Excellent kite control. Conrats!

You get something bigger up in that location and I can see a chain reaction rear-ender happening out on the highway. :o

Thanks, I been trying to spin that kite for some time. It was really fun to finally do it. Hooked in and flying by breaks with some good wind is where it started working.

I enjoy that kite and would like to see some skills others have learned with the larger fixed bridal kites. Not many seem to trick with them.

I have a 7m Ace that I'll try some things with one day if I can keep my ground. That would be pretty cool to watch.

We fly there all the time. It would be nice if others did see and come join us.

You would think that being on Clemson’s campus some of the students might have a go at kites.

Which field is that? Is it close to the lake?

Hardrock - 13-7-2009 at 06:33 PM

It's not on the lake, just the other side of Clemson.

Maybe that link will work. It's not a great place but when theres no others around, it will work.

I know where it is now. Nice link. Wind forcast is pretty bleak for the next 5 days.

Hardrock - 14-7-2009 at 01:39 PM

Yea thats always the forcast but it changes. I think we all should write the weather channel at least and ask for more priority on wind forcast.

They are always looking for something to talk about or giving advice they no nothing about.

I would like to see some segments on the wind and why its doing what ever they predict. Like why are the clouds moving one direction and the wind another. Will the wind be higher up or low?

Yep, we need to ask and let them know we would like to hear more of it.

Hardrock, how do you spin that beamer like a top? I can spin my 4m twister pretty fast by adding brake, but it spins around the edge of the kite not the center like yours does, and if I add brake, it usually deflates after about 2 spins.

cheezycheese - 15-9-2009 at 09:03 PM

yeah, i agree with power. my spins are around the end of the kite. you seem to have the axis dead center. is that all brake or are you steering as well ? very nice....!!!:thumbup:

cool field

Hey guys, been away for awhile but yes, hook in and fly with the brakes. Need a stiff breeze and center the power zone.

Not so much wind for the larger kites, they'll give you a snatch and you know the rest while hooked in.

Last time I tried this, too much wind and I covered 40yrds in a couple seconds but if you can hold in the zone its really fun. Guess I was thinking sence I was flying with the breaks, I could control it in about any wind, but it can somehow build even more power when adding a little break at times.

So just remember, your hooked and if the wind is such you cant hold the kite right in front of you, wait for lighter wind.

The wind was light that day of the vid but you'll see me run a couple times in gust and when it gets too light, walk back while your spinning the kite to keep it going.
