Can you believe this

snobdr - 15-10-2009 at 12:25 PM

Look what video made it onto the news. Puts us in a great light dosent it? No wounder this sport is so easily banned. Guys getting wrecked in huricanes, and now THIS?

http://www.comcast.net/video/extreme-video-snowkiting/129620...

I was all excited about it till i saw what video it was.

Jolt - 15-10-2009 at 12:31 PM

They need to put some better videos up, videos of people doing the sport the right way.

BeamerBob - 15-10-2009 at 12:33 PM

I just saw that. At least the viewer is left with some serene scenes of guys just carving in the snow with some controlled jumps. It wasn't necessarily the best light that could've shined on us but it wasn't hurricane kevin either.

i've seen that vid before.. sad that is what makes it to the news....

bigben91682 - 15-10-2009 at 01:07 PM

They need to show some of PBKiteboarding's videos! Those things are amazing, and really show what it's all about, and why people are so drawn to the sport.

Ive never liked the News stations much, especially FOX, somehow they are able to find the bad side of anything and show that to the people. But somehow they managed not to find any problems with Bush's presidency...

burritobandit - 15-10-2009 at 01:50 PM

That vid is so old and for some reason it's barely making the rounds on bigger blogs/media sites now.. I've had a few friends link to the same video via Gizmodo and Boingboing in the past two days.

And of course Fox shows something to shock/scare you and ask dumb/obvious interview questions during the segment 'why do you do this stuff? for the thrill??'

lynx69 - 15-10-2009 at 01:50 PM

that vid has been out for awhile and it appears FOX is disperate for some sensational news by exploiting snowboard kiting.

lynx69 - 15-10-2009 at 01:52 PM

kitejumper - 15-10-2009 at 05:39 PM

we used to have a consultant come to the tv station where i worked and he talked to the news people and it was all about selling controversy and playing on peoples emotions--i dont like it, but thats the media for ya.......

It only seems that way if you see all the other networks as "fair and balanced". About half the people are just as aghast to watch any other news outlet. It's all perspective.

Jolt - 15-10-2009 at 09:08 PM

The only news show i see that's fair and balanced is the Daily Show...

It criticizes everybody equally.

stetson05 - 15-10-2009 at 09:29 PM

That beginning part of the video is so old. They are really digging for something interesting

power - 16-10-2009 at 08:52 AM

That news reporter really ticked me off.

Agreed!

flyboy15 - 16-10-2009 at 05:06 PM

thank god they at least talked to a legit snowkiter. Male anchor can kiss it. I try to keep as open minded to everybody, new kiters (we all were), non kiters, everyone. Everyone deserves respect that shows respect.

But when someone calls me kiting is stupid and not real snowboarding, makes me want to strap em up right there and see how it works out for em....

My vent for the week.

And A-firm on the daily show

Jolt - 16-10-2009 at 11:25 PM

Yeah, I'm glad they actually talked to a real snow kitter, but at the same time, id appreciate it if they didn't start off by showing a video of someone who obviously lost control and luckily didn't get hurt doing it.
