Power Kite Forum

Anyone have any 5.0m kites for sale.

Boarderx - 18-10-2009 at 05:40 PM

I have a 3.3m Flexifoil Sting and am looking to get a bigger kite. I have a land board, and would like to get a kite that would allow me to get some lift.

Any ideas?

BigMikesKites - 18-10-2009 at 06:11 PM

alot of people like the Peter Lynn twister 5.6 for lift. I think most boarders end up getting DePower kites though. Some of them may have just the information you seek.

as a matter of fact..... i have a blade IV 4.9 meter kite that i would like to sell...:saint:

$325 shipped.... kite only

Kamikuza - 18-10-2009 at 06:14 PM

What's your budget?
If you want to go depower, that'll be a bigger pile of cash you'll need - harness, bar etc
If you stick to handles then you should be able to get a 5-ish for like $300 ...

My personal bias would be to go for a Peter Lynn :D

Boarderx - 18-10-2009 at 06:29 PM

dylanj423 do you have any pictures of the kite. What is the condition and does it have any rips?

Has this kite been used a lot.

dylanj423 - 18-10-2009 at 06:40 PM

here is a picture of it... it is in very good shape- it still crinkles a bit... never ripped or torn... has about 30-40 hours total on it... selling because i need a new buggy and i just got a 4.5m century

Boarderx - 18-10-2009 at 06:50 PM

Ok....i am still trying to figure out if i want a Flexifoil or a Peter Lynn. How did you like the kite?

dylanj423 - 18-10-2009 at 07:25 PM

i liked it a lot.... just a little too lifty to be comfortable in a buggy...

burritobandit - 18-10-2009 at 08:31 PM

Just chiming in to say I've got the same kite as Dylan but in the Petrol color and I *love* it in my buggy in the lowest lift setting. It's my goto foil kite for buggying, landboarding, and jumping.

Also, Dylan, that pic of your kite brings back memories of the beginning days of power kites for me :`)

How does someone buy something of of PKF?

dylanj423 - 19-10-2009 at 04:21 AM

the generally accepted way is to pay via paypal... then you have protection (it doubles if you use a credit card, though paypal doesnt like paying the fees, and will make it inconvenient), and it is convenient...

if you really dont want to use paypal, then most people here will take checks, but they probably wont send anything off until said check clears... i use paypal with all but one seller, and we have done business before a number of times, so i feel okay sending him a check

generally the exchange of sensitive information is done via u2u (our personal messenger system for the PKF)

Boarderx - 19-10-2009 at 04:29 AM

Ok i have a paypal
Just a couple of questions....

Does it come with a bag?
How are you shipping it/Shipping time?
Will you except 300 for the kite?

dylanj423 - 19-10-2009 at 05:24 AM

yes, comes with bag.... ill ship it via usps flat rate box, if possible.... the $325 basically is taking 300 for the kite, due to paypal fees, and shipping

*edit... shipping time should be 3-5 days
*another edit.... i have already dropped the price on this kite twice, it was $375, and it is over $500 new

Dylanj, if he sends you the money via paypal as a "gift", they don't take any fees out of it.

so long as i come out of it with 300, i am cool with the sale- i think that is perfectly reasonable... shipping will be about $15

i am pretty sure you cannot find a comparable price anywhere... if you can, you should take it

Boarderx - 19-10-2009 at 05:51 AM

OK....I am going to think about it. It is a lot of money for me.
I will let you know

Thanks!

dylanj423 - 19-10-2009 at 05:59 AM

This statement shows why PKF is such a great place to call home.

Boarderx - 19-10-2009 at 06:54 AM

Ok i will get the kite.... where does it ship from?
Do you want to talk through U2U

dylanj423 - 19-10-2009 at 10:29 AM

u2u sent.... yeah, lets handle the sensitive stuff through u2u

you will like it, it is a great kite

Who pays fees when money is transferred through paypal, the buyer, the seller, or both? I've bought and sold stuff through paypal, and I've never paid any fees, and I didn't send the money as a gift.

The one collecting the money pays the fees. Paypal takes 3% right off the top before they even give you money. I haven't sold much but I've always been charged. If I sell for $100, I get a receipt from PP for $100 with only $97 available to me.

They charge a higher fee for currency conversions but I think they than lower their fee if you are a business or have a premium type account.

Maven454 - 19-10-2009 at 02:30 PM

They changed their policies recently. It used to be that personal transactions weren't charged fees. The seller is charged the fees.

power - 19-10-2009 at 03:40 PM

Does transferring the money as a gift really drop the fees?

Maven454 - 19-10-2009 at 03:41 PM

As long as it's under a certain amount... Which I think is somewhere around $1000. Or maybe it was $2000?
