Phantom #6 for SoFKA

BeamerBob - 6-7-2009 at 06:49 PM

I gave Pokitetrash his Phantom wings today. We met so I could give him some encouragement and talk him through things. He insisted I fly his new Phantom first to make sure it wasn't going to carry me away. I gave it a shakedown and then we hooked him in for his ride. We only flew static today for him to get used to the kite and winds were from 1 to maybe 10 at times. Great wind for a first run for pokite, except when it landed due to no wind from time to time. His camera ran the battery down before I got pictures of him but here is his new Phantom in action.

lad - 6-7-2009 at 07:01 PM

Dang, tell Pokitetrash to bring that thang up with him next time he stops in Rehoboth!

BeamerBob - 7-7-2009 at 05:56 AM

Ripsession, did you actually fly this kite? It wasn't in the plastic wrapper, but I couldn't tell that it had ever been flown.

PHREERIDER - 7-7-2009 at 06:22 AM

beautiful! now you guys are set,

buggy with a "big block"...the only way fly

BeamerBob - 7-7-2009 at 06:41 AM

Big Block is a great way to describe it. I've never done sliding turns in the buggy like my Phantom day at Anastasia. 40-50' diameter turns sliding the whole way and powered up when coming out using a downturn. I think I'll be completely arcified when I pick up a 19m for the lower wind days later this year or early next.

acampbell - 7-7-2009 at 06:53 AM

I think for JIBE 2010, we will have a separate staging area fixed with multiple ground anchors and call it "ARC PARC" or maybe "Phanny Pharm". Valet parking optional.

We could quite possibly be running at a higher ARC population density than NABX

lad - 7-7-2009 at 07:04 AM

Dang it, now I wanna Arc too!

But Maryland is on the Mason-Dixon Line, so I don't know if it'll count if I get one...:smug:

csa_deadon - 7-7-2009 at 08:52 AM

Hey lad, those southerners don't mind that you are a Yankee. Currently arc's don't recognize borders.

tridude - 7-7-2009 at 06:15 PM

dayummmm........another mufka SOFKA arc.....................:lol::lol::duh::duh:......congrats

tridude - 7-7-2009 at 06:17 PM

Angus,

after the last few sessions, you may be getting a few convert phone calls..........................:lol::duh::duh:

mgatc - 7-7-2009 at 06:43 PM

Just thought I would post up another SoFKA quiver. Be a helluva nice picture with all the SoFKA Phannys and other Arcs up at the same time! (hint, hint, meet up time....)

BeamerBob - 7-7-2009 at 07:01 PM

I'm planning on meeting up with Tridude for my next water lesson between the 23rd and the 26th, or maybe a few times. That's 6 (edit: make that 7) arcs between tridude, his son and myself. We'll have to get sandbags to use as anchors as we get them launched! I don't have my schedule yet but maybe we could have a mini get together around Sullivans Island or Folly. It would be cool to get a picture with 10 or more arcs in the sky at the same time. Even better to spend an afternoon with some SoFKA guys.

mgatc - 7-7-2009 at 09:00 PM

I'm off work from July 20? through August 18. Count me in.
I'll bring my four and we're up to 10. Phree and PoKite could get us close to 15. Kitedog would def get us over the top. Who did I miss?
An arcoholic's anonomous meeting for sure.

-mj- - 8-7-2009 at 02:00 AM

If you guys pull it off to get a bunch of different twinskins in one pic please send me one.
As a side project I'm organising to get every (from the first Arc till now) twinskin in one pic.

lad - 8-7-2009 at 07:24 AM

I would imagine on Saturday July 25th, but Phree and Tridude might pick a different day for tides or a wind spike.

Kitedog, your venom makes 22 arcs in SoFKA! When I see your face, I think flysurfer, but you've had a taste of the d'arc side now.

acampbell - 10-7-2009 at 04:59 AM

I'm in for the 25th. Low tide is late in the afternoon, though . 5:18 (Folly) to after 6:00, depending where on the coast.

Hmmm, Have to start thinking about ground tackle...

kitedog - 10-7-2009 at 05:32 AM

Oh man...I'm supposed to go to Baton Rouge that weekend! Let me know if that date changes...

G

Todd - 10-7-2009 at 05:34 AM

Can I get in on this SOFKA action :puzzled:

I need to get down there to air some out!

Viva La Zipper :singing:

BeamerBob - 10-7-2009 at 05:42 AM

This was an impromptu get together that started when my younger son's baseball team qualified for the 9 and under world series tournament being held in Charleston that weekend. I got in touch with tridude and we decided to get together. When I mentioned it here on the forum, there was a great deal of interest so it blossomed from there. So the date can't move as far as my attendance between the 23rd and the 26th. I might be able to slip away a second time in that window but not sure. I think I can just set Saturday aside regardless.

Sofka isn't about where you live, but about joining us at our get togethers from time to time. Just show up and you're in. Arcs not required but certainly appreciated.

mgatc - 10-7-2009 at 06:29 AM

Sofka pre-requisite, Zippers and grits!

action jackson - 10-7-2009 at 06:59 AM

Love them!

Todd - 10-7-2009 at 07:04 AM

:eekdrull: 680 miles to Jekyll from So. Md... might have to try for the 25th. Road trip!

BeamerBob - 10-7-2009 at 08:29 AM

Knock off 100 miles going to Charleston!

pokitetrash - 10-7-2009 at 10:06 AM

Hey, Sorry to be lame and not participate in the Arc talk, now that I have my own, but I'm stoked!!! Still a little wary of the potential of the Phantom to fly me to OZ.... BUT it'll be a sweet ride to get there! I wonder if my mother - in- law will be found under the house when l land.....Hmmmm.

action jackson - 10-7-2009 at 07:22 PM

Well, I confirmed today that I am moving to St. Petersburg Florida in two weeks! So i guess that i just doubled those arc # for that region!.................aj

BeamerBob - 10-7-2009 at 07:43 PM

I will be down at Fort Desoto for a week over new years. We'll have to meet in person.

Whoha! this will certainly affect the ARC density coefficient for the region and puts you within striking distance of general hijinx and mayhem in the Southeast and the SoFKA crew.

Are you bringing "Caddo's Dream"?

BeamerBob - 11-7-2009 at 08:05 AM

I like the way AJ dealt with the issue of overlap between between his Phantoms and Synergys. "What issue?":wow:

meh, get some BEEFY lines, hook it to a truck... auto-zenith... cake walk, lol

It'd be sweet if you could get them all in one pic at least... maybe not one stack, but one pic would be way cool
