furbowski - 15-8-2009 at 11:50 AM

west of scotland is windy windy you are lucky lucky!!!

yes work can be a pisser esp. when the wind is blowing...

i don't atb, but i'm sure somebody will be along...

bit of info, weight / winds / ground to fly / skill level, is always good....

thahks for info. my is over 240 pounds 5 to 20mph+ in the summer , in winter gust that average 20 mph+.on good days , the bad days gust of50+ my skill level is just learning.

furbowski - 16-8-2009 at 09:44 AM

like i said, don't know much about atb, but big folks play with bigger forces and hit the ground harder, so budget in your crash protection!!!!

have fun out there, you sure have the winds for it!!!!!!!

Drewculous - 24-8-2009 at 02:57 PM

im about the same size... i ride a flexdeck i picked up here for cheap. I agree with carl... if your budget allows... get an mbs... very sick boards. Pretty much any good name brand board will support you... my concern was budget... so i went with what i could afford, post up in the 'wanted' section with a dollar amount and im sure someone will send you an offer!

alasdair macleod - 25-8-2009 at 11:32 AM

thanks i'm planning to buy new in the £200 mark but that will be next year. fisrt i'm going to get hang of my p.l. xr+ comp buggy this year! but that depends on the bloody wind on this wee island! the weatherman saying that for the next couple of days here it's going to be very wet and possible tail of hurricane hitting us.
p.s. what size of kite will do for a tail of a hurricane guys and girls???? :wee:

Drewculous - 25-8-2009 at 11:42 AM

um small.. lol!

Non-lifty 1.5m - 3m depending on how bad the winds are... be careful, hate to see another 'kevin incident' out there lol

alasdair macleod - 25-8-2009 at 11:55 AM

i'm not being serious! gust of 40mph+ just a silly question! p.s. what happen to kevin?

search for kevin the kitesurfer on youtube... he was flying an LEI kite in a hurricane, or the aftermath, or something kinda stupid... and got picked up and thrown into a building a hundred or so yards away... pretty brutal video, but i heard he at least lived.... dont know if he still kites tho

not good thing to go out in! i learned my lesson about going out in too strong winds awhile go. when i bought my fisrt kite the wind was above 30mph+ a couple of weeks! so i was getting very desperate to fly it! so i said to me self sot it i'm going out with it. i didn't think wind was too strong so i set it up on beach. start fly the kite, found out very fast the wind was bloody far to strong for me! i got pull off my feet , land on my side got wind knocked out of me then remenber to let go of the handles, let the killers do there job! i anchor the killers and walk very painfully to pack away my kite! lesson learned don't be so bloody stupid ever again!
