The best kite for jumping in LOW LOW wind ?

Bladerunner - 30-12-2009 at 10:35 AM

O.K.

Rip' is smaller than me 115lbs but has 10 times the balls under that pink skirt.

I wear a Kilt. I'm cheap and lazy with 1/10th the balls. 140lbs

I am finding that riding with no airtime is about like sex without climax. I can do it all day but I'm not exactly getting off !

We very often get light thermal breezes here and I can take advantage in a somewhat small park with clean wind.

We NEED a kite for jumping in these LOW LOW winds that our beloved arcs won't yet fly in.

Yesterday was a steady 4 - 7 or 8 kts and I could force a ride out of the 15 Syn while someone seemed = on a 12 Pulse II . Enough to ride but pathetic air for both of us.

What kite will give air in the lowest wind ??????

your big twister or blade don't get it done?

flyjump - 30-12-2009 at 10:44 AM

Speed 19 or 15? Will they jump in that wind range

Bladerunner - 30-12-2009 at 10:46 AM

Gee,

Twister . You think !:smug:

I'm working on that one. I'm certian it will come close. I should have tried it yesterday but it was 1st day out snowkiting and not one of us waisted time setting out more than one kite. 8m Husky ( beginer ) , 10m access , 14 waroo, 12 Pulse2 and my syn. No one was jumping well but the waroo was winning due to rider skill.

The twister is new to me and meant to replace my Blade . The Blade was a great engine for low wind but way too slow for my style jumping in low winds. The Twister will serve for a quick fix for sure.

How is the 7.7 Twister II for jumping in low low wind ??????????????????

If you are looking for a depower, then you could for one of the big Flysurfer Speed kites. The Speed 2s or 3s would probably work for you. You could probably get away with a 12m for land riding, but I would recommend the 15m for the water. You will definitely get more air out of the 15m. If it feels too big, pull in the trim strap. The amazing thing about this kite, is it takes a LOT to get overpowered with the S3. The S2 has a more limited range as it doesnt turn nearly as quickly. The S3 will go right out to the edge if you are feeling a bit overpowered. This widens the range of the kite considerably.

If you can, I would recommend trying it out, just to see what you think...

This is what I'm thinking is best ?? My 13m Psycho III was close but my poor style needs faster steering .

If you need faster turning the new S3s turn very nicely. Is there anyone in your area with one you can try?

I found that for my style my older , soft 9m Blade II was too slow turning to fit my begining jumper style. I do wonder how the newer Blades compete? Flexi is one product that is hard to demo here.

Mostly for those 10.3 Reactor days at Gary Point for me.
I am hoping the Twister will satisfy the Vanier after work sessions but possibly there to.

Water , not my biggest worry. I need a decent wind for getting started so the arcs should be my go to kite there?

I'm pretty sold on a 15.SA III ?????

Dylan,

I had a 13m Psycho III. I'm pretty sure that now my timing is better I could get more out of it but found the 13 turned just a bit slow for me in thos super low winds? Once the wind picked up jumps were easier + floaty.

Broc, I think the Bego would suit my style also. I will keep that option open

Ace 12... If I can get it off the ground I can jump with it... 4 knots?

But no fun.... jump isn't the right word, more like pick my feet off the ground by running around underneath the thing, the kite moves less than I do...

Big FB's and low winds seemed like the ticket for me, but after having tried, it's a pale shadow of a fix, the more I fly the less I enjoy the mosquito fart winds... There needs to be some juice to it, at 6 knots it's getting better...

Maybe you guys should go for the 19m s3 after all...

remember I'm still stuck in static mode...
