Blade III 3m?

Hi All

I'm thinking of getting a Blade III 3m as my first four line kite.

I've had a go with a friends 4 line so i've got a decent respect for the pull they generate now!

Just wondering if anyone has got any feedback on the Blade III 3m cause i've heard some mixed things.

Mainly because it's not up to a 4.9 - but i dont want a 4.9 i want something i can learn with (that is quite exciting)
So any feedback on how good the kite is??

Thanks,

Tom

Not to rain on your parade, especially since Flexifoil kites are top notch, but I would think something a little less aggressive would make a better first kite. The Rage series is much more tuned for learning. I would fear that the BladeIII would be inclined to loft you in strong winds. I could be wrong (I've never flown one), I would just be nervous about something like this for a first kite. Best of luck to ya.

Rages are nice, although they are out of my budget i'm afraid!
I could probably stretch to a 2.5 Bullet - which are supposed to be "less refined" than the Rage - however that translates to a kite?? More tendancy to luff??

I know a 4.9 Blade has enough lift to loft someone in high winds, but my 3m wouldn't be going anywhere near strong winds until i'm alot more competent !

I'm thinking it would be a bit more "exciting" that something like a bullet - especially considering that I am thinking of moving towards boarding as my skills grow..

That kite is not for noobs. You should look for a rage ,beamer, sting.Something along those lines
When you get your first Blade, Your gonna want something floaty like a 4.9m or bigger. The 3.0m blade can toss ya like a piece of styrofoam and then drop you like a rock. When you get more experience, you will know why that is not a good choice.
Now if you were a skinny 10 yr old ,that had been doin KGB for a few yrs., then that would be a good choice.

I guess I can kick in my 2 cents since I fly Blades. If your new to power kites the others are certainly right that a better starter kite would be a rage, bullet, etc.. That being said I think the reputation that Blades have gotten over the years is due to young guys going out in extreme conditions doing what we all know to be pretty foolish. If your flying within your limits and know when to put a kite away then flying Blades can be a fantastic ride. Problems happen when people disregard the power of the wind and the kite they're flying. A 3 meter BladeIII can be perfectly safe in clean 15 mph winds. In more wind the inexperienced flyer might get roughed up a bit. Again, a simple respect for the wind and the power the kite generates goes a long way to keeping everyone out of the hospital. Just my 2 cents

Ragden, we should have swapped when we were at wildwood. I would have gladly kept your outlaws busy while you flew the B IV's .
