Thanks it's a pleasure to be here. I'm in the DC area and have plenty of experience with foils. Power, a very good friend of mine, lives right around
the corner fortunately. He will help me out with my first few times on depower.
Can you direct me to the kite you're referring to? I can't find it.
Dom is his forum name......................good lucktridude - 8-11-2009 at 11:47 AM

How much do you weigh? Winds are usually sub prime for a 12m unless your a lighter guy or have a big board.Knolee - 8-11-2009 at 03:51 PM
I'm about 165. Still growing though...
Is a 10m best for me? At the beach, when there is wind, it is usually between 8 and 14 mph. I don't want to have a problem with flotation.tridude - 8-11-2009 at 03:55 PM
a 12m would be better.............................Knolee - 8-11-2009 at 04:03 PM
How come? Simply because more kite=more float and speed?Houston AirHead - 8-11-2009 at 07:58 PM
dude 8 and 14 mph? your gonna need to go to a 15 meter. unless its a steady 15 even better 16, your not going to have any fun unless your riding a
yaht on a 10 or 12. im 170 and i need atleast 15-20mph to stay up wind on a 140x40 board on my 12m LEI.
i cant wait until i can afford ltd flysurfer speed19m.
talk about a sweet kitesnobdr - 8-11-2009 at 08:04 PM
Airhead is right. Really anything under 12Mph and your not going to be riding unless your on a surfboard or are on a flysurfer speed. Where in dc you
planning on riding? Who is helping you?Knolee - 8-11-2009 at 08:05 PM
Sorry, I've never kiteboarded before. I wouldn't know...
When I say 8-14 I mean that it could be any speed between there but consistent. Not varying from 8-14, that's just the average day-to-day winds, if
any.
I want to use this kite on land for atb also. So I don't want to be over-powered. I understand that it takes a huge amount of kite to just float on
the water, and therefore landboarding requires much less kite. I'm looking for that balance between the two.
I'll take it from the experts though...snobdr - 8-11-2009 at 08:20 PM
Ok well your biting off a little bit too much at this point. Your friend power has about an hour on a depower so i wouldnt say hes the best person to
be teaching you. You also have to decide what you want to do land or water. In your area there isnt much of either unless you can drive. I was down
the west potomac park with power on sat and the police were giving us grief. You get a few kiters there and it will be shut down.
Sorry if im being a downer i just tell it like it is. Send me a u2u and well see if we can help ya out.power - 8-11-2009 at 08:45 PM
