High Tides and Flooding at SLP Galveston this Friday

This from the National Weather Service. If you are planning going to SLP this Friday for the DBBB pre event, please keep a close watch on the tides. I would strongly suggest that you do not camp on the beach on Friday if a coastal flood watch or warning is issued.

Local Severe Weather Alert for Galveston, TX

A DEVELOPING AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER SOUTH TEXAS WILL PUSH EAST ON FRIDAY. THE PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL TIGHTEN SIGNIFICANTLY RESULTING IN STRONG EAST WINDS ON FRIDAY. THE DURATION OF EAST WINDS WILL ONLY BE ABOUT 12 HOURS...BUT THIS COULD STILL PRODUCE A RISE IN TIDE ELEVATIONS BETWEEN 1 AND 2 FEET. THE SURFACE LOW WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE EAST FRIDAY NIGHT WITH WINDS BACKING TO THE NORTHEAST. AS THIS OCCURS...WATER FROM GALVESTON BAY WILL ACCUMULATE ON THE WEST SIDE OF GALVESTON ISLAND AND COULD PRODUCE MINOR FLOODING ON THE WEST END OF GALVESTON ISLAND. HIGH TIDE WILL GENERALLY OCCUR FRIDAY EVENING AND WINDS WILL HAVE ALREADY BACKED TO THE NORTHEAST SO THE FLOOD THREAT IS EXPECTED TO BE LESS SEVERE THAN THE COASTAL FLOOD EVENT WHICH OCCURRED NOVEMBER 7-8. THAT SAID...TIDE LEVELS WILL STILL APPROACH OR POSSIBLY EXCEED 3.5 FEET ON FRIDAY. TIDE LEVELS OF THIS MAGNITUDE COULD PUT WATER ON PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 87 ON THE BOLIVAR PENINSULA. THERE IS STILL A
GREAT DEAL OF UNCERTAINTY ON THE TRACK AND INTENSITY OF THE COASTAL LOW. IF THE WINDS INCREASE MORE THAN FORECAST OR THE LOW PRESSURE MOVES AT A SLOWER PACE...A COASTAL FLOOD WATCH OR WARNING MAY BE REQUIRED FOR FRIDAY.

It also looks like thunder storms on Friday also.

Not a good beach day.
