Hey, ok now i was woundering about kite weight bags, I Made some of my own, but they seem far to heavy, it weighs 5½
Pounds, If anyone could tell me what they should weigh it would be brilliant
Many Thanks furbowski - 26-8-2009 at 06:52 AM
depends on your ground, winds, and kite. 5 pounds does seem a bit heavy for a 3.6. you can go less for sure but too little, less than 2 pounds, and
they might not work in bigger winds.
experiment, observe, learn.... everybody flies different ground and kites....
but we're all having fun!kitemaker4 - 26-8-2009 at 07:00 AM
Just make up some small sand bags. Mine are are about 4x4 inches.

Water bottles! they are soft enough to not hurt the kite, will roll off and not snag anything. Here in the hot GA sun we need a lot of water on the
beach anyway.Krohn1999 - 26-8-2009 at 07:41 AM
If you are on the beach just put a couple handfuls of sand on the trailing edge. When you go to start just pull on the lines and the sand dumps off.ragden - 26-8-2009 at 07:41 AM
I always bring a small "over-shoulder" water cooler with about 6 - 9 1pint water bottles in it. Works for just about every kite I fly. On the beach, I
just kick sand on my kite.D4rk - 26-8-2009 at 07:46 AM
Well, i would use sand but where i am, it's just pebbles at the beach!! no sand !ragden - 26-8-2009 at 09:06 AM
D'oh! Pebbles would be bad. Gotcha. Water bottles, sand bags. What you are aiming for is enough wait to hold the kite down without being too difficult
to get off when you want to launch. Sand bags, water bottles, random backpacks. Whatever you want to use. You could just put a couple handfuls of
pebbles into the bag the kite came in, and put that on the kite. Would probably work just fine. awindofchange - 26-8-2009 at 11:13 AM
Just bring some large 1 gallon size ziploc bags. Double them up if you have pointy rocks. Fill the bags up with whatever you have on the beach and
toss them onto your kite. When you launch, the plastic bags will slide right off. When your done flying, dump the bags out and stuff them into your
kite bag. That way you aren't hauling around 15 - 20 pounds of weight every time you take your kite somewhere. It also won't put any excess wear on
your kite while it is stored.
Also, nobody will ever steal a ziploc bag filled with beach dirt but if you have a nice weight or water bottle, they may take that.trancein1 - 26-8-2009 at 11:32 AM
I use the ones from the game Bag Toss, what ever you call it.sneasel - 26-8-2009 at 11:33 AM
Personaly, I Grabbed 2 rugby socks. put garbage bags in each, filled the garbage bag up with sand till it weighed it and what i needed it to be. and
it works perfectly.

Epic Win
absolutely, nice one....
if the pebbles are polished and round and you can pick up a handful it will work just like sand...
