EXTRON kite ???

Bladerunner - 15-8-2009 at 03:56 PM

So ....... I picked up a kite today at a garage sale for only $8 :piggy: From what it looks like the person had it hooked up wrong and never did figure out how to fly it. It looks brand new. Came with a 2 line + a 4 line bar + very cheap looking lines. All look brand new.

Here is the catch. It is about a 3m and says www. extronsports.com on it but I don't see the website ? It is a poor quality kite clearly marked from China. it does look to be a good shape so should make the kid I give it to happy!

Can anyone tell me anything about these kites please ???

From these guys?

http://www.extrongsports.com/kiting.htm

Never heard of them or have seen one before, but an $8 kite is always a good investment even just for the ripstop!

Interesting my explorer page comes up reading extron when the website has the g included ? No g on the kite? Either way I don't see this 4 line there at all? It's not much of a kite but will make some poor soul happy when I give it away. I'll get it set up and test it 1st.

interesting.

looks like a kiteboat that also works as a kayak and a small sailboat

I noticed the kites on there website also don't have the "G" on them

weird....

so is this like a 3m trainer kite you got? or is it an inflatable C kite like the ones on there site?

i remember this company from years back ... they use to manufacture LEI for different brands and decided to produce their own line too. their sales pitch use to sell more of their personal water crafts than the LEI.

they have been featured or had advertising in kiteboard mags. Ill have to dig them out and scan you the page if I can find them.

speaking of water crafts for kiting, there is a local company here that makes a roof carrier similar to a THULE, that doubles a floating boat. will find website and post. hehehe.

that sit on board looks cool. I have been thinking about trying a knee board on the water, not too much different than that board I suppose. Rip that car top carrier idea sounds interesting too.

Trainer I suppose.

4 line fixed bridle foil kite. The 4 line bar has a trim strap of sorts . Not a slide like needed. More like that on a depower kite. The 2 line bar has only a couple of leaders on it. No safety. I wasn't going to buy it until he asked $10 for it and was still willing to go down. The 2 bars are decent and as new.

The thing flew about as expected.

It didn't like to sit at the edge. It sat back but wasn't too unstable. I think it is more like 2.5 than 3m ? It was worth $8.

hey bladerunner,

can you put a photo of the extron kite? im intrigued.

Bladerunner - 17-8-2009 at 02:58 PM

I was thinking about that!

I noticed someone with a Prism in their sig. that looked almost identical. Same red + orange with black and white stripes ? Dayglow yellow on top.

I expect that I am going to give it away to a deserving Newbie. I just couldn't say no after talking him down so low !

I wish I knew how to add multiple photos to a post ?

Funny how this seems like a 3m on the ground and then a 2.5 in the sky ???? It has a cross bridle so may have a small projected area ?

host them on an image hosting site or upload them to the PKF gallery then use the IMG code with the url to add to your post.

IE Without the "*"

gives you

To find the url of an img right click it, and click open in new tab (or whatever your browser's equivalent is) then the url is at the top in the address bar.
