... Dakine spreader bar pad with the hook knife pouch like this one - http://www.dakine.com/kite/harnessesbars/spreader-bars/sprea... - and I've asked the good guys with shops on here I know of, but no joy ... checked eBay and there's some but I REFUSE to pay $30 shipping for a $20 pad that could go in a $2 envelope

Have I missed any good guys? Any other suggestions or stores?

FYI Dakine Japan doesn't seem to do kite stuff :ticking: and I'd probably have to pay US$40 for it anyway, at least :(

U2U sent... on the HQ harness I've got a pocket in the back for a knife, on my dakine seat harness i've got a space on the side. I would think you could also make a bungee/shock cord strap for most harnesses.

(We need more smilies....)

In case you all are wondering ... in the U2u's I'm moaning about having to pay retarded shipping costs on what I consider to be a small product! take, for instance, a tiny bracket I wanted for my GoPro - the roll bar mount. $20 product, probably about the size of a box of playing cards but the GoPro site wanted $60 for shipping ...!!! :o Running into similar problems with the pad ...

(I always hate it when people have a big conversation via U2u and all you get in their thread is "U2u sent" )

Were you looking for the 6", 10" or 12"

The 6" one seems to be available for $25 locally, I am pretty sure I could find a 2 dollar envelope somewhere. :wink2: The others might be available from the same retailer as a special order.

Given what I have seen of international shipping, I would most likely opt for a Tyvek envelope.

Not sure what shipping to you would be, but you could check or I can.

Alternatively, this is one the few other places that seems to carry all 3 sizes and ships worldwide (don't know their rates). No prior experience with them either.

I placed a knife in my Helmet !
The one on my Dakine harness was in the back and a pain to pull in a panic. Also I found I don't always have my harness on but always wear a helmet.

I put a little pull ball on one and a bit of Velcro tape then tucked it between the padding and shell just behind my ear. It is real easy and quick to grab now !

12" Pad is also $25 plus tax.

Flat Rate Envelope Shipping looks like it is between $10.11-$12.95.

Transit time looks like 6-10+ days.

Or let me know if you warm to BR's idea.

Sam

Real kiteboarding

Kamikuza - 10-7-2009 at 06:31 AM

No thanks - they tried to charge me $180 to ship a $120 harness to Japan :ticking: I paid them $10 to ship it to a buddy in the US then via USPS $40 to here. They took their sweet time getting it out of the store too ... then when it got here, the stitching was coming undone on all the leg straps - obvious to anyone who took it off a shelf and put it in a box. I won't deal with them again on principle unless they the last store on the planet  oh yeah not to mention I ordered an all black spreader bar pad but once I'd paid and gone through all the horse-crap, I get a "Oh sorry do you mind if it's not black?" and get an older model camo one :ticking::ticking:

arkay - 10-7-2009 at 02:22 PM

there's nothing that says kitesurfing like cammo!
I'm here, just headed to the coast for the weekend. Not sure if the coast shops carry this model, doesn't look like it online. the PDX/HR shops do...
