Beaten up by the " Pass "

The Radical came in yesterday.

It was clearly marked Demo but insured for over $1,000 so Customs decided to charge like it was a purchase, $128.
My Room mate thought I was buying another kite so coughed up the cash. :ticking:

I should get most back after filling out the right forms and waiting.

I'm still trying to find the lesson on this ?

To add insult. I took the kite out in 35 knott extremely gusty wind and it spanked me within 3 minutes !

ripsessionkites - 27-10-2009 at 07:26 AM

glad you got out in the high winds like I did.

rule #1: never fly new kites in winds, you've never taken out in less wind - refer to my video at NABX 08 with the New (now ripppped Butan 2.5m).

fill out those forms, explain your case, and YES you should get your money back in 4 to 6 weeks. also phone CP, and explain your case so something is on file too.

Demo doesnt say much "we normally mark everything with" USED KITE, NO RESELL VALUE. or DEMO / PRODUCT SAMPLE.

bring the Radical out so i can spank it back.

35 knots??? youre a beast

Bladerunner - 27-10-2009 at 04:32 PM

Yes it was a bit nutty !

What did you manage to fly Rip' ?

There were 2 folks out on the water with what looked like 9m kites ? My problem wasn't so much being overpowered but the grass has turned to goose poop soup again. Almost no traction even as I got dragged downwind on my butt and back.

I got soaked but the kite stayed clean !

ripsessionkites - 27-10-2009 at 04:53 PM

you know me ... go big or go home.

I went with the Scorpion 16m - Inner Straps @ "tight" but the Bar Trim @ "BR's Setting"

I didn't mind the wet grass after awhile when i was completely soaked, its sort of nice to slide when you "$&*((&&-up" landings by not facing the board a bit more downwind. My elbow thanks the softer ground too, ive decide to only try kiteloops when you have 1000+ feet of extra park infront of you. Being thrown downwind in mid-air, feels like us kitebuggying at tiny Garry Point. You run out of park fast.

Bladerunner - 27-10-2009 at 05:02 PM

You are NUTS . !!!! :cool2:

I never even took the 15 Syn to the park. :sniff:

How can I ever keep up with you ? :ticking:

I think it is the goose grease + a bad choice of footing that made me decide I should pack it in.

ripsessionkites - 27-10-2009 at 08:06 PM

maybe I am, however I have incentives to go all the way because who knows what the next day will bring. I probably shouldnt have used what I did however ....

1. Didn't have smaller arc
2. 2 weekends of no wind, jonesing :sniff:
3. kids, and his r/c cars - time consuming :saint:
4. work / work and more work (6 days @ 11hrs per day) - thank you Redbull / Starbucks / Tim Horton's
5. i wear pants not a skirt (Dino) :D

Big Earl - 27-10-2009 at 08:34 PM

Sorry to hear about the customs charges! would it help to keep the kite an extra week or so?

Bladerunner - 28-10-2009 at 04:50 PM

Thanks BigE'

I think I can pass it on the Monday after next.
It is rainy season and too hard to keep a new kite clean. It will be best to pass it on.

It isn't your fault that our Customs folks think they have it all figured out. Sort of guilty until proven inoccent with them. I expect to get most of it back in time.

I find it odd that it was insured at $675 but taxed as $1000 ? What is the retail on the 6m Radical please ?

RIP' you may get by with only 1 arc but I'm afraid me and my KILT ( it's nOt a skirrrrrt I tell ye' ) need a 10 and 15. Bring on the Chargers ! :spin:

Big Earl - 29-10-2009 at 07:41 AM

The retail on the Radical RTF is $1099 USD. Remind me next year when you have good wind and I will get it to you for another round if you like.
Thanks, Earl

Will you get to NABX ? That will be a good place to try it , accept for the Playa dust.
