I Wonder how many man hours that kite actually took.

Maven454 - 20-10-2009 at 03:13 PM

The guy claims 250.

snobdr - 20-10-2009 at 03:17 PM

But he has the same shirt on the whole time?

Tonka - 20-10-2009 at 03:17 PM

That is awesome...almost a shame it's not done in real time as you don't get a sense of the time and skill involved.....never the less absolutely incredible!!!

WELDNGOD - 20-10-2009 at 03:21 PM

:o wow

flexiblade - 20-10-2009 at 07:41 PM

That was an amazing display of craftsmanship and just sheer patience. I can't believe I get bent out wack waiting 3 or 4 days for a kite to arrive - this guy cruising through what seems like an eternity of cutting, taping, and sewing, sewing, and more sewing. Beautiful end product - nothing but jealous here.

Here he is flying one of his depower masterpieces Kieron Jansch Kites.

And some pics.

I think it's important to point out that in rebuilding these old kites I'm not trying to represent the aerodynamic design as my own: they are still Frenzys through and through; all I've done is take off the old front & back panels and replace them with ones of my own. Also, sorry to disappoint everyone who has asked, but these kites are not for sale! I make them purely for my own pleasure, not commercially.

FloRider - 21-10-2009 at 11:56 AM

Jolt - 21-10-2009 at 02:05 PM

WELDNGOD - 21-10-2009 at 02:16 PM

It don't get any gooder than that. Kool that he is keeping the Calvin and Hobbes cartoon characters alive.

macboy - 29-10-2009 at 09:17 AM

Can't stop thinking about this.

All you kite makers out there - never mind the time the dude spent here, but what do you think the material cost alone would be for an endeavor like this?

markite - 29-10-2009 at 09:52 AM

yah, making a foil is a real love hate thing - you can't make one expecting you'll save save money - so many things can go wrong sewing. Most people make them either to experiment with shapes or to create their own graphics. You gotta enjoy sewing and creating and not in it to cut corners. He does very nice work.
