Ok, so i was just wondering, what would be the best kind of leash to use for a FS Outlaw?
I just got the kite, and was looking into having some safety features on there just in case...Kamikuza - 11-10-2009 at 10:23 PM
... you didn't get one with the bar & line set?Jolt - 11-10-2009 at 10:28 PM
No, i bought my kite used from powerzone :/...Kamikuza - 12-10-2009 at 12:06 AM
So there's no bar & lines at all?dylanj423 - 12-10-2009 at 05:36 AM
call up john and ask him to send you a leash, they're about $25... gotta use a leash esp. if you are just learning depowerMaven454 - 12-10-2009 at 05:38 AM
I didn't realize that the Outlaw he was selling didn't include a bar and lines.snobdr - 12-10-2009 at 05:38 AM
How are you planing to fly it if u dont have a bar and lines?Bladerunner - 12-10-2009 at 06:40 AM
I recieved my Speed 1.5 with FDS mod from Powerzone without a leash as well. Same thing with another Flysurfer from Tridude ? In both cases the seller
thought it odd I would expect one ?
I now make a point of asking about the leash PRE-sale.
Personally I think a leash is part of the bar and lines. If you buy a kite from me it will come complete with Safety + Manual. If they aren't included
it will be mentioned in the add. In BOTH cases I had to include a leash from a different kite on resale.Maven454 - 12-10-2009 at 07:15 AM

Oh, it included bar and lines, but not the leash, ok.snobdr - 12-10-2009 at 08:34 AM
I have never gotten a leash with a kite. The leash is more a part of the harness if anything. You only need one and it stays hooked to the harness.
Not really any sence in having one for every kite. I dont even think brand new kites come with a leash.indigo_wolf - 12-10-2009 at 08:53 AM

FWIW: The entire Ozone Depower line (Access XT, Frenzy FYX, and Manta M3) all come with leashes.

I have never seen a harness sold with a leash as part of the package ?
I'm not saying that a leash is 100% part of the bar system but the new kites / bar combo's I have gotten my hands on all came with one ? I have never
bought a new kite that worked with a leashless safety like the Speed was before the FDS upgrade.
Keeping a single leash with your harness is a good idea. Not many here do that ( accept Rip' ) so to share equipment it works out best to have a leash
with each kite.
As mentioned, I have learned to ask.Jolt - 12-10-2009 at 09:36 AM
I got a bar and lines, just no leash.
I dont mind buying one, im just wondering what kind of leash would be the best with the FLS feature. If all else fails i can just turn one of my kite
killers into a leash.Jolt - 12-10-2009 at 10:52 AM
Also, does anyone know where i can get the Backstall line?indigo_wolf - 12-10-2009 at 12:09 PM

If it makes any difference, the nicer leashes I have seen include a "Damn, that cliff edge is really a lot closer than I thought, scr3w the kite"
release... on either the backstrap or the leash itself.

The ozones come with a leash but advertise a leashless safety??
Any leash will work, the ozone above looks nice, i have the slingshot that i like, others have the same setup, best and north are almost duplicates.indigo_wolf - 12-10-2009 at 03:31 PM

The full term is Leash-Less “RE-RIDE” safety system and refers only to the primary safety and the ease with which your are able to
"reload" it.
The secondary safety would be the chicken loop.
The leash is your optional tertiary safety. If you are going to be mostly hooked in, it attaches to braided loop in the center of the the hand brake
line. If you are mostly going to be unhooked, the leash attaches to the steel ring inside the apex of the chicken loop.
In either case, it is purely optional based on whether you expect to be doing a lot of handle passes or kneel at the Altar of Murphy.

With it hoked to brake line, what happens on spin tricks? And on unhooked tricks if you drop the kite does it depower?Jolt - 12-10-2009 at 09:11 PM
Hmm... do you guys know about how or where i would be able to get a backstall line too?indigo_wolf - 13-10-2009 at 09:50 AM

Waaaahhhh..... I just looked at it closer.... twist city. The Peter Lynn appears to free spin at both ends of the leash. Not so, the Ozone. They
(Ozone) do some things really, really right and other things.... not.

Yes, I believe so.
Only one person on the forum has actually gotten their mitts on a 2010 Ozone Depower, and posted a short buggying video.
Wish they had demo days in my area.
