Noob Sticky

soccerflyer - 27-8-2009 at 02:00 PM

It seems every week there are more people on here looking to get into the sport. This is GREAT!! But we end up answering the same questions over and over and over!!

Can we get a sticky or couple of sticky's to answer some of the first questions. Especially the wanting to jump and just get one kite and on a budget guys (like I was when I started). That way when they get on here and post a message we can just send them to that sticky instead of typing new messages to answer the same questions all the time.

We could have linked stories of people getting hurt and basic instruction of how to get into the sport and basic terminology and some suggested intro kites relative to certain weights and wind ranges.

How about it?

I am sure we have all this info spread out throughout our forum - check that, I KNOW we do. But if we could have all of it combined in one easy place. I dunno - just an idea.

There already is one in the kites and accessories section. See "Scoop's Guide for Newbie Powerkiters"

i think its a good idea, scoops sticky is hot but its basic.

Terminolgy would be great, with a description and stuff, ie zenith, lofting etc infact you could describe different kites for different things etc,

Defo a good idea

Ya, I forgot about Scoops sticky. But maybe just add some stuff to it - update it.

No need to mention Nuking though. I could answer that one all day long.

possibly. some of the stickies on other forums are kept unlocked, that way people who have something to add can just pop it into the relevant thread.

might be good in this case?

but also it's good to suss out the individuals, lots of the questions are the same but the people / conditions / ambitions are different every time...

....and sometimes need a little adjusting!
