jumped on the east coast storm

PHREERIDER - 2-12-2009 at 05:13 PM

jumped on the ocean @ 3:30 for a storm ride , with rain about half way thru.

warm moist South wind, pushing up lengthy interval 6-8ft swell.

nice blasting on the way out, strange rolling ride on the leg back in.

tide was pushing in made for dead spots right at the break , but with decent speed you could push thru.

the general feel was nice, a local jumped on with me and we ran til dark. actually warm could have riden without suits. powerhouse airs on the way back in. lots of warnings , most of the school where half day. surprising to check the local meters.
check it out.

the warm south wind and recent chill on the ground made for a strange effect.

standing on the beach you would guess MAYBE 15mph. windsurfer couldn't get past the break on the small rig he set up. and this guy has been riding 20 +yrs. but we were raging on kites. and if you dropped the kite low for an up wind pull it sometimes stalled like the air just disappeared, then whip it back up high and launch you like a rocket esp. under the break. at about 1/2mile out super solid jetting over these nice peaks. tide here just plays a big rule if the tide had been falling it would felt very harsh on the ride(board).

I knew which kite he was on before the answer. If the 13 goes down then the 16 is next on the water.
I hope I can make my 13 work like that soon. I think I'm about to put in some frequent flier miles and ratchet things up on the water. I hope I can get on the water this weekend, if the wind will inch up a bit.

we'll find a spot to hit the water if the wind is right
