Went to the skates shop down the road to see what they had 
I'd be better off
duct-taping a couple of cushions to my legs ...
So now I'm looking at eBay ... I like the 661 DJ's but want something a bit longer beneath the knee like the DJ Pro's that don't seem to exist any
more 
Found these somehow, and they look good and more to the point - they're avaliable!
So, DJ's or EVS?

either ones look good, comfortable & light
i like as small as you can fit on, the stretch eventually plays out and too big at first truns sloppy
i actually use elbows on my knees .. they are just smaller overall.

I have got both shins scraped up in a big way.
Seems like my rod in my leg is magnetic and when I kick ( or get tossed ) out of my board it bounces back and hits my shin.
I started using little soccer shin guards but next knee pads I get will have shin protection as well. I think 661 make a nice set ?

Better to try in person, unless you want to pay the exchange burn. Dainese sizing charts suck.... too generalized.

I've got a pair of Fox knee/shin guards like the Dianese above but they have a strap that crosses behind the knee that keeps them in place better.
These things are pretty bomb proof. They are for sale at $25 + shipping. But like Phree, I prefer a lighter pad with less stuff to deal with. The
best type I've found are the new Black Diamond Telekneesis. Super nice, comfortable and protects the knee very well. The shins become less of a
problem as you progress (I'm knocking on a big piece of wood as I write this.)

attatchment.

Oh I should have added - I'm usually flying on a "soccer" field ... which is hard pack dirt and grit, like 100-grade sandpaper :blink: I think
anything without the plastic caps will just get shredded, which is why I didn't include the much more comfy looking Veggie or Evo pads ... from my old
skating days, I didn't often get grinds down the sides of my legs with the vert pads I used to use on the street ... I have considered shin gaurds but
though they were a bit OTT ...?
As for sizing ... I'm pretty sure I'm be the biggest size at least

ah well it would probably be better not to get soft pads then!
I think that shin gaurds are OTT and restrict movement further. if i was downhill MTBing then they'd be a must but you never see skate boarders with

I have some Fox "Launch" elbow pads that have saved me from some scrapes. They are flexible enough where they don't seem to get in the way. I also
have some Fox "Titan" knee/shin guards. They can strap on over pants so they can be taken off and on easy. I bought them before I went to NABX at a
local bike store. I have not really used the knee guards for buggying but the ebow guards have come in handy. Every time I put on the knee guards
the wind dies. I had them on Saturday at NABX so it was probably my fault there was no wind that day. Both sets of pads have a hard plastic shell.
The stuff at the skateboard shop I tried on was like wearing dish saucers on my joints. I have read good things about 661 pads but have not seen
them firsthand.

Gave in and got the DJ's from chainreactioncycles.co.uk ... cheapest shipping so far ...?!? from the UK? that's weird! And the pads were 44%
discounted :wee:
