Well over all a great day, winds picked up to about 20 mph. Starting to get a little better on the snowboard but Ski's are better for me. I was
working off a huge knoll using it as a ramp and things were good. The winds were some of the nicest I've been in this year. The float was incredible
with a little bar work, pulled a triple 360. The next run I caught an edge of my board on something under the snow, it flicked me violently but the
wind caught the kite and launched me into the air. Tried to get my self straightened out but just couldn't get it. So long story short, came down hard
on my right knee and felt something snap. I gathered my wits about me and worked through the pain and packed up. In the truck I finally took a look at
the knee. It was apparent it was bleeding under the skin and something was stabbing me internally.
Fast forward to hospital, after the x-rays the Dr said emergency surgery time. It appears I broke a small sliver off the bone so had to be removed.
They froze me up and went to work. Amazing what they can do now with a little hole and a camera. So the good news is its out and they cleaned up the
edge to assure no more damage internally.
Hey Rev, definitely have to get my leg guards back from you...lol.
So down for a couple days, hobbling a bit today but over all feels pretty good and lucky.f0rgiv3n - 27-11-2009 at 09:43 AM

PS. Nice 1080 krumly - 27-11-2009 at 09:57 AM
Figure your down for only a few days? That's amazing. Did the doc's have any worries about how you load the knee in the future? Good luck on a quick
recovery.

Wowzers. Here's to a speedy recovery!revpaul - 27-11-2009 at 10:30 AM
wow. sorry to hear about the wipe...glad it's not a long term outage. we'll meet somewhere for coffee and i'll bring the pads. i was looking at
telford lake, the other day, all frozen over and "no snow" thinking of your flexi w/blades. i doubt we'll get a chance to use it on a clean ice
surface. i'm guessing the ice is not thick enough and when it is, as per usuall, it will be covered with snow.
new grandson doing ok?

Good luck with the quick recovery. Amazing how far they have come.WolfWolfee - 27-11-2009 at 11:00 AM
Well Krumly, I already have major knee damage so no changes really. Lucked out with the fact a orthopedic was in the hospital that day. Thing that
chokes my chicken is found the camera and my helmet strap broke, cheap rubber. I really had a great day, winds where so clean and just perfect for the
Scorpion. It had to be the first triple 360 I ever pulled off with a sweet landing to boot and no video....bummer. In a little pain today but overall
feeling pretty good. Packing lots of ice to help with swelling and a funny movie never hurts. Hey Rev, have you taken a look at Coal lake, its really
shallow and freezes over quickly, just a thought.Maven454 - 27-11-2009 at 11:01 AM

Heal up fast man.WolfWolfee - 27-11-2009 at 01:37 PM
I kited that lake several times, with the right wind direction it was great. As you say very long and narrow with several areas where the lake necks
off. It was like hitting the turbo in these areas. The natural surrounding terrain is a good funnel and the winds were pretty clean but direction of
the wind was everything. If I remember correctly average depth was 4 feet. I remember it had some wild snow drift areas and it was pretty hard packed.
I hit one expecting to plow my way through and got launched...lol. I use to go into the lake by the water plant.macboy - 27-11-2009 at 01:54 PM

i am without gimp or limp :singing: (hoping, as i am sure is my employer, to stay that way for a while)
it's been a long time since i unrolled a kite. my RII 6.9 hasn't even kissed the sky yet. i imagine i'll get out on skiis (i'm leary about the ankle)
and take it easy (like i did before so that should be easy enough). hopefully do about 10X more buggy'n in 2010. Derek says he is for sure going to do
the same.

Harden the %$#@ up! lol
Get well man, you've got kiting to do.
Now if we could just get some nano,bio-tech,cyber technology, hey, wait minute they do. It's that 3d0 or something like that. thick viscous
liquid/paste that hardens up on impact. I think we might have to explore this on another thread. sorry , I divergedB-Roc - 27-11-2009 at 06:27 PM
