Zero4 Upgrade?

InvertedForce - 2-12-2009 at 09:48 PM

I've been looking at possibly upgrading my Zero4 bar to the Zero7 loop/line by buying a replacement and installing. Is this even a good idea? I hate the safety of the zero4, the way the chicken loop actually opens and disconnects, and the safety pin. I like the tophat safety cover of the zero7 not to mention the swiveling leash.

One thing I noticed is my safety leash on the zero4 is attached to one of the center lines, whereas on my friend's zero7, its one of the depower lines. Would this be any cause for concern upon replacement? Would it require me to move the leash to a depower line?

Has anybody successfully upgraded their Zero4 to a hybrid Zero7 using this method?
If so, is this the correct depower loop/line configuration for making the upgrade?

Get a hold of Rip. He should be able to help you with that one.

I believe the answer to your question is yes - the bit below the adjuster strap just knots on to what's above it; the difference being the safety methods. You should be able to adjust the lengths to make it fit.

My guess is that they went from the front line safety to rear, to lower chances of a tangled line powering the kite up again.

IMO and I think it's shared, you still need to leash the bar to your harness, even with the PL leash on :D the chicken loop has a Suicide Leash D-ring for that ...

Or you could just buy the zero7 twinskin bar that I'm selling :D.

Well, I would like to have two bars so I could have another friend flying at the same time.
Buuuut, how much are you selling the Zero7 bar for?

Brand NEW 60cm twinskin bar with 27m lines for $275. This bar has the new improved DD that is less likely to come loose.

Probably more than you want to pay :dunno:. But the bar really is brand new and unused, as are the lines.

Yea, I was hoping to max at about $200 plus shipping, but maybe if it hasn't sold in a week or two, I can put some aside and get it. I need a 60cm for my 16m Venom, so thats looking pretty enticing :)

Right. Just keep in mind that everyone keeps saying that the kites I'm selling are great deals, so they might be gone. Hey, a man can dream, right?

Well, they ARE good deals, and I wish I had a few extra hundred lying around, I would get them RTF, but alas my bank account is hurting, so Im trying to be thrifty now :)

When I have some flow again, I'll u2u and see whats still available. I hope you make your sales before that happens, but you never know, some people are slow to act (ie, me) haha.
