So, as many of you know, us poor Canadians get harassed by the border ALL the time. Well, under the guise of "going to NABX, want to send the kites
back after the festival so I don't have to haul them around" I called and was told that on the shipping form, just indicate that these are "Canadian
goods returning to Canada" and make sure the sender and receiver are you. This is right from Canada Border Services - she said people do it all the
time. Golfers will head down and send their clubs back etc...
AND, if by chance Canada Customs does give you grief and assess taxes owing, you can simply file an "I already owned those things" claim with them and
get your money back.
So there. Now I won't have to pay taxes when I send the SilverAngel "back" to myself ; )
Sadly, UPS and Fedex will STILL auto-assess a brokerage fee based on the declared value but they won't charge you any import fees otherwise. Point
being they do charge the brokerage fee so USPS is still the answer.
