-2010 at 01:41 AM

its not looking good for me right now, as a SuP just quit today. with one person less, im not forced to work extra days.
in light of this, i do require dates for the Fall Bash so i can plan ahead and have already been granted this.

who is in charge of the event? i would like to get some swag there in my absence should I have enough time to ship.
sorry if i've overlooked this, so many things on the go. not mention my "cousins" have delayed things again for the rest of world.

have a fun event, and wish you all great winds.

Always the cousins fault!

Closest thing to a person in charge would be Don Swords of powerkiteplace. But if you want some swag handed out, you can send it to me and let me know how you want it distributed, I'll take care of that for you. I've got pretty much everything I need, so should be fair and trustworthy to hand things out. Unless it's Ozone gear, I might have to walk off with that :D:lol:.

P.S. I received those handles for the kid that cheezycheese knows, thanks.

Todd - 4-5-2010 at 04:00 AM

RIP I don't know of an official person in charge has ever been assigned however Don@powerkiteplace.com in the past has set the dates for the bash. They usually have been around the same timeframe 2nd weekend of May for the spring and first weekend in October for the fall. This is all depending on the tide and if the planets align lol.

Todd - 4-5-2010 at 04:01 AM

Dogon Maven... you must of beat me by miutes man

I'll call Don today about the possibility on shirts.

Is it just that you can't get a ride?

Basically, I could probably camp by myself and I don't think my folks would mind too much.

ripsessionkites - 4-5-2010 at 04:54 AM

ill get on this right away.

so, you all have a few months to practice until we meet in fall - hopefully its not at the end of september / first week october.

ragden - 4-5-2010 at 08:51 AM

The one year we had shirts, Brian Lee hooked us up with those. He paid for them out of his pocket and had a box of them when I got there. They were nice too. I lost mine on a kitesurfing trip to the OBX one year. I think he just got them off cafepress.com and footed the bill. If someone wanted to look into that again this year, I'd be willing to assist with delivery/payment setups.

Don has set stuff up in the past, but has been really busy with stuff. I would be happy to assist you, Rip, in getting swag stuff distributed if you want. Or you can send to Maven. Dont matter to me. Either of us will probably have plenty of room in our vehicles for extra stuff.

Looking forward to the bash folks. :)

bobalooie57 - 4-5-2010 at 09:23 AM

Man oh man, I can hardly wait! I've been looking forward to this since last Oct.! Then recently I've been teetering on not attendin, mostly financial. Winter, esp. having my car go down, took its toll. But then, I figure I really need this trip for mental health reasons, and realise that I can't be near as in debt as my govenment(or Kamikuza, for that matter!) so I'm going for it! Probably roll in around dinner on Thursday. C U all there!

dtoast - 4-5-2010 at 09:46 AM

Wow...it's been a crazy time and I have not been on PKF in forever. Looks like I checked back in just in time for WW. I just have to sure up a few things this afternoon and I think I will be able to make it up Friday night. I'll read up on the forum tonight to search for logistics on finding a room, unless anyone does not mind sharing and splitting the cost of a room. One last thing to take care if is finding a new MBS truck...I split mine in half while riding last weekend and man did I wipe out hard.

@Power...if you can wait until Friday afternoon/night I can give you a ride.

kteguru - 4-5-2010 at 09:53 AM

Glad you can make it Bobalooie:thumbup::thumbup:

Todd - 4-5-2010 at 09:59 AM

Glad to hear you can make it as well Bob!

rocfighter - 4-5-2010 at 11:18 AM

It'll be great to see you again Bob. And every one else I have never seen as well:lol:

rocfighter - 4-5-2010 at 11:23 AM

I know it's the wrong thread, but it's only you guys that can help.
I am hoping to find a couple sets of quad lines w/handles if possible. If anyone has some they'd like to sell reasonable at WW it would be great. We will be there early Friday morning as it's planned now.
Thanks in advance, Dave

bugymangp - 4-5-2010 at 11:28 AM

i might have some handles. i could let go. i`ll go over my stuff this week and let you know.
line sets are other story. i don`t you would want any of mine. they are old, worn, dirty and i don`t think they have much life left to them. being over 1o yrs old.

cheezycheese - 4-5-2010 at 12:00 PM

Hey Dave, hit up Frangram. he had some line sets at the end of last years bash, maybe he still has some. i'm sure he will be there...

Maven454 - 4-5-2010 at 12:03 PM

Actually, I think I saw something saying that Frangram was going to JIBE this year.

Todd - 4-5-2010 at 12:04 PM

Come see me Dave, I'll have a set of HQ Quad-Handles, Ultra with line setup for you.

Donations or something cool you want to trade off.

Ha, Jesse put up a countdown on the board! Slick, now I get to stare at that all day.

If you can't get a replacement in time, you can borrow my board at while you're there.

dtoast - 4-5-2010 at 12:46 PM

Thanks Maven, really appreciate it. I submitted my MBS warranty claim this morning, hopefully they get back to me by tomorrow.

shehatesmyhobbies - 4-5-2010 at 01:08 PM

Todd getting together for dinner wed night sounds good! I will catch up when we get over there! Can't frickn wait!:singing:

rocfighter - 4-5-2010 at 01:21 PM

I'm thinking with this turnout I should maybe make a res. at the Apollo. Getting to be a lot of buggy wacks heading into town.
I wonder if they feel the same way about buggiers as they used to when a bunch of us Bikers used to come to town?

rocfighter - 4-5-2010 at 01:48 PM

Hey Thanks Todd, I'll look you up there on Friday.

Todd - 4-5-2010 at 01:59 PM

No problem, just pulled them out to checS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-em over... good to go and added to the pile of gear that I'm hauling

They have Kite killers too.

SHMH I'll call you when I get into town.

cheezycheese - 4-5-2010 at 02:19 PM

is it still too early for weather predictions...?

Maven454 - 4-5-2010 at 02:31 PM

I can give you a prediction... did you want accuracy? :wee:

cheezycheese - 4-5-2010 at 02:38 PM

everybody's a comedian.... sheesh:lol:

power - 4-5-2010 at 06:37 PM

So who is camping and who's staying at the hotel? The parents said that as long as some other people on this forum are camping somewhere at the same campgrounds then I'm good.

@Dtoast-Thanks so much for the offer, if I end up going I'll definitely need a ride. I'll shoot you a U2U when plans firm up.

Maven454 - 5-5-2010 at 03:12 AM

I'm going to be at the Apollo.

rocfighter - 5-5-2010 at 04:51 AM

Apollo here too.
Maybe you can find some one to share a room there.

bugymangp - 5-5-2010 at 08:15 AM

hey rocfighter
i found an old set of good blade handles that need to have new line run thur them. you can have. i`ll bring them with me.

cheezycheese - 5-5-2010 at 08:36 AM

@power- why dont you stay at the apollo, at least 80% of the forum users will there. i'm sure you can find someone to split the room with you, making it even cheaper than camping... good luck, would like to see you there

Maven454 - 5-5-2010 at 08:39 AM

I doubt they'll let him rent a room at the Apollo. I don't know of any hotels/motels that will rent a room to someone under 18.

bobalooie57 - 5-5-2010 at 08:50 AM

If he gets there, I'm sure someone will have at least floor space, as long as his 'rents are ok with that. Bring a cot and bag, and you're that much more comfy. I think the Apollo's guest fee is like 10.00 or something? Most of us are harmless.:puzzled:Too old to be much else.(me)Nothing like flying on the beach! Jim, haven't you always wanted a 17 yr old brother?

Grown men flying kites,,,,,yeah we're harmless alright:smilegrin:

kteguru - 5-5-2010 at 10:04 AM

If anyone needs a room let me know. I reserved a "d" room on the 3rd floor so there's an extra bed and sleeper sofa if anyone needs a place to stay.

Will Chris from HQ be bringing their new race kite by any chance??

bobalooie57 - 5-5-2010 at 10:16 AM

Maybe not (harmless) to ourselves, depends on how hard we're willing to push it!:Ange09:

kteguru - 5-5-2010 at 10:39 AM

I've got a feeling you'll be breaking your PB at wildwood this year Bob:roll:

bobalooie57 - 5-5-2010 at 10:50 AM

If I do, I' still be eating your dust!:o:embarrased:

bugymangp - 5-5-2010 at 11:37 AM

i got a friend who called me last night coming with a blokart saturday morning. he will need a place to stay for one night.
i told him not to worry somebody will rent him floor space.
it looks like we will own the apollo that weekend. LOL

Todd - 5-5-2010 at 11:56 AM

Hey Cheesey, we're in the room next to you nearest the street. Indeed looks like an Apollo packed weekend.

power - 5-5-2010 at 12:00 PM

If anyone has spare floor space and wants to lower their cost of living for a couple of days let me know.

Todd - 5-5-2010 at 12:07 PM

Just plan on coming... somebody will have floor space. Dean mentioned that he had some.

pigryder - 5-5-2010 at 12:36 PM

WOW this is only a few hours from my place and would love to come but I might have to work that weekend, is there a fee or somewhere to sign up? Sorry I guess I could read the whole thread....

Maven454 - 5-5-2010 at 12:43 PM

Just show up pigryder. No fee, no registration.

No fees or signing up for the Bash, just show up and have a blast.

WELDNGOD - 5-5-2010 at 01:00 PM

I hope they still have rooms this Friday. That is when I'm gonna make a reservation. Are the rates still what is posted on their site?

Maven454 - 5-5-2010 at 01:01 PM

The rates match what is in the pamphlet that they sent me, I assume they match what's on the site. $55 to $85 depending on room type.

dtoast - 5-5-2010 at 01:06 PM

@ kteguru...If you still have space Friday and Saturday night I don't mind spliting the cost of the room those nights. Floor is fine too, only really need a shower.

Is anyone camping at all?

kteguru - 5-5-2010 at 01:09 PM

u2u thing seems to be broken.
Power, if you need a room just let me know. I'll be there from Wed afternoon to Sunday night.

kteguru - 5-5-2010 at 01:10 PM

Sure thing dtoast. Room has 2 beds and 1 sleeper sofa:thumbup:

shehatesmyhobbies - 5-5-2010 at 01:11 PM

Power, I will be staying at seashore campgrounds. I am in lot L1 I am not sure if there are any tent sites near there, but that is where I will be. They do have tent sites in this campground though. Silvereagle stayed there last year right across from me!

kteguru - 5-5-2010 at 01:14 PM

@SHMH, I think the Mad Russian :crazy:will be staying at seashore campgrounds also

dtoast - 5-5-2010 at 01:15 PM

Thanks! I'll send you a U2U.

WELDNGOD - 5-5-2010 at 01:42 PM

Thanks Maven, and EIGHT DAYS TO GO!!!!!!:singing:

rocfighter - 5-5-2010 at 02:03 PM

Yes those are the rates. I just made a res. today.

power - 5-5-2010 at 06:13 PM

@Shehates & Kteguru-I think I'm leaning towards the room, thanks Kteguru. I like the idea of a shower but then again I like camping as well, I'll make up my mind in the next few days. Looks like I'm going, thanks guys!

I still need to finnish the rack for the buggy on the trailer.

Todd - 7-5-2010 at 10:55 AM

Latest Apollo info: They have plenty of rooms left, just got off the phone with them.

Don at powerkiteplace.com being the sponsor of the Wildwood Buggy bash has authorized a sale on HQ kites. Anyone wanting info on this please email him at don@powerkiteplace.com

Thoughts have been kicked around of door prizes. They are in the works but nothing has been finalized. Would everyone like to bring some used but not wanted gear to donate towards a door prize that others would have a chance on? BuggymanGP has stepped forward to donate some and so have others. Anyone else? Saturday night we had planned on a get-together/safety meeting and general bs session of the day’s events.

Any thoughts on what you would like to see happen at this event are more than welcome.

WELDNGOD - 7-5-2010 at 03:27 PM

got my room reserved for thur, fri ,sat. I was wondering where are we gonna keep the buggies at night?? carry em in the rooms?

cheezycheese - 7-5-2010 at 03:35 PM

@WG-either that, or chain 'em to your truck... :dunno: i was thinking the same thing but i remember a lot of buggies were left out side last year...

WELDNGOD - 7-5-2010 at 04:45 PM

yeah , I can take the wheels off and put em in the truck and lock the buggies to the rack.

Don't know if its possible but it would be cool to see some of the raw video and pics from the past few days of riding. Or even from past BuggyBashes. I know snbdr's wife took a couple hours of video last fall. Maybe a compilation of all the smashes and crashes that were edited out over the years?

kteguru - 7-5-2010 at 05:46 PM

@WG,,,,I'll just be locking mine in the back of my truck but last year at least 7-8 buggies were left out under the stairway area and there were no problems. I know Todd has a pic of his Libre in his bed,,,staying warm under the covers:smilegrin:

Todd - 7-5-2010 at 06:15 PM

:puzzled: Is that a bad thing?

:duh:

@WG I had mine in the room last year one night and then in the back of a pickup the next night locked up, no problems.
@kteguru I would love to have some of their footage no matter what the quality. I'll work on that for an over the summer project for next fall. Good idea!

cheezycheese - 7-5-2010 at 06:24 PM

haha, i was waiting for that pic to show up... forgot who posted it last year. whose truck had a ton of gear in it, a few buggies and atb's... ? that seemed to be fine all nite...?

Well, well, well, its been a long time since Ive been on here,,, winter was really busy with things. But I am stoaked for the bash, I did manage to hit the beach a few times with Brian and others. The beach in Wildwood Crest, where we will be has grown tremendously since last year. This is going to be good. Just so everyone knows,,,your really not allowed to bring vehicles onto the beach,,,but the riding area is not far from the street. We may be able to bring down one or two vehicles for transporting some gear and such. Ok,,,I just checked also IMPORTANT: Wildwood Crest parking meters are operating May 14th,,,,,so if you do park at a meter from 9am to midnight I think you must pay......The apollo motel has pleanty of offstreet parking so hopefully we will be able to park there. And I think the block that the apollo motel is on may not have alot of meters anyway. we can see when you get there. I have pleanty of videos from past bashes and such if someone will have a laptop computer we could use to show them..

rocfighter - 7-5-2010 at 08:36 PM

WOW door prizes and used gear. This is cool for us low budget guys. Oh and for those who said they will bring used handles and lines for my son and myself to buy, Thanks a lot.

Todd - 8-5-2010 at 03:56 AM

@ Chris, I already had your vote counted after talking with Don. Thanks for your support and looking forward to meeting you.

FIVE DAYS TO GO!

rocfighter - 8-5-2010 at 06:02 AM

The kid is so psyked. He has the PL bug in the living room and is using it as a chair!! I hope he figures it all out faster than the old man!!

bobalooie57 - 8-5-2010 at 06:12 AM

:D It's amazing how fast they learn, when they are really into it. I helped a few teens learn to fly over the winter, soon they were better than me! And with my gear! ha ha It's the best when you watch their face while they are 'getting it'. I prolly get that look when I'm out flying, too.:bouncy:

rocfighter - 8-5-2010 at 06:27 AM

Yeah he picked up a quad at a club fly last month and just flew it. Never flew one before. I was proud that every one said he was a natural. But annoyed that it was so hard for me to figure out!!
I think I was thinking to much and he just did it. Damned kids and there learning curve!!

WELDNGOD - 8-5-2010 at 07:00 AM

That is no curve , more like a launching ramp.
