Wildwood Buggy Bash Spring 2010

 Pages:  1    3  ..  6

power - 5-1-2010 at 02:59 PM

I know it may be a bit early but when does the spring bash usually happen? I want to make sure I have that weekend free so that I don't miss it like I did in the fall! Also who's going?

Todd - 5-1-2010 at 03:12 PM

In the spring!

I would look for it in the May time frame before the beaches open up to the tourist. I'll call Don and find out for you.

cheezycheese - 5-1-2010 at 03:16 PM

count me in FO SHO... :cool2:

Maven454 - 5-1-2010 at 03:22 PM

I will be there.

WELDNGOD - 5-1-2010 at 03:38 PM

I will be there ,if the good lord is willing and the creek don't rise. Can't wait to meet some of you folks. Will bring buggy trailer for tandem riding.

power - 5-1-2010 at 05:37 PM

O man I thought it was around march! Looks like I'll just have to be patient. But keep the list going I wanna see how many guys are going to be there.

Todd - 5-1-2010 at 05:46 PM

I'm sure there will be many trips in March for some much needed beach time but I think it's good to build the hype early :spin:

Awaiting a call back, I have a tentative but want to confirm.

barnes - 5-1-2010 at 06:35 PM

I'm in!

power - 5-1-2010 at 06:37 PM

Man you haven't been on in a while. I sent you a U2U a while ago about your scorp.

lad - 5-1-2010 at 07:32 PM

There's bound to be a few get-togethers before the "official" Spring Bash.
I'd like to return as soon as I assemble enough proper wind-chill gear!

ragden - 6-1-2010 at 06:30 AM

You know I'll be there... :)

bugymangp - 6-1-2010 at 10:33 AM

i`ll be there.
i had a great time at the fall event after 2yrs of not buggying.
i started this event in the mid 90`s and i was lucky to get 6 buggiers there.
when i went to the fall event. i was very proud to see like 40 buggiers.
buggying and kite flying has taken a back seat for me lately.
i moved on to building 1.1 cars but i will always hold a special place in my heart for buggying and the friends i made.
nice stunt kite!!!!!! can you buggy with it???? LOL

Knolee - 6-1-2010 at 01:00 PM

Rag, will Brian be there too? (He needs to get back on this forum!)

bugymangp - 6-1-2010 at 01:44 PM

YEA!!!!!! where is brian??????

Todd - 6-1-2010 at 03:32 PM

I talked with him last week and I believe he was with Ragden this past weekend on the snowboards.

Good to hear from you bugymangp!

shehatesmyhobbies - 7-1-2010 at 02:43 AM

Count me in! I am actually probabally going to spend a couple extra days there this time.I did not get enough days off last time but will make sure to this time! Hope to see some of you there before then!

Brian has been out on both the snowkiting trips I went on in December. He will also be at the Tug Hill kite ralley (last I heard in any case). He seems to be doing well. Was flying his pants off last I saw... :)

kteguru - 28-1-2010 at 01:41 PM

Aha, I knew there was a thread on this somewhere . When is the final date usually announced? Feb, March? I was just planning ahead to make sure I set aside at least 5 days to get in extra buggy time and a more reasonable drive down there.

lad - 28-1-2010 at 02:37 PM

All of youse guys need to visit (and join) THE NJBUGGY CLUB for the latest developments.

kteguru - 28-1-2010 at 02:56 PM

Thanks for the link lad

power - 28-1-2010 at 07:35 PM

How do you join NJ buggy club?

Todd - 29-1-2010 at 05:12 AM

:wow: you guys are reading my mind :wow:

I called Don yesterday on this very same subject and await his return call. I 'll post up a date as soon as I have it. David, no real way to join just show up and have fun.

power - 29-1-2010 at 09:03 AM

How do you post on the forum?

ragden - 29-1-2010 at 11:24 AM

I think we did this in May of last year, but I am not 100% positive.
Nothing new on the NJ Buggy Club posts, just checked.

Todd- What did Don have to say?
Power- Just register on the website, actually posting is a bit more difficult. I can walk you through it though. Shoot me an e-mail and I'll explain how I normally generate new blogs there...

It's not really a forum. It's set up as a blog, for reasons I don't entirely understand.

Todd - 29-1-2010 at 08:12 PM

No word as of yet... will call again tomorrow. :(

Don is probably too busy getting ready for NABX and a 2 month hiatus :singing:

Jaymz - 30-1-2010 at 09:29 PM

WOW! I think Don was reading my mind. :o
I have'nt logged on here in over a week, and as I was reading this thread, I hear an Email chime in. Sure enough it was from Don saying......

kteguru - 31-1-2010 at 10:37 AM

Woohoo!!!!!! Dates are set. I'll be there thursday thru sunday:wee::wee:. Who's going to be my first victim,,,,,,eeerrrrr,,,,,, I mean passenger:bigok:. I think the wind gods are going to be extra good to us this spring:yes::yes:

cheezycheese - 31-1-2010 at 12:54 PM

Are the hotels going to be open in may...?

Maven454 - 31-1-2010 at 12:58 PM

The Apollo opens May 1st.

shehatesmyhobbies - 1-2-2010 at 07:50 PM

WOOOOO HOOOOO! Time to start the planning. So looking forward to this. I will be heading over Wed. after work more than likely. I am going to take the camper over and stay thru Sunday. Wife and kids will be over Fri. after school gets out!

Can't wait!:D

lad - 1-2-2010 at 08:13 PM

Apollo was open in may last year. Plus, there are year-round notell motels along Rt. 47 north of WW.

Frathouse - 1-2-2010 at 08:21 PM

Can't wait for the the spring thing. Must remember to take time off this year

kteguru - 1-2-2010 at 10:27 PM

@ SHMH,,,,, Let me know what day's you plan on heading down there. I'm sure I could get down there for more than just the planned fri, sat, sun. I wasn't sure though if I should get down there too early in the week though as riding solo with no one else around can spell disaster if you get hurt. Maybe there will be a few of us who will start the buggy bash early:bigok::wee:

shehatesmyhobbies - 2-2-2010 at 06:05 AM

Guru, Rian and I should be there Wed. night to set up the camper, I'm hoping before dark for sure. We will be hitting the beach for a Thursday run for sure. I will keep you updated the closer we get. I know what you mean about solo runs there. I would love to do a Wed evening run if possible!

ragden - 2-2-2010 at 07:27 AM

Solo runs at Wildwood? Are you kidding? Doesnt ever happen (at least in my experience). You can almost always get Joecat (he lives there) to come fly with you. I'm in debate right now as to whether I'm coming out Wednesday night, leaving on Sunday... Or heading out Thursday night, and staying through Monday. I'll probably make that call a little closer to the event. Depends on wind predictions I suppose. I'll talk with the wife and figure something out. :)

Maven454 - 2-2-2010 at 07:46 AM

I figure on coming in Thursday morning and leaving Sunday around noon.

kteguru - 2-2-2010 at 09:24 AM

Thanks for the input guys. I'll plan on driving down Wed. morning (maybe get an afternoon run in) and leaving Sunday night.

ragden - 2-2-2010 at 09:29 AM

Well, if the general consensus is to head down for riding thursday - sunday, then I'll play ball with that...

Tibi - 5-2-2010 at 05:27 AM

Hope I'll be able to be there for the full three days. Can't wait to meet everybody.

bluefunelement - 5-2-2010 at 07:35 AM

I look forward to this one!!!

silvereaglekiter - 5-2-2010 at 01:09 PM

A 1.7 Sting is in the mail so I will be able to fly what ever wend gods send our way year:bigok: bring it on

ragden - 5-2-2010 at 01:16 PM

Blue, you comin to this one? I know you talked about the last one, but couldnt make it... Hope to see ya there.

Silver- good to have a small kite, sometimes conditions get a little ballistic, eh?
:wee:

silvereaglekiter - 5-2-2010 at 01:19 PM

me + wildwood = 30 mph wends :D

what were the Apollo's room rates like last year

bigben91682 - 5-2-2010 at 02:39 PM

I'm lookin to make the trip down this year, with the wife in tow no less....I should round up the other New Yorkers.....cheeze? Bob? yall want to go?

Knolee - 5-2-2010 at 04:14 PM

Would the BB be rescheduled if there were bad conditions?

Todd - 5-2-2010 at 04:26 PM

I don't see why not however it's getting close to the people returning to the beach along with the lifeguards.

Knolee - 5-2-2010 at 05:39 PM

I think the guards begin Memorial Day weekend, or a week or so earlier. So assuming that we get heavy downpours and/or thunderstorms that weekend or just terrible wind, shouldn't it be at least the week before?

cheezycheese - 5-2-2010 at 10:03 PM

@bigben- i'll be there for sure. my kids wont let me miss it, they are anxiously waiting for a ride on Dean's buggy... gonna probably leave early fri morn. Can't wait...!!!!

kteguru - 5-2-2010 at 10:25 PM

 You got it Cheezy! Let the rides begin:wee::wee:. I've got the funny feeling the turnout will almost double from last year:singing::singing:. Nothing better than a buggy and kgb party at Wildwood.:wee::wee:

WELDNGOD - 6-2-2010 at 05:37 AM

Is it May yet?

bigben91682 - 6-2-2010 at 05:59 AM

@cheezycheese - same with us, take off REAL early Friday morning and get down there by 10ish, stay until Sunday Afternoon. Probably stay at the apollo....looking forward to meeting everyone. Now we've just got to get babalooie on the wagon.

BoneHeadGolf - 14-2-2010 at 07:56 PM

@cheezycheese, @bigben - Looking forward to meeting you guys and others at the BB, NYC represent... I've been jonesing to try a buggy and hope to find someone to set me up with my first seat. :wee:

cheezycheese - 15-2-2010 at 04:22 AM

no problem bonehead, there will be loads of folks willing to set you straight. i should even have an extra buggy by then...:smug:

WELDNGOD - 15-2-2010 at 04:30 AM

I will have a extra seat. However ,the missus will be ridin shotgun most of the time.

Wolfpaklv - 25-2-2010 at 09:42 PM

Don't forget about NABX '10. Peter Lynn will be here in the flesh. www.nabx.net

rocfighter - 20-3-2010 at 06:04 PM

Hey guys are there any camp grounds near the flying area? Just in case we can't find a timeshare avalible.

silvereaglekiter - 20-3-2010 at 06:17 PM

Thisis the place Me & Shehatesmyhobbys(I think) stayed last fall I cant remember the name. nice place though

rocfighter - 21-3-2010 at 05:08 AM

Cool beans,I assume this is a local camp ground? I couldn't get in close enouph to see the sign. Did you make a res or just show up?

silvereaglekiter - 21-3-2010 at 05:20 AM

Found the name it is Seashore Campsites. I just showed up.
(Man I really need to clean out my truck)

rocfighter - 21-3-2010 at 06:43 AM

Thanks man I will check it out.

ragden - 22-3-2010 at 05:57 AM

Silver, is that the place we stayed at last october? Or was that the october before? I'm losing track of time...

If its the same place, it was really nice. Campsites werent especially large, but it was convienent and the price was right. :)

bobalooie57 - 22-3-2010 at 07:22 AM

Hey, Ragden, gettin' fuzzy, eh? lol Last spring we stayed at the Beachcomber camping resort, remember?(LBJ's friend runs that one) Then fall was the Apollo. I was extremely spoiled by both bashes, spring was great, fall even better. IDK if this spring can top either, but it will be great to get together. Is it May, yet??? I can't wait!:D

ragden - 22-3-2010 at 07:57 AM

That sounds familiar. I was actually refering to a camping trip Silvereaglekiter and I did in October of... 08? We camped the first night at Cape Henlopen, and the second night at a campground in near Wildwood. Dont recall which it was, but it worked out quite well.

I do recall the last spring bash where we all camped. Was fun, aside from the rain. If we camp, it would be nice if we could get co-located camping spots, not like last year when we were all over the place...

bobalooie57 - 22-3-2010 at 08:03 AM

I do think Seashore might be closer to the action, than the Beachcomber. Yeah, would make a common area easier to arrange, loved the slideshow at the spring bash last year!

silvereaglekiter - 22-3-2010 at 10:35 AM

yes that is the same place. Last year I camped behind the pond the tent sites back their are much bigger then the one we camped on in 08. I think I'm leaning towards staying at the Apollo this year.

ragden - 22-3-2010 at 10:54 AM

I'll be following everyone else. If the crowd is at the Apollo, thats where I'll be. :)

Maven454 - 22-3-2010 at 11:02 AM

I'll be at the Apollo.

Maven454 - 22-3-2010 at 02:40 PM

Interesting, just tried to make reservations at the Apollo. In the fall I paid the reservation deposit by credit card, this time he's insisting that I have to mail him a check :puzzled:? Anyone else tried to make reservations yet?

ragden - 23-3-2010 at 05:09 AM

That sounds very familiar...

lad - 23-3-2010 at 07:03 AM

I would think that it's a safe bet that you won't need a reservation to get a room at the Apollo.

kteguru - 23-3-2010 at 09:48 AM

Hey guys. Since many of you guys are more familiar with the area than myself does anyone know the names of the hotels surrounding the Apollo? I'd like to stay in the general area for convenience but try somewhere new. The giant six or eight legged creature in the bathroom that could have swallowed my buggy whole last october kind of has me wanting to try a different spot. Any suggestions?

ragden - 23-3-2010 at 09:53 AM

The Days Inn of Wildwood is good. Make sure you mention why you are there, and they might cut you a discount. You can also contact the Ocean Beach resort. Their condos are amazing. Expensive, but REALLY nice. Both of these locations are about a mile down the road from the Apollo. Both are within walking distance of the Pier.

Maven454 - 23-3-2010 at 10:07 AM

kteguru, if you stay somewhere else let me know. I could be convinced to do that.

kteguru - 23-3-2010 at 10:39 AM

Thanks for the tips ragden I'll check them out.

Maven, I'll let you know what I find in the next couple days. I'd like to stay in the general area for convenience if we're all launching from the beach in front of the Apollo like last year. I got an offer on a condo just up the road but the price was in another universe. Let me see what I can dig up and I'll get in touch with you in the next couple days.
Good winds
Dean

Maven454 - 23-3-2010 at 12:00 PM

I agree with you about wanting to be near the launching area 100%.

ragden - 23-3-2010 at 12:02 PM

The question is, how close do you want to be, and how much do you want to pay to be there.... Apollo might not be GREAT, but the price is hard to beat (scary spiders aside)...
:)

kteguru - 23-3-2010 at 12:55 PM

Your probably right ragden. The Apollo may end up being the way to go. I just thought I'd poke around a bit to see other options :). That spider by the way was the size of my hand:o. Perhaps it was just a bit of bad luck getting the scary room. I'll blame Buggydanny since he's the one who got the room:smilegrin:

rocfighter - 23-3-2010 at 05:10 PM

I dought the monster would eat more than one person anyway. I know I haven't seen it but I have some big spiders here. And we are still all alive.
And maybe it was really just the welcoming commity :dunno:

kteguru - 23-3-2010 at 09:28 PM

Welcoming commity:lol:. If I thought of it that way I wouldn't have jumped when I saw it :D. I know buggydanny is bringing his wife and son this year. If there's any tarantula's in her room she will first kill the bug then kill Dan:lol:

Todd - 24-3-2010 at 04:49 AM

Do we now have an official person wearing a pink skirt on the East Coast now? :P We had a couple of barking tree spiders in our room and you didn't see us complaining

Is it May yet?

ragden - 24-3-2010 at 06:29 AM

Not quite yet Todd. I cant wait myself... :)

kteguru - 24-3-2010 at 08:33 AM

Spiders that bark? Man, mother nature is out of control. And you'll only be seeing the back of my pink skirt as I leave you all in the dust :wee:.

buggydanny - 24-3-2010 at 10:23 AM

Kteguru

I think that assigning blame to me might not be appropriate. I got the room, but I never saw the creature and I did look for it.

Please remember that you were suffering from sleep deprivation and your body was probably in shock from eating processed unnatural food for the first time in years. You very well may have been hallucinating and the insect or spider may not have existed or might have been only a 1/4 inch long. It sounds a lot like a "big foot sighting" to me.

Dan, you may be on to something... Link

sofa king - 2-4-2010 at 09:09 AM

I'll be there. I got a mountain board now, instead of a snow sled:yes:

and an 15m synergy which i have yet to get into the air(though i only tried once). Lets make the buggy bash its maiden voyage:wee:

and if anyone whos experienced with self launching an arc is gonna be there and wants to give me pointers, it'd make my trip even better.

Todd - 2-4-2010 at 09:15 AM

Good to hear back from you, stop by once and a while to say hello!

I can give you some help with the self launching but you can pretty much pick it up after watching Carltb's instructional on Youtube, I'll look for a link. Dude, you have to bring a snow sled back... it wouldn't right without it.

Todd - 2-4-2010 at 09:23 AM

Got it.

cheezycheese - 3-4-2010 at 06:58 PM

ok so i'm toying with the idea of renting an RV for WW. anybody know what the deal is as far as parking, like during the day when we are at the beach? will i be able to leave this thing on the street without hassle...? how much is the campground per night? who will be camping this year...?

Knolee - 3-4-2010 at 08:24 PM

Cheese, at the convention center there are RV parking spots. Not sure about the costs and other factors, but the spots exist.

sofa king - 4-4-2010 at 08:56 AM

todd, i left my sled at the beach last time, but ill bring my snowboard. Also i;ve only tried to get my syn up once and i think i had my lines backwards(it seemed right) and there wasnt enough wind. I can never seem to get anyone to come with me when the wind is perfect so ill just wait for the buggy bash to try again.

Cheese, last time i parked a empty hotel the a street over from the Apollo, but that was in october so alot of hotels werent open. If they're not open in may you should be able to park there with no problem, probably camp out there too, whos gonna know?

flyguy0101 - 7-4-2010 at 10:37 AM

Think I will make it- i went to JIBE last year but dont feel like making the 10+ hr drive again this year, so i am considering Wildwood- how close is the campsite to the flying area- I prefer camping but would prefer to not hang out by myself in the evenings and from the comments here seems most folks are thinking about the apollo- look forward to meeting some of you that i have talked with before
Scott

Todd - 7-4-2010 at 10:46 AM

Hello Scott, Campsite is about 5 or so miles away if it's the Beachcomber that you're talking about.

Directions

We are planning the Apollo.

flyguy0101 - 7-4-2010 at 12:12 PM

thanks todd- seems like i might have to consider the apollo since the spiders are not big enough in nature;)
