I'm mostly a lurker here but I'll be heading to WW Saturday to check things out. So excited to actually meet other people who kite and actually see this buggying thing in person :D

rocfighter - 13-5-2010 at 09:11 PM

Ok trailer hooked up buggies kites and cloths loaded up. Waiting for Sandy to get home from work. Then were on the way down.

In the office and I am already counting the hours till I take off for WW can't wait! Got three kites and am looking forward to good winds and good times.

Hey oshi you're gonna love this event. I was a newcomer last year and totally got hooked. There's a lot of stuff going off at Buggy Bash and a lot of good people!

See you guys this evening!!!!:cool::singing::cool:

oshi - 14-5-2010 at 07:22 AM

I had to miss it in the fall because of other obligations so I'm glad it'll work out this time. I'm just afraid that I'll get too hooked and end up with a mountainboard or something to play with at home. See you there!

cheezycheese - 14-5-2010 at 07:39 AM

Oh you'll be hooked alright...

dtoast - 14-5-2010 at 12:23 PM

40 minutes and I'm gone...come on 95, no traffic please.

cheezycheese - 14-5-2010 at 01:15 PM

ARCUMSIZED.... everything they said it would be!!!

Jaymz - 14-5-2010 at 11:43 PM

Great time @ Wildwood the past two days. Wind on the low end, but plenty of sun and great folks to hang with. Looks to improve tomorrow, but I'm stuck home till Sunday. Ride on fellas!
I put a little vid together tonight in case you miss it.
I can never figure out how to embed videos here, so here is the link.....

http://vimeo.com/11758263

Put it up on YouTube too, but I got the dreaded Email after I posted it saying they're gonna pull the Hendrix music track from the video.
B@stards! They can't silence Jimi ?!?!?!

shehatesmyhobbies - 16-5-2010 at 04:20 PM

Well made it home safe as I hope you all do! What a great bash! It was nice to meet some of the faces that I have chatted with recently and nice to see the guys that I had already met before.

Now if I can get my truck to stop bleeding from the transmission soon I will be a happy. I found the weakest link in my truck now I have to make it better! Should be fixed by the end of the week

Thanks to all for the great time! See you in October or sooner!

cheezycheese - 16-5-2010 at 04:48 PM

home... had a great time even though i really didn't buggy much. I WILL be a better buggier by fall, no more PINK skirt here. Great to see all the old faces and met some more extremely cool people this year. Todd you are my main man for performing my arcumsicion,
i love that kite!!! All in all had a fantastic time and can't wait for fall....

Maven454 - 16-5-2010 at 05:09 PM

Been home for about 7 hours now. WW was a blast.

rdavis - 16-5-2010 at 05:27 PM

kteguru - 16-5-2010 at 05:28 PM

Many thanks to everyone that makes Wildwood possible:thumbup: It was great as always. I was impressed to see so many great riders. It felt at times like I was pulling out onto I-95:o , yet with all the traffic there were no serious altercations. Nothing but a great group of people to ride with:thumbup::thumbup:. Once some of the vids get posted Ripsession will see the power of the pink skirt:lol::smilegrin:

rocfighter - 16-5-2010 at 06:08 PM

Ok we made it home.
What a great weekend. I got to show a few people how to do a proper OBE. and get up smiling! It turne out the Rat Buggy was a bit to heavy for the sand. But the new PL worked great.
Thanks to every one who helped the kiddo strieghten out his lines and briddles. He had a blast as well.
And thanks to every one for making us all feel welcome. And to Todd for a great gathering Saturday night with the best door prizes.

Tibi - 16-5-2010 at 06:53 PM

Left WW around 4:30 pm, Sunday. In the morning I got to play with the Speed2 19m, just static flying... great workout. At about noon the wind started to shift direction every 5-10 minutes: on shore - off shore. It did that for more than an hour Very frustrating. At some moment there were two kites in the air, one flying on on-shore wind and the other off-shore... really weird. Around 3:00p.m. the wind got steadier off-shore and we started to buggy... for me it was a short session. At the time I left, there were 3 guys still buggying and 2-3 kites on the ground.
Great weekend. Nice to meet everybody. Hope we'll see each other again in the fall.

silvereaglekiter - 16-5-2010 at 07:00 PM

Todd - 17-5-2010 at 05:57 AM

What a great time.

First off I'd like to thank our sponsors Don Swords of Power Kite Place and Chris of HQ Kites. Also a big thanks to all that donated goods towards the door prize event on Saturday night. It was good to see so many people show for up for the event, it can only grow from here.

I have a bunch of video footage to weed through so I'll start on that soon. Anyone having vintage footage of events past please U2U me and if you could mail them to me... I'll pick up the postage. To all sharing video and pictures, THANK YOU!! Especially Rian :P To all helping me with my project THANK YOU!! Let's cross our fingers.

chris - 17-5-2010 at 06:06 AM

Still wearing a perm-a-grin after the epic Saturday weather. Feel like I buggied my face off. What a great time with so many cool people enjoying the wind. A few pictures from the event:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/chris-topher/sets/7215762407856...

A special shout out to Todd for organizing door prizes and helping to feed our faces. Thank you! And Don - thank you for the hospitality. You are the 'godfather' of this event!

Cheers,

Chris

oshi - 17-5-2010 at 06:56 AM

Wow, that was a great weekend. Thank you so much to everyone for the awesome hospitality. I can get painfully shy at times but it was great to meet so many new people, and I think I about quadrupled my kite knowledge in just two days. And a very special thank you to everyone who felt confident enough to let me try a buggy even though I subsequently got in everyone else's way and then rolled it over ;) Now just to practice everything I learned over the summer get ready for fall. Can't wait to try again in October...

flyguy0101 - 17-5-2010 at 07:01 AM

Had a great weekend and enjoyed hanging out with all of you. looking forward to doing it again in October.
Scott

Almost forgot- special thanks to Don and Todd for putting it all together and Chris / HQ kites for helping to sponsor

Thanks Donnie! I never got to take any pictures at the previous Buggy Bashes. Seeing as I didn't do much flying at this one, I think I made up for that.

WELDNGOD - 18-5-2010 at 06:28 AM

can't wait to see the vids. were you using a gopro? The pics are very vibrant, hope the video is also

dtoast - 18-5-2010 at 07:35 AM

After looking at the photos I now know why my back hurts so much.

Thanks for a great weekend. From helping me get my board together to Dean being so gracious to give me a place to sleep, it was a great experience. Cant wait for October and some more time in a buggy.

bobalooie57 - 18-5-2010 at 07:37 AM

What a weekend! I don't know how fast, or how many miles, but I don't really care. I know I went about as fast as I wanted to, and covered more miles in the 3 days I rode, than I've ever done before. The icing on the cake was the magical time on Sunday evening, when it was just Don, Joe, Lad, and I riding, and the wind went from blowing out to sea, to blowing onshore, and we had the beach pretty much to ourselves. Got the best ride of the weekend then. Big thank you to Don for being a great sponsor and friend, Chris from HQ, for bringing the demo's, and being a great guy, Todd for being a great organizer and cook, and everyone that attended for making the weekend one to remember. I am trying to get a link to my photo's, when I figure it out, I'll post them.

bobalooie57 - 18-5-2010 at 07:41 AM

Hopefully, here's that link. http://www.flickr.com/photos/bobalooie57/sets/72157624086780...

No, those pictures are from my Canon digital camera. I've got video clips from the same camera and some footage from a V.I.O. POV 1.5 helmet cam. It's not HD, but still pretty good quality.

WELDNGOD - 18-5-2010 at 08:14 AM

thats right I forgot you got the pov cam. I can't wait to see em dude. I'm jonesin so bad right now,I can't stand it. Might go down to the garage, sit in my bug and listen to it rain.

rocfighter - 18-5-2010 at 11:07 AM

I hope the videos are as good as the pics. To bad you didn't get my first OBE it was far superior to the second!!!

Come Friday evening we will be set up down at Hamonassett beach for the kite fest there. Sat. Sun. No charge to get into the park this year. But camping is more than ever.

WELDNGOD - 18-5-2010 at 11:34 AM

I was suprised to learn that blokarts are "herd sleepers " that will doze off while their pilots are doing other things.

WELDNGOD - 18-5-2010 at 11:36 AM

you know you got some wind when the blokarts get tired

I got a few people's OBE's and mishaps captured. I was thinking of trying to do some sort of blooper reel, but I don't think i'll have enough. I'll have to see what I can come up with.

rocfighter - 18-5-2010 at 12:31 PM

Maybe others can send you stuff and put them all together for a fun compulation. I'd love to see mine and others!

rdavis - 18-5-2010 at 12:32 PM

OK, here's my first attempt at a video, EVER! This is just the short video clips I took with my digital camera down in the hardpack on Saturday mixed together.

Just a heads up, I like progressive trance music, so I hope you all don't mind the tunes. Hope you guys enjoy it!

Thanks for a great event. I'll have to come for a couple more days in the fall. My son and I stayed overnight at Seashore campground , that is a really nice place. I too saw the wind moving in opposite directions Sunday that was a sight, 100yards apart kites up in opposite directions! Thanks again!

zracek - 18-5-2010 at 04:49 PM

It was a long drive to and from NJ but it was well worth it! My family and I had a great time, nice to see some familiar faces and meet some new people as well! Until October!

That was the whole reason I was trying to hitch a ride with somebody. I saw you had the tandem on the back and it was empty, so I flagged you down. After your OBE, Dean came to my rescue, though we had a bit of an issue too.

WELDNGOD - 18-5-2010 at 05:42 PM

did ya get me towing Jesse's broken blokart back to camp on the tandem?

No, don't think I got that. I know I got a shot of one blokart towing another.

dillon - 18-5-2010 at 05:57 PM

It was great to see you all again after such a long time.

Wish you all could have stayed longer...Sunday afternoon the wind picked up a little from the NW then like a switch it flipped to a perfect SE. I got in about three end-to-enders before the rising tide was too close to the fishing pier just north of camp. Aoxomoxoa for sure!

Good times, great group. See you in the fall. j

rdavis - 19-5-2010 at 05:52 AM

Thanks guys! I'm gonna try and get started on the helmet cam footage today. That will probably take a bit longer, since there is a lot more footage to go through.

No worries, things like that are bound to happen with that much traffic on the beach; and nobody got hurt, which is the most important thing.

bugymangp - 19-5-2010 at 01:38 PM

hey cheezie
you did the right thing by letting go of your handles.
this might be your first time getting hung up with other buggier but trust me it won`t be your last.
happened to me many times. nobody got hurt, no kites or lines damaged. all is good.
there was alot of traffic on the beach and when you can go around it all and not get tangle with anybody. you know your good.

I wish I could make it. I've got to help my mother with a yard sale on Sat. morning and i'm most likely heading down to Ocean City, MD to meet up with some friends for the Spring Cruise car show Sat. night.

ragden - 21-5-2010 at 06:38 AM

Wildwood is a long drive. Not sure I can do that two weekends in a row. Might head to Dewey for some kitesurfing though...

rdavis - 21-5-2010 at 09:46 AM

Well, i'm starting to have second thoughts about my plans for tomorrow. I won't be heading to Wildwood, but the forecast for the Dewey Beach area is 10-12mph ESE, which is almost dead onshore. Low tide is at around 10am.
