What was the name of it???

I am not a kite enthusiast but living at the beach I see a lot of kite surfing. Last week I saw a fella' with a kite like you guys/gals use and he was seated in some sort of contraption with a fan behind him propelling him forward, left, right, etc. This motor was NOT keeping the kite up, the wind was. He was about 50 feet up off the ground, sustained. I haven't seen this before but I want one and don't know what it's called or where to find one. Can anyone help me?

sounds like what you are describing is powered paragliding.

If you are in Oregon/Washington there is a good school for paragliding that can get you started in that direction... www.discoverparagliding.com

Good luck

sounds like a powered paraglider. same thing you jump off the mountain with but with a motor. there are also powered paragliders with 3 wheeled buggys.
