Fellow Buggiers and playa lovers:
During the recent winter/spring in the Mojave Desert many dry lakes filled with water. It would be helpful for those of us who live a distance away
to be able to access current conditions of our favorite lakes before we plan a trip. This forum would be an ideal place for that information.

The weather links are useful but what I had in mind was more like the condition of the playa. Is there standing water or is it dry or somewhere in
between?
RMV, since you live near Ivanpah, you could post a report on the playa conditions there. Someone near Reno could possibly post conditions at Black
Rock or Smith Creek (Two Cows) and so on.
This information is especially useful in the spring. By the time late summer or fall rolls around the playas are normally dry.

Check the NABX forum. Conditions are regularly posted there around the time of the event. It would also be great if someone were to give updates
throughout the year. It makes most sense to post conditions in NABX rather than form a new forum category just for Ivanpah conditions (if I've
understood correctly). Also check the NABX site... there is a weather page with radar and some forcast links.

After looking through some of the catagories in PKF I found numerous references and questions to kite-flying places in many catagories. From, "Where
can I fly in ___?", "Anybody buggy at ___?" and "I just buggied at ___ and it was great".
Perhaps my original post of 4-19-2005 about playa conditions could be expanded to include information about kite-flying locations in general. Like
the "For Sale" category, where items for sale are posted, all information pertaining to kite flying spots would be in one category.
Someone wanting information about flying in an area could post a question in "Ride Spots" (or whatever this new catagory is named) and get responses
from power kite fliers familiar with that area.
