carltb - 24-9-2009 at 03:54 PM

it was a chilled session. i hadbt been out for about 2 weeks so i was just taking it easy. the only new trick i learnt was at 3.05 a 360 from sitting down!!

shehatesmyhobbies - 24-9-2009 at 03:59 PM

Another great video! You inspire me to throw caution to the wind and give this kite land boarding a real try. I will give it an honest "Hooj ballz" try at it this weekend! Keep up the great videos.

And thanks!

dgkid78 - 24-9-2009 at 05:25 PM

Awesome. perfect landing of the kite there at the end. :D

FloRider - 24-9-2009 at 06:07 PM

As always carltb posts an epic video. Great job! One day, mark my words, one day I will try that stuff.

yeah... next time i wanna see what happens at the pilot's end of the lines!

fixed POV is fantastic for the way it makes fade in / out transitions work...

lotsa work on the editing there, thanks....

Kamikuza - 25-9-2009 at 12:54 AM

Yeah ditto - nice landing, I want to know how :)
Awesome vid, as always ... got me all fired up!

furbowski - 25-9-2009 at 01:09 AM

yeah, launches are wonky at first but getting better for me, only three goes so far but in good wind not a problem.

but landing.... :flaming: It's good to see that it's possible to land them so nicely, very encouraging.

BeamerBob - 25-9-2009 at 05:08 AM

So if your leash is hooked to the chicken loop instead of the flag line, what happens if you find yourself in trouble and need to kill the power of the kite? I'm not busting on you just curious about the details of you doing something different than I've seen before.

Kamikuza - 25-9-2009 at 05:24 AM

it'll be the same as the zero4 bar innit bob? a floating ring around the top of the chicken loop? or did you spy something different there?

carltb - 25-9-2009 at 10:27 AM

im using an 07 bar and as you know the safety goes to the spinning attatchment on the chicken loop. all i do is "add" a suicide leash that attatches to the D ring on the chicken loop. when the chicken loop is attatched to your harness you just activate the safety as normal but when you are flying unhooked and you loose the bar, you dont have a safety but you also dont loose your kite. thats why its called a suicide leash. if you do get in trouble theres a release on that leash but its only for use in a " you or the kite" situation!!

BeamerBob - 25-9-2009 at 11:59 AM

Very good. I understand. I've never flown unhooked except static so I had not encountered the problem.

AD72 - 27-9-2009 at 05:34 AM

Where is the helmet cam footage? I think I see the profile of a helmet cam at the end of the video.

BeamerBob - 27-9-2009 at 05:42 AM

nevermind, getting my posts mixed up. Not enough sleep last night.

flyboy15 - 27-9-2009 at 09:35 AM

yeah i did put the helmetcam on for abit but as with all helmetcam footage 99.9% of it was unusable!!!

I agree with helmet cam footage in general, but I've been wanting try something for a long time.

What do you think about using a helmet cam as a "disposable" or "durable" camera. Alot of them have fish eyes, waterproof casings, and are cheaper. So I was thinking about using them on a boom from the rider, In the hands of one rider following another, or even on the lines a little ways up from the bar, or up on the kite (that would be more a bullet cam though I think)

Any ideas? especially for riding solo?

AD72 - 28-9-2009 at 03:21 AM

The GoPro HD footage on their website looks really good.
Todd posted a video on Vimeo using a contour HD that has nice resolution and color. The motion is not bad either.

Carltb, what camera do you use for static and helmet cam shots?

carltb - 28-9-2009 at 04:34 AM

the camcorder is a jvc everio hard dick. and the helmet cam is a atc2ooo. its not the quality of the the footage thats no good, its the head moving all over the place thats the problem.
