Power Kite Forum

Not quite power kites but still stunning.

WIllardTheGrey - 29-8-2009 at 01:46 AM

The most coordinated stunt kite "team" I have ever seen.

kitemaker4 - 29-8-2009 at 05:53 AM

He is very good. I hope to one day run into him at a fest.

that was bloody great to watch!!! :eekdrull:

dgkid78 - 29-8-2009 at 06:36 AM

Yeah so relaxing to watch. In Newport RI I think the month of July is the kite flying festival and you do see this alot and very relaxing to watch. That and the 100ft scuba diver, blowfish, shark, soccer player etc. :cool2:

cheezycheese - 29-8-2009 at 07:27 AM

how is that possible with out tangling the lines... it's just amazing!! what a total non-kite flyer i am jeez

I had a chance to see him live in Alberta. It was pretty amazing! The precision was unreal.

Drewculous - 29-8-2009 at 07:42 AM

i've seen that guy before (not in person) but he has some talent! Really cool stuff to watch!

Bladerunner - 29-8-2009 at 07:49 AM

I ride in between Ray's show at Vanier when He is in town ! He lives here. That is MY kite park. :Ange09: Welllllllll Ray's name IS on the bench . :sniff:
Ray has FINALLY started to accept me. All He would say to me the 1st 2 years was " Your In THe WRONG PARK " :smug:

bigkid - 29-8-2009 at 08:06 AM

He was at Long Beach at the kite festival 2weeks ago. Those kites are not the small ones either. We were getting 100ft scuds with a 2m Brooza and he was doing his thing with 3 and you could tell it was giving him quite a pull. Still awesome to watch.

If you saw it in Newport or one of the NE festivals it was most likely Joe Perron flying custom Skyburner Profiles with 100 ft tails.

Wish Premiere (licensed from Skyburner) hadn't discontined the Profile... cool kite.

This year that had powerkite and buggy demos at Newport

Ray flies SEVEN kites . You don't see that a lot. He gets sponsored to go to events world wide.

The guy is just too Cool! Kiwi , so I think He likes my Peter Lynn ties. We have both been asked if we are Peter Lynn there.

Susan does this thing I call KiteCHi . Sort of stunt kite / interperative dance. The 3 of us on the same day is total freak show !:singing:

lad - 29-8-2009 at 08:55 AM

Flying a quad-line Rev in each hand is quite a sight, too!

have you ever heard what Sue is listening to when she is doing her kitechi? It is definitely not what you would think watching her. Real head banger stuff.
Ray used to ask me why I was flying a sleeping bag. He is not big on power kites.

:puzzled::no:

just kidding actually...

...I would expect no less from a leading member of the stuntkite aristocracy!

don't reckon you'd get all three of them on cam at the same time:singing:

Bladerunner - 30-8-2009 at 07:40 AM

NO,

The reason I get along with them all is that I have gladly taken bottom rung on the ladder.

I always stop when Ray is doing His schtick. He deserves the respect. He is getting old so takes longer breaks + goes home earlier than He used to. I think Ray started to respect me now I'm getting good safe jumps + flying PL kites.

Many of the others have moved on and I'm not on the bottom rung anymore. Susan and I share space. The others are understanding and give me my strip. It's all chill until the wind STOPS. 2 weeks today since I have had a decent Blow ! :flaming:

furbowski - 30-8-2009 at 07:45 AM

absolutely, he's totally a member of the aristocracy.

you're the boss tho, I've never met him let alone flown the same park.

hope you get wind soon, I haven't had the really good stuff for a month and only a couple no-power flies since then!

kitejumper - 30-8-2009 at 05:45 PM

that guy is amazing-i watched a bunch of his vids before i got hooked on the power kites

Jammer - 31-8-2009 at 01:44 PM

Those of you who know Ray can verify this.
I have rarely seen him fly with a shirt on, if he does have one it's torn sleveless and un buttoned, by the end of summer his skin has a texture and tone like no-one elses.
He's one of a kind!

Bladerunner - 31-8-2009 at 04:56 PM

I've never seen him with a shirt on.
I got out there yesterday enough wind to ride but not enough to jump. :Ange09:
It felt like sex without a climax. Didn't get the adrenaline pumping at all. :ticking:

Tonka - 31-8-2009 at 09:10 PM

Someone needs to get me that guys schedual....i would take a side trip to watch him. H*ll i'll take time off work to watch him fly if he's in Vancouver!!!

Another on the list of things to do while traveling!!!

Scudley - 31-8-2009 at 09:48 PM

Tonka, he is usually there on weekends, if he is in town. He does travel quite a bit.
Bladerunner, Dusty and I were regulars at Vanier for years before we got buggies. Ted, Sue, Jim, Dusty and I would play petanque while waiting for wind. Ray just does not like power kites. He would say you can't do trick with them. My reply was that they can do tricks with you.
You know that Ted was the first person to fly three kites and the first person to do a 360 in competition. Vancouver has some great kite flyers inovators like Ray, Ted and Egan. I guess Ted does not fly much since he got his Harley. He occasionally shows up at GP if his ride takes that way. Does Jim show up much anymore? Tell Sue we said hi.
