I need to replace the center line on one of my Arc bars. This bar is a north bar but it is all set up for an arc. When I measure the line, I get
about a quarter inch or 6mm. What size have you ordered when you have replaced your center line?tridude - 20-10-2009 at 08:14 AM
1/4 or 5/16 both are rated someting like 4K lbs plus.......hell you could pull your GMC out of a ditch with this
stuff..............................................:duh::duh:BeamerBob - 20-10-2009 at 08:52 AM
I just looked and 1/4" has a 7400 lb break strength. I think I'll go with 1/4".
Edit: West Marine is out right now. WM is handy because I can order but avoid shipping charges. It's not an emergency yet, so I'll keep trying.indigo_wolf - 20-10-2009 at 09:19 AM
If it becomes an emergency, let me know... slowly winnowing through errands and a pilgrimage to the local West Marine is rapidly moving up the list.
I have to pick up some Amsteel and Ronstan bits.

Sam if you are going to the Woburn location, call first on the Ronstans. Even if the website says they have them, they don't keep them out with the
rest of the pulleys. Bring the part number and have the staff find them out back. I've bought two sets of kite pulleys from them and they always
tell me they are on the shelf (when they aren't) and then they always find them out back
They did have amsteel in stock as of about three weeks ago when I was picking up some stopper balls.BeamerBob - 20-10-2009 at 09:39 AM
thanks Sam. That might be an option if I get in a bind. I've got a backup bar now and another coming in the mail with the Venom 13m so I have the
luxury of being able to wait for now. Everywhere wants to charge $6.50-$6.95 to ship a little 10' piece of rope and the rope itself is only around
$12.indigo_wolf - 20-10-2009 at 10:44 AM

Definitely calling first. Woburn is a bit further to go than I need to. Was going to hit the store in Braintree.
A lot of chains seem to locate the better stocked branchs in Braintree as if it were some type of hub.... hoping WM does the same.
Some sales people get a wistful look when talking about the Braintree branch of whatever store chain they work for. The refrain is always, "No... I'm
sorry, we don't carry that.... but our Braintree does."
It's like they use to work there, but got exiled to the backwaters for ticking off a customer.... putting in their time, just waiting for the day they
can return from exile.
It's very, very strange. Always waiting for the Rod Serling music over the store intercoms.
ATB,
Sam
P.S. Never, ever trust "it's on the shelf".... always have them check stock on the terminal and walk the floor with them if need be.indigo_wolf - 20-10-2009 at 10:53 AM

Don't want Angus to start beating on the voodoo dolls of forum members if we don't support his riders. <* cringe *> :sniff:

Yeah.... it's a bother... always good when you can piggyback an order. Think I remember reading that some local clubs actually consolidate orders to
save on shipping. Can definitely see the value of that for both sides.
