same same today.......................wow!!

kitedog - 20-1-2010 at 04:42 PM

Lucky son of a gun! I think we're going to try Jekyll on Sunday. It looks like the wind will be cranking straight from the south and the temps are high! 75 degrees in January! We're going to cruise down Saturday afternoon and catch the low tide Sunday morning. How is Sullivan's with a strong southerly?

tridude - 20-1-2010 at 06:26 PM

lighter wind session Sat and it will be cranking Sunday...................south wind is warm and side on............. almost the same direction as last weekend..................even though the last 2 days have been 10 to 12 mph the 19m coupled with the Door is unbeatable....................the combo makes awesome speed even in lower winds and jumps are high and floaty...................hard to imagine 10 footers in 10/11 mph winds.....................:o:o:lol::lol::duh::duh:

PHREERIDER - 3-2-2010 at 08:14 AM

TRI, looks like FRI gonna be a ton from the SOUTH warmer with rain.

after hi tide should be champion.

I'm gonna session here FRI. then session SAT. @ chas. if it front has decent back end should be nice.

best rule on sessions in the rain...you get to dry your junk the next day FOR ANOTHER SESSION. hope to catch you SAT. will ring on the way for details if all works out.

tridude - 4-2-2010 at 03:57 PM

PHREERIDER - 4-2-2010 at 04:36 PM

Hey Don, tomorrow we'll be in CHAS. what about a west wind spot ? def before high tide, south end of folly at the park looks good. south end of sulli's ?

breach inlet from IOP if it's clean maybe?

PHREERIDER - 8-2-2010 at 06:42 AM

jumped on FOLLY @ the south end on a rising tide with the WEST wind. fun wave section, 1/2 dozen locals guys running as well. very tight (side/side off shore) spot at the park. 6-10ft erosion bluff dune and 20 ft beach.

tridude - 15-2-2010 at 12:18 PM

winds were 12 to 14 mph when I got there..................12m Speed 2 was rocking.......................... after about 30 mins or so the winds got up to 15ish and I finally had some company......................around 20 kts I put the 12m down for the 10m Pulse.....................winds were 20 to 23 and what an awesome kite the Pulse....................I did mixer tests on both kites this weekend and they flew phenominal...................have to say the 10m Pulse is the most enjoyable kite to fly that Ive ever owned...................good upwind, in the waves, easy relaunch, and boosts very well..........................:thumbup:

tridude - 16-2-2010 at 07:19 AM

Sundays forecast is calling for southerly flow, mid to upper teens, temps in the mid 60s..........anyone?

BeamerBob - 5-3-2010 at 08:56 AM

That sounds awesome. I was hoping the winds would cooperate. I've already started scheming how I pack everything. What kind of suit is in order right now. I have my shorty or a full drysuit. The drysuit is probably the one unless the air temp gets much out of the lower 70's but I'm curious if you guys are getting along with shortys yet.

tridude - 5-3-2010 at 09:10 AM

water temp is 51 air temp anywhere from 50 to 65ish..........Im still wearing my 4/3..........

tridude - 6-3-2010 at 10:32 AM

kitedog - 8-3-2010 at 12:37 PM

I'm gonna miss you then BB. I'd like to be able to get down on Friday but there's a new Owen Wilson movie filming in town and we're wrangling a 12 foot Albino Burmese Python that tries to strangle him at a strip club and I just can't miss that!

G

BeamerBob - 8-3-2010 at 01:46 PM

I'm sure he will. I can't wait to get down there and start learning what the water is all about!

BeamerBob - 25-3-2010 at 08:23 AM

I was in your shoes about a year ago and tridude got me up and on the water. He's as comfortable a guy as you'll ever be around too.

tridude - 28-3-2010 at 04:38 PM

his 14m Nemisis HP, 159 Spleene Door and 130 lbs were a great low wind combo....................I launched a rode the 19m SA2 while he took a break..........................his 14 and my 12m Speed 2 looked sweet side by side...............................he rode while a lot of the seasoned crowd were pumped but no joy....................he's got skillz and will no doubt be a sponsored rider one day................................

power - 28-3-2010 at 05:47 PM

WOW what an amazing day. First off I just want to give a huge thanks to tridude for helping me out today, I wouldn't have been able to do it without you! Great day out on the water, I don't know if i'll ever pick up the landboard again haha. Cruising over glass water on that 59 door was a dream come true. I guess i'll see how I like the waves tomorrow! Can't wait to boost some more air!

ragden - 29-3-2010 at 06:17 AM

grats dude...
Hope you can join us a little farther north in the future. :)

BeamerBob - 29-3-2010 at 07:03 AM

Congrats power. That place is a great place to learn for sure and tridude certainly has some patience. It's almost like he teaches for a living. Hehe. You have me watching the wind more closely for some good conditions locally.

acampbell - 29-3-2010 at 07:19 AM

Welcome to SoFKA, Power! Good for you.

power - 29-3-2010 at 02:44 PM

power - 31-3-2010 at 08:53 AM

Another sweet session yesterday, first time out in the waves, more work but more fun! Lots of body dragging cuz the plydoor falls off easy during jumps with the bad straps but it works well enough. Wind looks bad till Saturday but lets hope the forecast changes.

tridude - 1-4-2010 at 05:53 AM

this is why we went drags and self rescue form the get-go........................keep an eye on the winds each afternoon around 3...........thermals are starting to kick in about that time...............Ill be at Sullivans this afternoon around 430 5ish if the winds kickin in 19, 12, Door and 139 are in the hooptie...............:shocked2::shocked2:.......................

power - 1-4-2010 at 07:46 AM

I might be able to make it out today or tomorrow. Give me a call if you want. Had a sweet session at low tide yesterday on the landboard. Lots of jumping and sweet wind for the 14. Plenty of video but I've got to put it together.
@Tridude-It's a good thing I learned that body dragging when I did; I certainly would have lost my board without knowing that skill:Ange09:

action jackson - 2-4-2010 at 07:55 AM

The Red Bull summer tour is at Sullivans today and was there yesterday as well. Sullis and 3rd St Isle of Palms (IOP) were both praised for water and wind conditions by Rueben Lin10 and Aaron Hadlow. My son rode with them for about 3 hours and said some of the tricks they pulled were amazing. Anywho, great location so anytime your in town or coming this way shoot me a U2U...........this weekend is forecsted for side on/side shore winds, 15 to 20 mph with a mid afternoon low tide, air temps in the mid 90s, water temp is 86...............................:lol::duh::duh:

ragden - 24-6-2010 at 05:42 AM

Argh! If it wasnt a 9hr drive to get there I might be more inclined to make the trip... As it is, Hatteras is only 5-6hrs away depending on traffic... Will be heading there in July... Glad you guys had a good time. :)

Hardrock - 24-6-2010 at 07:52 AM

I feel I'm getting close to being able to get away from the beach crowd and get out on the water.
