Landboard Question

Hey all I have a quick question.

When I am riding my MBS Atom 95, somehow it seems to be working quite nicely, then whenever I go for a turn or small jump it seems impossible to keep my feet in the bindings.

Is it just the binding or what? Cause I plan to buy a used Flysurfer Pulse II or a Peter Lynn Arc for this winter boarding and would like to know if I need to invest in some better boarding stuff too.

You should be able to lock your feet into place by rotating them inward and bracing them against the posts of your bindings.

yeah , just jam your feet in there, and roatate to lock your feet in nicely. adjust your straps if you have too.

like these guys said...lock your feet to board by twisting feet against the binding posts.
*there is a tut at MBS' site where the guys jump up and down a few times with the bindings undone.
he says it's better to ride with a bindings little on loose side than a little on the tight side.
i knew this but didn't know what was too tight. too much on tight side left me with a broken ankle first time out.
*middle of a wipe out only managed to kick one foot out and board swung around on the other.
looking back i should have had bindings a lot looser (like the guys on vids that easily slip in out).

Another question for ya,

What kite would be best, depower of course, for winds ranging from 6-16mph normal, gusts higher.

Montana, Synergy, Pulse 2?

Hopefully used and sub $500

Any of those kites would be fine. Synergy and Pulse allow you to cross over to the water if desired. Montana will inflate the easiest. Pulse will take a tiny bit more technique to pre-inflate if the ground wind is poor and the Synergy will take the most technique to inflate and launch but has the best gust absorbing abilities.

You won't go wrong with either of those selections so get whatever you get the best deal on.

Ok I thought as much, its just that I live in ABQ and Its either low winds or nukin gusts.
Much less of the latter, but I dont have really any water around here either.

Once the Montana V comes out, I think the Montana IV will be calling my name!

Even the Roots Freestyle Pro Bindings have gone to a ratchet system in 2010 (over the double velcro system in 2009).

Is it just nicer padding and $20 that differentiate the Talons and RFPs now?

Is the padding that much nicer? I know that the foam on the Talons were pre-curved, but there isn't a whole lot of information on the RFPs out there.

I like mine because instead of foam and plastic, they are a synthetic leather. Has like a grippy type material on the inside against your shoes as well.

The montana Iv's have made a nice drop in price already. If you really want to gamble they may drop again after the V comes out. I don't know this for sure ... just a guess, but be careful you don't miss out all together.

Hey Platz!

Do what these guys said. Keep the bindings relatively loose and learn to wedge your feet in with the twist. You want to be able get in easily and pop out quickly when necessary without getting hung up. The new MBS bindings are really nice.

BTW You can get into a crispy Blade III 10.5 with Powerzone depower mod RTF with bag for only $325 plus shipping. Save the extra $$$ for other gear. This would be an awesome snowkite and is a primo landboarding kite.

I am afraid that a Syn may leave you wanting for more wind when it is down at the 6 you describe. That is my #1 problem with arcs. The pay off is that it should take you in to those higher gusty winds with max confidence .

There are always trade off when you need to satisfy extremes.

post bindings will hurt when you lean into them, especially if they are to tight. something that wraps the foot is definitely more comfortable and ergonomically correct.
