Put together a compilation of jumps from yesterday's session.

Youtube muted my soundtrack and Metacafe butchered the aspect ratio and sound quality, but oh well.

Cool vid, i need a decent kite around that size. how much is that rage?

furbowski - 26-8-2009 at 07:04 AM

nice one... you were well powered up in that wind!

I like the jumps over the kid near the end...

keep on flying, suspect you will with all the action on the water there!

Jack1988 - 27-8-2009 at 10:48 AM

And they say the rage has little lift! :o

furbowski - 27-8-2009 at 10:50 AM

it's a classic example, give any kite enough wind and it will lift ya!

In contrast, today's session was a much more tiring affair. Winds in the mid 30 km/h range, and loads of lift!

Bitter-sweet, unfortunately, because while it was the easiest thing in the world to jump (I had a couple of decent, conservative 2-3m almost-floaty jumps), the constant pull was too much to endure for more than 20 minutes at a time. And putting the kite down in these winds is no fun when you're alone.

I'm not sure what to do. In Summer (normally December-Feb here), these are the conditions I am faced with. Big wind. Thing is, I'm going high, but my landings are still hard. I was picked up in a gust today and dropped on hard sand at least 15m away. How am I to achieve floaty landings? Do I go larger (Rage 4.7), liftier (Blade 4.0) or both (Blade 4.9)? Surely I am going to be overpowered by any of these options, if I am already on the limits of the Rage 3.5?
