Power Kite Forum

Oh dear :(

Kamikuza - 1-12-2009 at 05:17 AM

Y'all remember I bought a 19m VenomII a while back? Like, 4 months ago? Had it sent to a buddy on base in Tokyo cos the shipping was half the price ...

Well, after literally months of "Dude I'll send it out on Wednesday this week I promise" and me biting my tongue, trying not to climb on his back, my 'good' buddy assures me (twice) he sent the kite 2 Sundays ago ... by courier :ticking: nothings arrived and we called the company and they've had nothing for this address in the past few months ...

... I'm hoping to Murphy's Law this one into resolving itself - by whinging about it openly and in public, it should - according to The Law - arrive tomorrow and make me look like an ass ...

:(

BeamerBob - 1-12-2009 at 07:43 AM

Lets hope you look like an ass tomorrow then. :bigok: Ok, we'll also hope your kite arrives safe and sound. How close is this "buddy"?

waiting for new toys sucks:thumbdown:

Maven454 - 1-12-2009 at 09:05 AM

Hopefully we don't run into this issue with the kite I mailed to you yesterday.

Yeah. I ordered my new Frenzies on Thursday (yes, Thanksgiving Day). I didn't really expect them to be mailed out by Kent until today (Tuesday). Then I spoke to Kent on Monday and found out that while he had expected them to be delivered to his shop on Friday, he didn't have them yet. So I'm pretty sure that I won't see them until around the end of next week, which matched up with my original expectations anyway. And yet, some how I was still disappointed not to receive tracking info yesterday . Silly, isn't it? Worse, I'm sure that once they show up, I'll likely have to wait a month or more until I get good winds to use them in, but I still wish they were here right now ;).

Know what you mean Maven. Flyjump and I are trying to perfect a "Wind Dance" to appease the wind gods.

lynx69 - 1-12-2009 at 09:39 AM

Who is teaching your class while you are online Flyjump? Look outside, it blowing 13mph. Time to go...

Good luck Kami! I know there's a 'something about shipping to Japan' joke in here somewhere :P

lad - 1-12-2009 at 10:32 AM

I hear that Japanese Air Mail takes some patience...

So what if you look like an ass, as long as you have your kite right?

It should look something like twisting your ankle on a snowboard with one foot in the bindings. It is windy here now with my ankle wrapped up.

Probably sub-optimal.

From Tokyo to Kyoto ... about 500km. I bought the kite in late August, arrived mid September :( I had a PDA sent from Tokyo this week by the same company - took 3 days from sending to arriving ...
Like I said, he said he'd actually given it to the courier 2 Sundays back and on this Monday said yeah yeah I sent it ...!

The real pisser is, there's a Synergy 19 for sale SOMEWHERE (is secret :D ) and if he's lost my V2 then I want to jump on that ...!

Waiting for the toys to arrive is fine, I have no problem with that - not knowing for sure whether it'll arrive or not is what's burning my muffins ...!
I know the guys doing me a favour but #@%$#!, if he's taken on responsibility for forwarding it then he should goddamn forward it!

not many of the big arcs floating around.... nice find!

Kamikuza - 1-12-2009 at 10:47 PM

In that case I might buy it anyway

Got an update - apparently, my buddy went back to the place he sent the box from to find that the courier company didn't take it cos he didn't write contents on it ... reckons he'll have it in the post tomorrow  ri-iiiight ....!

you never know, you might get that kite after all.... I bought a kite recently and sent the guy on a bit of a run-around, so it does happen.... All was good in the end but the cash came in about a month late, all almost but not quite my fault....

Kamikuza - 2-12-2009 at 05:07 AM

I'm playing with myself at the moment :bigok:
Since I've felt up to trying a kite out, we've had no wind on the weekends as yet and it's dark by the time I finish work :(
I did open the bag and have a sniff though Rip  smells and looks brand new! Thanks again :)

J-post is actually pretty slick ... cheaper than anywhere else in the world and muy efficient - you can usually track the package from the reciept number, without shelling out for more expensive services!

Kamikuza - 12-12-2009 at 10:37 PM

Well guess what - it arrived at last! :wee:

Bee-you-ti-full! Cheers Feyd, really great deal ... and worth the wait!

rocfighter - 13-12-2009 at 05:36 AM

Almost like waiting for a baby to be born!! Just a bit shorter time. Have fun with it.:bouncing:

lad - 13-12-2009 at 06:21 AM

"Almost like waiting for a baby to be born!!"

Unless, of course, you've been waiting on Multiple Kites...

OK, that pic really grossed me out, no need to ad insult to injury.

No deal is without some problem, at one point or another, we only hope it is minimal. Glad it worked out. I've been on both ends of the situation, still don't make it any better.

Kamikuza - 13-12-2009 at 06:41 PM

I've said it before, but as far as I'm concerned, once seller has put it in the post his responsibility is done and until it arrives the postal service is responsible.
In this case, it was Phil the bloody slacker's fault  ... admittedly, all I'm going to do is unroll it, admire the crisp blacks and brilliant blues and sparkling orange and then roll it up again  so there wasn't any real rush ... it arrived in Japan the day before I broke my wrist, after all :D

... there is a snowkiting festival in February, up in Niigata I'd like to go to but we'll see ...
