Hi guys/girls, my name is Rob and I've been a huge fan of this forum since August of 09. I've gained soooo much knowledge from following all the
various discusions and advice to other kiters. Green Bay, WI is where I call home. I once thought that power kiting was something exclusive to the
sandy shores of the ocean, but found out that it can be done just about anywhere in the world. I will be honest and say that at 39 I feel like I
represent the "older" part of the kiting community and wish I had found this sport a long time ago. I've been flying a 4 meter Beamer since September
and have gotten a ton of hours on it already! At 6' 5" and 225lbs I felt it was a reasonable size along with using good judgement. Bought it from
Dakitez, a great place with alot of nice eye candy $ $. Talk to you all later. The hooks are in!

Hi Rob and welcome....
I think you will find this thread of interest. There's a fair amount of grey hair getting blown around in the wind.
ATB,
Sam

Thanks Sam, that makes me feel much better. I realize its mostly a state of mind, but I just don't seem to bounce like I used to. At least the
"invincible" part of my mind has been replaced by the common sense part. I feel that keeps me a tad safer that way. I'm still trying to get used to
this whole posting thing. I visit this forum just about everyday (except when there's wind) so I figured it was inevitable that I was going to join.
Take care!

Welcome Chedderhead,
Ask us anything!
Just don't expect us all to agree! Too many ways to have fun at this sport for any one person to have the only right answer for you !
I only wish I got started at this sport when I was young , like you.
You should be honoured ! Not everybody gets a spammer so soon :megan:
PKF is good at getting on top of that stuff.
DAKITEZ - 27-12-2009 at 04:12 PM

Welcome, Rob...
I'm almost twice your age and a dinosaur compared to many, but the heart still wants the excitement kite flying can provide... another of life's
challenges. A lot of nice people out there doing the same.
Glad you've come along because everyone needs a break from my questions. I've been most active with my Beamer IV 4m as you are, and for about the
same amount of time.
I've purchased a Synergy 12m, and am gearing up to try depower for the the first time.
Wishing you the best and anxious to see what you specialize in. Regardless, you'll get a lot of great help with the folks on this forum.
Wishing you and all the folks who'll read this a happy new year!

Chedder age is relivant to mind set. You are as old as you feel.
Wheres my rocking chair.
I am also in the Wow look at that old guy trying to be cool age. And tall. I fly a 5m foil most of the time and it's good mostly.
