about 10M FB or Depower

rocfighter - 4-12-2009 at 04:13 AM

I am looking to go a bit larger for buggying. I have a 5M fb now. If depower I would need the whole set-up.
Also no need to be perfect. As long as it still flies well. Fades and good repairs do not upset us!!

You've already noted the 10m Apex II that I have for sale. Another viable option would be the 16m Scorpion that I have up for sale. I realize that it seems big, but the arcs aren't as efficient as the foils, so you would want a larger arc. And if you want a bit more power than the 5m FB provides, something a little larger than 10m (depower) might not hurt either.

I have an excellent condition SkyCountry Reflex 10M RTF for $700. Beware though, this is WAAAAAAAY more than "a bit larger for buggying"! This kite is a MONSTER.

I think that the difference between a 10 fb and 10 depower is fairly huge. A 10 depower will have less low end but will probably have a significantly bigger range.

Seconded.

I have only flown FB as of yet. But I watch alot og videos and it seems that about half the buggiers are using depower. I thought I would look into it. The biggest I have now is a 5m fb. I enjoy it and it will drag me with ease across a field static with 20 mph wind. I guess I still want more power!

the 10m FB will be too much in any wind over 10 mph, most likely you will rarely use it.... maybe consider a 7m or so? it will prob get a lot more use, IMO

Cool Dylan thanks for the input. All is appriciated.

There's nothing wrong with considering a 10m depower, that will likely be very useful. It's the 10m FB that would be really big for most conditions :D.

More excellent advice. Thank you.
