Knee pads

What knee pads do you use for KGB?
I’ve been using a pair of 661 DJ pros that I love but they’ve seen better days and it’s about time to replace them. Unfortunately, 661 doesn’t seem to make them anymore.
One of the things that I like so much about them is that you don’t have to take off your shoes to get them on. They have a two layer system that allows you to wrap the first layer on with Velcro instead of sliding them over your foot and up your leg before fastening the outer straps.
Does anyone know of any others that are like this?

What size DJ Pros did you wear? I am still seeing them at a variety of online vendors that still show them in stock (yes, I searched for the DJ Pros and not the vanilla DJs that have standard straps). If you like them enough, you might just want to buy another pair, and a few for the bomb shelter ;-)

For 2009, the 661 EVO Lite XC Knee Pad seems to have something similar for straps (but verify). No hard shell though. VERY pricey because it uses D30.

Hello Dave,

i just bought a pair which are like yours - they are originally for motocross usage.
Komine SK-491 Extreme Knee-Shin Guard http://www.kitejunkie.com/knieschonerknieschuetzer-p-187.htm...

Same as yours you can take em on/off without getting out of your shoes. I have not tryed them yet, but it was neccessary, because my normal kneepads were always scudding down when the kite dragged me...

In addition to all of the above, you can find the 661 DJ Pro on amazon.com:borg:

Tried to get some Pro's ... "Won't ship international" over and over :( I got the regular DJ's from ChainReactionCycles.com no problems ... but they too small IMO - the knee's fit my elbows perfectly :ticking:

Thanks guys, I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me to look other places than 661’s site. I must be getting lazy!

In general, looking on ebay or other online stores for moto-cross or bmx/mountainbike downhill stuff is a good idea.
