Hi all
I'm thinking about buying a 7m Frenzy for use in 30mph+ winds on a landboard. In those sort of conditions where i landboard the winds are generally
gusty. However i've read on here that an access would make a good high wind kite and also the syn/charger have great gust munching capabilities, would
an 8m or 10m arc do a good job. What concerns me about an arc is the inflating part, where i landboard, above 25mph the wind lifts the sand and blows
it down the beach, will this sand go in the kite. What concerns me about the Frenzy is whether i'm gonna get spanked by it in those winds. I have
flown a 7m sabre and i'm experienced with fixed bridle kites.

I'm not sure about your delema, but if you could bottle up some of that wind and send it across the pond we would appritiate it :wee:lad - 26-11-2009 at 06:54 AM
You breezy UKer's!
I couldn't help but notice that the Access kite's I've owned seemed jerkier than Arcs in gusty winds. Arcs ARE much simpler to set up, land and pack
up in crazy winds. So, if you're just looking at short sessions in the fickle winds where I live, they'd work. But an arc will be less likely to
sudden pull you off the board.
Blowing sand wouldn't be too much a problem in a bigger arc, but you could consider taking along a small, rechargeable inflator pump and inflate
through a small zipper openingMaven454 - 26-11-2009 at 07:16 AM
If the sand is really blowing badly, you're likely to get a lot of sand in the regular foils as well. I'd probably recommend the arc. But I'm about
to get myself a pair of 2010 Frenzies, so :dunno:...Bladerunner - 26-11-2009 at 07:43 AM
I have ordered a 10m Charger as my high wind kite ( + trainer arc ) but did so thinking I may go for a 6m and be SURE my high winds are covered . I
would have gone for an 8 otherwise.Maven454 - 26-11-2009 at 07:49 AM
If I went for a open-cell depower foil in 30+, I'd be more likely to reach for a 4m Access than a 7m Frenzy. Size for an arc, I'd likely agree with
Bladerunner and go for a 8m arc.tridude - 26-11-2009 at 08:38 AM
Arcs no doubt....you should ask around on racekites.com as well being a UK forum:duh::duh:herc - 26-11-2009 at 08:57 AM
what about buying a coleman quickpump (or similiar) to inflate your arc kite , and put the quickpump loosely in small bag made of some very fine mesh, that filters out your dust and flying sand? so
both your kite and the quickpump are nicely protected!edk442 - 26-11-2009 at 11:49 AM
i wouldn't go for a frenzy in gusty conditions. the access makes a good high wind kite because it provides more pull, whereas the frenzy gives more
lift.

@BR, i got a 8m too ... the 6m seemed small however IF the winds are going at NABX it will be worth to have that size.
@Jellikin, what are the guys/gals in your area using?
you said you flew the Flexi Sabre 7m what did you think it of?
the Frenzy will be similar to that?
if you got for a 8 or 10 charger you dont have to lay it down to inflate in 30+, you grab both sides and open up both zippers and it will fill in no
time flat.
no matter if you go depower foil or arc sand is always there. I like foils that DO NOT have mesh screens in the front. Most say they stop the sand, i
bet anything there is some inside your kite. Dry-Outs do the job too, but doesnt drain out everything.
Solution is the Vacuum.Jellikin - 26-11-2009 at 03:54 PM
I enjoyed flying the Sabre although it was in smooth 18mph winds, felt as though it needed to be flown in higher winds to get anything out of it. Not
as powerful as my 4m Crossfire 2. I'm definately getting a 15m Syn/Charger just can't make up my mind what to buy for when the wind is too strong for
the 15. All of the people i know who fly in my part of the world use FB foils apart from the guy i borrowed the Sabre off. How about an LEI for high
gusty wind flying.Bladerunner - 26-11-2009 at 05:13 PM
I would go Bow / Hybrid before standard foil but I don't have personal experience with them.
My 7m Pulse has a huge top end but gets a bit snatchy in the high gusty winds. My 15 Syn is close to the same top end mostly because of the smooth
power delivery. I would go 15 and 8 personally. I am going with the 10 for the added value as an intro to arcs kite. Rip will have an 8 and if I feel
rich + the need I'll go for the 6 so I'm never blown out. Rip is smaller than me but happier with a size larger because he is CRAZY for power !
At the moment I find My 2.5 Profoil fixed bridle covers me if it is too windy for my 15m Syn.tridude - 29-11-2009 at 06:28 PM
if you need a pump/blower to inflate and ARC you dont have enough wind IMO..........................well unless your in a
hurry...........................:duh::duh:wanjia - 30-11-2009 at 11:37 PM
hehe .the sand will not entry in if there are cells in the front

I think a 7m Frenzy would be a bad pic for punchy 30+ winds.
Everyone's right an Arc would handle the high winds and gusts better tha an Frenzy any day. Faster turning and just swallows gusts. A 10m ARC would be
a close comparison size wise.
If you set on an open cell foil the Access would handle gusts a little better and a lot of people I know also swear by the Apex for dirty winds as
well.
The V1,V2,Scorp,Synergy all out turn and handle in gusty better than any open cell I've ever flown. They just take a little getting used to launching
and landing.tridude - 1-12-2009 at 05:26 AM
good call Feyd and the Charger has a release/available date...........................hoping ACampbell orders one for personal use/
demo................................:duh::duh:
