Power Kite Forum

geez..some guys!!!

revpaul - 9-10-2009 at 12:51 AM

i hope i have your attention.
i'd like to take this opportunity to commend one heck of a guy.
but first, the long and short of it...
i recently tried KGB and ended up with a broken ankle.
so in a state of aggravation/mild depression i thought i might as well pull the the pin on kiting all together and unload everything.
but, one kink in the plan...i have a (like new) Core 6.7m and a (very new) 6.9 Reactor II that were sent by a dealer so that I could demo them both and choose the best kite to keep(buy). The RII showed up after fracture and never saw air. Core has a couple light duty hours on it.
I contacted the dealer and explained to him I was sending both kites back and i hoped my 'cruddy' luck didn't bite him in the butt.
*this is his reply:
"no its cool
#@%$#! happens, and i hope things turn around for the better for ya.
talk to you soon.
=) "
that's the reply in it's entirety.

That dealer is Ricardo Lui of Ripsession Kites Distributing Inc.
I believe his actions merit more than a brief comment on the good dealer thread.

Anyways. I'm going to buy the RII (unless someone wants it) and keep my gear for one more season. If there is anyone interested in a very new/clean (black and red RTF with strop) 6.7m Core let Rip know (soon)and I'll ship from here to save Rip some s&h. Otherwise it'll go back to Rip.
thanks,
Paul
oh yeah. i'm sticS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-n with buggy'n so I have no use for the mint MBS Pro 90 if anyones interested ($425 CAD).

bummer about the ankle, but glad your not throwing in the towel. Looking at a job change and hope to have more time to fly.

tdmc96 - 9-10-2009 at 07:56 AM

That totally sucks about your ankle.
I think thats the reason I stick to buggying.
I tried to skateboard when I was 14 and almost broke an ankle.
I thought I would try it again (a couple of years ago) with a kite and almost the same results.

Hope you heal soon.

This another of those great reasons I do not landboard. :)
I hope your ankle heals well. Those kinds of injuries are the worst to deal with. Best of luck to ya bud. :)

i've yet to hear anything bad about rip.... always had tons of good info when ive been looking...

This board does have a good group of dealers tho, always good to reinforce that! Not to hijack, or take away from rip's good deeds, but i've had very good service over at coastal wind sports too... from demos to tons of help, and all with nothing really asked in return (i do owe angus a beer or two tho for a strop hook-up :tumble: ) Just shows the caliber of the dealers here...

The PKF is a good place to find some awesome sellers, thats for sure

Kudos to Ricardo, and hope your ankle gets better rev!

The only thing about Rip is he flys a smaller kite and still passes you in the buggy:o

Hey Paul, good idea to just chill while the ankle heals, its hard to get perspective too soon after a break like that (ask me how I know).

Met Rip for the first time last week. Really cool, very skilled and yet very humble guy.

Heal fast!

(BTW, are you 'kitecowboy' from the Rev forum perchance?)

ripsessionkites - 9-10-2009 at 01:35 PM

in my 15+ years of kiting. i've come to know one thing friends come and go. however kite friends are FAMILIA.

screw the sales or what you fly.
"if you fly kites you're my friend" ~Bladerunner

it sucks that Revpaul got injured while kiting or anyone for that matter. I hope for a quick recovery since im planning on heading up your way this winter. I've heard from ParaireWind that your winter kiting ROCKS.

we should put some Heel Straps on your buggy so you can still steer with one leg. if Ozzy can it, anyone can.
:smilegrin::smilegrin:

talk to you soon my friend. :cool2:

PS. when the new vids come in, ill send some your way to keep you busy.

Bladerunner - 9-10-2009 at 03:27 PM

Sorry to hear about the ankle. Glad you are re-thinking giving up on the sport. I would never want that but ............ Dib's on BigFoot Betty :smug:

I very nearly did my knee in on the ATB last weekend. Two HUGE bruises on my back of my leg as well. Many have asked me if I actually prefer Coyotes over the ATB. From a safety stand point I'm sure I do!

Rip' and KiteMama have a good thing going on. If she didn't keep the books and whips he would just give kites away. ( come to think of it He has. Don't tell Mama ;) ) Spreading the STOKE is what Rip' is all about.

Hey Paul, glad to hear you are stickin with it. Hope your ankle heals quick so that you can get back out and enjoy some snowkiting this season. Good thing the Cooking Lake Festival is in March, hope to see you there again.

revpaul - 10-10-2009 at 09:39 AM

Well, thanks to everyone for the kind words and well wishes.
I just wanted to send out some deserved props to Rip.
Rip has stated that he is not in the biz of selling kites to simply make money, he just wants to get people kiting. My latest interaction with Rip just goes to clearly show he's 'not' all about money.
*I have also dealt with other dealers from this forum and can say they are admiral chaps as well whom do offer more than just the purchase of a kite.
