carltb - 19-11-2009 at 08:44 AM

you dont have to have an opinion on every category but all opinions are welcome

carltb - 19-11-2009 at 08:46 AM

IMO the best landboarding kite is the peter lynn synergy 15m flown in 20-25mph winds

ripsessionkites - 19-11-2009 at 09:24 AM

the best race buggy kite is .... (if I had to narrow it down to one) The Peter Lynn Vapor, with prototypes at Nabx proved they were fast, and at Euro Cups, they proved they can run a course race too.
Having said that, a kite is only as good as its driver.

If i could add, put down the Yak GT, Spirit, Xenon ... they were fast too.

the best kite surfing kite is .... F-One Bandit / Waiman Rabbit, i think delta shape is going to be the future and safety of LEIs.

Carl, thanks for starting this. I bet we can now have a thread like this for a long time without anyone getting mad. This is not hard to convey opinions without stepping on toes.

IN MY OPINION I THINK
the best static flying and jumping kite is The Flexi Blade IV but I haven't flown a V yet. It is a work of engineering excellence and a thrill to fly when you are ready for it. The 6.5m is starting to have lift at about 10 mph and hits its stride at about 14-17. By 19 mph its a bit too much for me.

The best kite buggy fixed bridle kite has to be between the Peter Lynn Reactor II and the Flexi Blurr. I would love to have lots of time and consistent winds with a test partner to really get to the nitty gritty of when each kite excels above the other. As a side note, I really love buggying with my PL Phantom. It has a nice balance of power and forgiveness that really lets me enjoy the ride. I am anxious to put in some time with my venom 13 and 15m synergy in the buggy too.

For static flying alone when you don't want to jump I can't leave out the Beamer IV. A few weeks ago, I was having some car repairs done and walked to my local field to fly for an hour or so. I flew my 2m Beamer in lightish winds. I still get a kick out of tracing circles in the sky with a smooth operating kite like the Beamer IV (and III for that matter). I haven't explored the limits of the Beamer yet, but my 2m will fly in 5 mph winds and I'm sure it would work in the buggy up over 30 mph if some HOOJ ones are present.

IMO ,

LIFE span of rigs ...

maintenance ...

most versatile ...

one kite quiver possibilities ...

might consider these areas as well

but IMO, PL will provide a life time of highly versatile land based or water based performance with the least amount of hassle.

after becoming a more well rounded rider/ flier with all types of kites, land based and water based, the only kite i can use with guaranteed success no matter what I choose to ride, where i'm riding, or conditions is my Peter Lynn venom I 13m. this is all through personal discovery not influenced by instructors /industry or mainstream commerce.

I have flown them all, EVERYDAY, and Peter Lynn delivers a champion all-around survivor.

DenisLaMenace - 19-11-2009 at 10:56 AM

IMO the kite which has the best low end for light winds on the water is the Flysurfer Speed2 SA 19m.

If you don't agree I think you should keep it for yourself :lol::lol::lol:

rocfighter - 19-11-2009 at 12:46 PM

IMO the best buggie is the one I just finninshed building. Plus it's the only one I can afford!:D It's a sweet RAT that if I find my camera I will send in some pics. And if the wind ever blows here again I'll get shots of it in action!

tridude - 19-11-2009 at 12:48 PM

I agree with Buzz.........................IMO, the only thing close around here for light wind performance is the guy from Toronto with a 19m SA2 and my sons 17m SA 1.5...................................

dgkid78 - 19-11-2009 at 01:36 PM

This is an awesome thread but I can't add any info as I am limited with my quiver and experience with other brands. Other than a couple pass arounds.
But this thread will yeild a lot of great info for us all to take in when looking for that next purchase:bigok:

Bladerunner - 19-11-2009 at 05:21 PM

Freestyle buggy - Flexi Blades

Race buggy. Jo Jo with the Vapors about to step up.

Snow kite - is tough. Low wind is the Silver Arrow. Pump and open cell Ozone. Arcs get honourable mention.

Land board and Coyotes - Synergy 15m in 15 to 22kts. ( my favorite all round )

Water - no valuable opinion.

Static - Revolution

Coyotes RULE IMHO :P

flyjump - 19-11-2009 at 05:23 PM

I've had a lot of PL arcs: Guerilla 13, PL Venom 13, v2 16, phantom 12, 16, scorpion 13, 16.

I traded off the rest of them and currently own the 13 and 16 scorps. Out of all of the kites that ive had the one that I miss the most and wish i still owned was the PHANTOM 12M. That kite in 20-30mph was a blast! It was so fast, responsive and most important lifty. It would take you so fast, yet for some reason it had incredible depower. I want another one!

ripsessionkites - 20-11-2009 at 12:55 AM

best kiteboard?

best mountainboard?

best kitebuggy?

... IMO, the xxtreme apexx bf version with Beach Racer Rear / Eurotrax Front, weight bar and about 30kg of extra weight.

tridude - 20-11-2009 at 03:41 AM

IMO..........best all around fixed bridal kite for the bug, board, static flying, and jumping is the 6.5m Flexifoil Blade IV........huge range and applications with the adjustable AOA...........................:lol::duh::duh:

WolfWolfee - 20-11-2009 at 08:58 AM

IMHO
Buggy free style- Flexi with new Pl carbon axle( dam have to send axle back)
Buggy kites- Reactor, Scorpion, flown fixed bridles all my life but love my Arc
ski's, snow board- Guerilla, forgiving sweet gentle giant and low wind monster

brplatz - 20-11-2009 at 10:04 AM

IMO

The PL Synergy 15m is the best landboarding kite, since its the only one i have :wee:

Brian

carltb - 24-11-2009 at 05:16 AM

Jolt - 24-11-2009 at 10:29 AM

As far as freestyle buggying goes, those people in australia have done some pretty crazy stuff with the 10m Outlaw, in low winds.

Snow kiting - Ozone Axcess

Jack1988 - 25-11-2009 at 07:07 AM

The Ozone Access is a depower. Not a fixed bridle.
