I took my first kiteboarding lesson on the water at Corpus Christi TX about a month or two ago. By the end of the lesson, I was only able to get up on the water for a few seconds at a time before crashing - and that was on my good side! I haven't been back on the water since, so I hope I haven't forgotten what I learned. Winds are picking up inland lately, so I'm going to try to hone my basics on land before heading out on the water again. It may hurt more when I fall, but I don't have to worry about sinking or inhaling salt water

Knee to waist deep water is the perfect place to learn... That way you dont have to worry about drowning while trying to get the kite back into the air.
