Soo.... I've had my 16m scorp for awhile now and it seems that it isn't necessarily suiting my conditions. After 3 drives out to only find wind that is barely enough to get it off the ground and after i do, the wind dies and it ends up falling back to the ground. I am having thoughts about replacing my 16m scorpion with a 13m Arc and a large FB like a PL Twister II 7.7m... Im' wonering if that will cover more of a wind range than my current lone 16m scorpion. I'm curious for everyone's thoughts on this, post what you think. The wind in idaho is usually either above 16mph (not very often) or it's below 12mph (more often) Rarely do I get any 14mph constant or 15, etc... The only bummer about the twister is i couldn't do 360s!! could I?

Anyways, tell me what you think.

I've done 360's on all my foil kites ;) except the Rev ... I got to 270 then I collapsed, out of breath
12mph = 19kph = 6m/s ...! That's good enough for a 7.7 I reckon!

Good point... i'm just so used to the eeez of spinning the bar. I'll just have to learn to spin the other direction! ;D

Oh I thought you meant 360 as in a 360 around the pilot, just above the ground ... :puzzled:

yes, that's what I meant, kite landboarding 360 :)

Drewculous - 8-7-2009 at 07:17 AM

the right winds you could nail 360s (ATB)

Ive static jumped 720's with my 5.6 and im sure i could get a 360 if id man up and try it on the board...

im looking in the same direction as you actually, but there is no way id give up my phanny... i really want to find a 8.5 blade or a 10.8 reactor (large FB for those no wind days), and get like a small viper (for the high wind days i gotta stay home now)... But im also holding out for another large depower (it never ends)
to me really, its just about building up your stash. Unless you are really strapped for cash, id hang on to the scorp, and just keep building up

But the sizes you are looking at seem like a good mix

ive got a 10.5 blade and its too much work in really light winds--i like it better at 10-17 or 18--why dont u try a big npw9? ive got an 11m and its a light wind beast! lots of grunt for sure.......u cant really jump with it ,though.......

Holy crap! :o Is that the depower one thats been floating around? Man, id be freaked out to have it out in that high of wind, my twister gets real squirelly in those winds, and its half the size

BeamerBob - 8-7-2009 at 02:04 PM

My 6.5 Blade IV would pick me up at will with 18mph winds and up. That's on med. lifty setting. I was 235 at the time.

so do you think you'll get rid of the scorpion?

Drewculous - 8-7-2009 at 02:59 PM

I'm having thoughts about it... I'm going to try to make a knot further up the front lines to simulate the pigtail extension to see if that makes a difference but I'm really wanting a 13m or something at this point in time... Why, do you have an offer?

flyjump - 8-7-2009 at 03:42 PM

haha no, not this time. I went from 7 kites to two kites. I picked up a scorpion 13m which is super fun. It's incredibly fast, responsive, and lifty.

Nice!!! a 13m scorp would be perfect for me i think. If you end up finding another one let me know ;D
