I've decided to just use what I have for now. Thanks for looking.

the only kite that i know of that even fits this description is the ozone access 4m.... it needs about 25mph winds to come alive....
bigkahuna - 25-10-2009 at 11:46 AM
Actually what I'm looking for is something like an HQ Apex 5m. I just missed out on one that sold for $300. Other options are PZ's modded HQ Hydra
300 or even a modded Pansh Blaze II. I'm also debating if I should forget about getting a depowerable kite altogether and just get a HQ Scout, but
before I buy a new kite or give up on a depowerable, I thought I'd see if anyone has something they'd like to sell.
dylanj423 - 25-10-2009 at 12:10 PM
what are you going to be using it for?
bigkahuna - 25-10-2009 at 12:14 PM
Land boarding on hard packed sand. I'm currently using a 9 year old 1 meter trainer kite. My wife will inherit this kite and I want to get myself
something bigger. The size is OK for me in anything over 15 mph. I tried a friend's Scout 3m and it seemed about perfect. I also flew a 3m Hydra
yesterday which also was fine. I just missed out on the Apex 5m which got me thinking that I'd get a 5m depowerable if I could find one.
I should add that I also have a 5m SLE that I could also use, but I would prefer getting an open cell foil so I don't have to worry about popping a
bladder or landing on sharp shells.

Dakitez has a 5m Apex II in the for sale section. Listed at $475 though so its a little out of your budget. I sold a 4m Access XC for $400 earlier
this spring so I think that you should be able to find something. In my opinion the 4m Access is worlds better than the 4m Scout that I had.
bigkahuna - 25-10-2009 at 03:07 PM
I'm not sure I can justify spending $475 on this kite. Unfortunately we don't get that many days that I can go out on the land board. Last winter I
got maybe a half dozen rides all together.
Maven454 - 25-10-2009 at 03:27 PM
A larger kite would let you board in lower winds. Assuming that the wind being too low is the reason that you can't board.
bigkahuna - 25-10-2009 at 03:39 PM
Nope, it's not usually wind speed, it's wind direction and tides. The beach here has been eroding over the years and the only hard pack sand is
exposed at low tide. Also, the only time we can really land board is when the wind is from the South (the beach runs due East - West). If the wind
is side on shore, I'll go kitesurfing. But if it's winter, cold, the tide is low and the wind is dead on shore, I'll kite land board. My wife is
really the one who wants land board more than I do. Right now she's borrowing all my gear, but since I'm getting her a board I thought I might as
well get myself a kite (since the little trainer, which is actually a 2m I was wrong about it being a 1m, is perfect for her). I might some day get
her a new kite, the old trainer doesn't really pull upwind at all, so you're constantly fighting it to get anywhere.

Ah, I see.

Bump, still looking...

For 300 bucks plus shipping you can have my Vampir Race Pro 2.6m. Don't know how it would work on a bar though.

Thanks Scudley but I've thought about it and decided I only want to fly with a bar.

Just a heads up.... a PKF User (dutch) had a 3M Apex as of the middle of last year. There seemed to be a little bit of buyer's remorse on his part
for what he was using it for.
You might want to U2U him and see if he still has it and would be willing to part with it.

Thanks Sam. I've decided that I'll just keep and use what I have for now. We don't get that many landboard-able days and it just doesn't make too
much sense to spend too much $$ on a kite just for landboarding.
indigo_wolf - 5-11-2009 at 03:54 PM
No problem.... needed to stretch the pinion feathers anyway.
New to me kite arrived today, so I expect there will be flaming locusts followed by rain this weekend.
EDIT:
HOLY MOLEY!!! :shocked2:
Sunny both days this weekend with the temps at 50 and 60 degrees.
Now I just need to figure out which one of this pagan rituals/sacrifices worked... hope the price on goat doesn't go up.
ATB,
Sam
