U-Turn Butane Pass sign up

Big Earl - 2-1-2010 at 07:01 PM

I could pass a 4.5m or a 5.5m U-Turn Butane. Sign up and whitchever size is most requested is what I will send out.

Heliboy50 is #1 on the list

Happy New Year!

heliboy50 - 2-1-2010 at 07:11 PM

5.5 would be my vote. U2U with my addy, Big Earl.

power - 2-1-2010 at 09:24 PM

5.5m has my vote. Could I be next on the list? I'll send me address if I can get on the list.

WIllardTheGrey - 2-1-2010 at 10:19 PM

I would like to have a pass but don't want too get stuck with shipping it coast to coast, last time I passed it was 38 bucks in shipping. Cheep to try a $500 kite I know but I'm a skinflint.

5.5 is also my vote.

heliboy50 - 3-1-2010 at 12:36 AM

hey WTG- we could kill 2 birds with one stone. Where is the best bug riding near Florence?

ripsessionkites - 3-1-2010 at 04:33 AM

hehehe, heli is from vancouver, wa ... we're in vancouver, bc.

we have u-turns to demo too, minus the space.

For those in the Cali area, contact Dakitez since their is a Butan 5.5 there with Mr.Teamrider ScrewyFuzz.

Nitros and Xenon will be going around to shop soon too. Of course you can aways fly one down at NABX. =)

youll like the butans, its very stable for a midrange race kite for the buggy. those that like lift (not as much as the blade) can set the SPS to that mode for landboarding. nice thing about U-Turns is that they can be modified easily with a UDS III system and make them De-Power.

a note for you inland gusty fliers, normally AFS works fine however if you're dealing with major gusty conditions I suggest opening up the Dirt-outs.

heliboy50 - 3-1-2010 at 11:09 AM

Good info, Rip. I'm pretty much right at the mouth of the CR Gorge so in the winter it's all easterly gusties. I'm really curious about the De-power conversion, too. NABX NABX NABX.

Driftwood shores, about 200 feet wide by about a mile long of ridable hard pac. That would be awesome if your down this way.

Big Earl - 4-1-2010 at 10:31 AM

pigryder - 4-1-2010 at 11:35 AM

Big Earl - 4-1-2010 at 03:03 PM

Big Earl - 5-1-2010 at 08:45 PM

So far the list goes as follows:

Heliboy50
Willardthegrey
Power
Pigryder
bobalooie57

Anybody on the western US want to get in on the pass before it goes east?

A note on shipping, The kite and handles fit in a large flat rate box from the USPS, anywhere in the US for like $14 and change.

heliboy50 - 5-1-2010 at 10:04 PM

Insurance?

I'll second that:wee::roll::wee:

pigryder - 6-1-2010 at 05:03 AM

Hey guys it costs me almost nothing to ship it fedex from work so I could ship it to the west coast cheap if it goes that way after me ;-)

bobalooie57 - 6-1-2010 at 05:45 AM

Gotta find someone in the middle, for out and back,(to save some of Willard's skin!) how 'bout it drewculous? All your time spent in planning for the big day? C'mon you know you want to fly this beast! What about you guys at UND? No one want to try a Butane? Please add me to the list Big Earl, I think the Libre Radical is on it's way to the frozen north, I can't wait to try/review that one!

WIllardTheGrey - 6-1-2010 at 06:14 AM

If it fits in a flat rate box then there are no worries. Smart of Big Earl to forgo the bag, its just a lot of extra weight and size no one needs.

Big Earl - 6-1-2010 at 09:31 AM

As for insurance $300 will be fine.

heliboy50 - 6-1-2010 at 02:49 PM

I'll go halves with WTG on shipping since I will more than likely be delivering to him in person. Looks like we need power's addy. But let's not get ahead of ourselves:spin:

power - 6-1-2010 at 07:14 PM

Willard do you need it? Btw, how long do we each get to keep it for?

Big Earl - 6-1-2010 at 08:35 PM

I am not really picky about how long each person keeps the kite for, but a week would be nice if you get some good time on the kite or maybe 2 weeks if the weather doesn't cooperate with you.

heliboy50 - 7-1-2010 at 07:07 PM

Got it today and had a quick go with it static. The wind was a bit heavy for my skills with a 5.5m (gusting into the upper 20's) but first impressions are very nice. Smooth power delivery, fast but very controllable. I also think it will fly in less wind than other kites of it's size. It has more leading edge vents than some other higher performance kites, and doesn't rely as much on internal v-bracing like the JoJoRM does so I believe it will be less prone to luffing. I should have a chance for some buggy time with it Sunday, so I can write more then.:wee:

When are we going to start passing chargers?

No need for that if its flat rate. Your gana be the one driving down here I think I'll be getting the better end of the bargain on that one, a new kite to try and someone to fly it with who is more experienced than me, sounds great.

@ Power u2u me your addy, no rush tho.

I wouldn't go that far- I'm pretty good at scaring the crap out of myself, getting tossed out of my buggy, tantrums, and gift wrapping cars for sure. Nah, I like the Florence area a lot so it's all good. Just hope for some good weather- maybe for like next weekend. I don't want to sit on Earl's kite for too long waiting for perfect weather because that will be a while.
